Gulf Today11-06-2025
Borouge and Adnoc Logistics & Services (Adnoc L&S) have entered a 15-year strategic partnership that will support a significant increase in the production and export of petrochemicals from the UAE.
The mutually beneficial service agreement will deliver a minimum guaranteed value of $531 million (Dhs1,950 million), supporting the next phase of Borouge's accelerated growth plans, driving operational cost savings over the full contract term, realising more than $50 million in cost savings and efficiencies in the first five years alone, and enhancing the company's supply chain network.
The agreement covers port management, container handling, and feeder container ship services for the Borouge Container Terminal in Al Ruwais Industrial City, Abu Dhabi.
Adnoc L&S will manage the transportation of up to 70 per cent of Borouge's annual production, which will increase significantly following the completion of the Borouge 4 plant expansion. It will deploy a minimum of two dedicated container feeder ships to transport Borouge's products from Al Ruwais to the deepwater ports of Jebel Ali in Dubai and Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi.
Hazeem Sultan Al Suwaidi, CEO of Borouge, commented, 'This agreement builds on our long-standing collaboration with Adnoc L&S, a partnership that has been instrumental in meeting the evolving needs of our customers in high-growth markets.
'It brings significant benefits to Borouge; driving substantial operational cost savings and enhancing our Logistics Variable Cost (LVC), as well as complementing our existing rail operations and expanding the flexibility of our supply chain network.'
'With the rapid increase in our production capacity, we are advancing our capabilities in delivering differentiated products and solutions efficiently, while keeping pace with rising global demand.'
As Borouge plans to ramp up production capacity by 1.4 million tonnes per annum by the end of 2026 through its Borouge 4 mega project, Borouge will become the world's largest single-site polyolefin complex.
The partnership with Adnoc L&S will further enhance Borouge's supply chain efficiency as well as reinforcing Adnoc L&S' commitment to delivering innovative, integrated supply chain solutions that enhance trade, strengthen industrial resilience, and support the UAE's vision for economic diversification and global leadership.
Captain Abdulkareem Al Masabi, CEO of Adnoc L&S, said, 'This comprehensive container terminal agreement marks a major milestone in our successful partnership with Borouge, delivering on Adnoc L&S' strategy to provide seamless, end-to-end logistics solutions that power the UAE's industrial growth and export ambitions.
By leveraging our extensive maritime and logistics expertise, we are ensuring that Borouge's world-class petrochemical products reach global markets efficiently and competitively.'

RAK Properties reports Dhs160.6 million in net profit for H1/25

RAK Properties today announced its financial results for the first six months of 2025, highlighting a clear upwards trajectory driven by solid growth and strong sales across its rapidly evolving Mina flagship destination. In a statement today, the company said it recorded revenue of Dhs774.79 million for the H1 period, with Net Profit soaring by a remarkable 80% to Dhs160.6 million – compared to Dhs89.06 million registered for the first half last year. The newly released figures also resonated with a 101% increase in Sales Value to Dhs1,411 million – up from Dhs703 million last year. As a result, RAKP Properties' development backlog – a clear indicator of future revenue and cash flow certainty – stands at Dhs2,624 million, up 42% year on year. This was fueled by a 59% surge in the number of units sold – reaching 788 – a core indicator of both demand and consistently positive traction across RAK Properties' ecosystem of assets and projects. Overall, this clearly demonstrates RAK Properties' strong operational efficiency, expanding appeal, and market capture that continues to attract buyers and investors to one of the UAE's fastest moving real estate sectors. RAK Properties' consistent progress across its portfolio of residential and hospitality projects is revealed in a jump in Operating Profit for H1, which increased 47% to Dhs204.15 million – up from Dhs138.51 million last year. This is further underscored by a 42% increase in Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) with H1 figures showing Dhs239.25 million – a reflection of the developer's operational strength. With this solid financial foundation propelling continued growth, RAK Properties' balance sheet remains robust. Recorded total assets grew by 3.5% reaching Dhs8,290.00 million, with this stable financial position, coupled with a 3% increase in Capital and Reserves to Dhs5,701million, this provides clear and positive visibility into the developer's revenue funds for future expansion plans and sustained investment. Investor confidence remains solid, reflected in RAK Properties' share price rising by 26.3% YTD to Dhs1.44 and Market Capitalisation reaching Dhs4,320 million by H1/2025 end. Abdulaziz Abdullah Al Zaabi, Chairman of RAK Properties, said: 'RAK Properties' robust H1 results are a testament to the remarkable growth and strategic vision that is driving both the company, and Ras Al Khaimah as a whole. As RAK Properties celebrates its 20th year, these impressive figures underscore a consistent plan that is yielding tangible success. "Our performance highlights Ras Al Khaimah's unprecedented appeal as a real estate destination and investment hub. The emirate's diversified economy, investor-friendly regulations, and growing population reflect an increasing demand for a new kind of modern, urban-beachfront community with Mina as its vibrant heart. Already home to world-class resorts, and with more branded hotels and residences taking shape, its success mirrors the emirate's broader vision to attract top-tier hospitality and investment from around the world – investment that continues to reshape both the emirate's coastline and skyline.' Sameh Muhtadi, CEO of RAK Properties, commented: 'Our H1 results show a successful six months for RAK Properties. We continue to see our success shaped by a steady stream of assets coming online, rising sales figures, and international interest in RAK as a place to live, invest, and thrive. So far this year, RAK Properties has solidified its role as a driver of the emirate's economic growth, with strong financial results supported by disciplined and expertly managed operations across diverse projects, from newly launched residential projects to landmark hotel announcements. The timely and steady growth of Mina – from new homes to critical infrastructure – signals our status as trusted and high-performing developer with the scale, vision, and expertise to achieve even more in the months and years ahead.' Oman: First aviation simulation centre to launch in 2026

MUSCAT - InvestOman, the Sultanate's flagship investment promotion agency, has announced the finalization of agreements paving the way for the launch of Oman's first aviation simulation centre – another key building block in positioning the country as a regional aviation hub. The Evolve Flight Simulation Training Centre, developed by aviation training startup Evolve Flight Training Services (EFTS), will be established in Madinat Al Irfan – a new urban district in Muscat – to provide cutting-edge pilot training services. Unveiling the project, InvestOman said: 'The Sultanate of Oman is taking a strategic step in the field of aviation training with the launch of the Evolve Flight Simulation Training Centre — the first advanced facility of its kind in the country, with an investment of USD 25.3 million and support from both local and international partners.' 'This project comes in response to growing regional demand, with forecasts indicating that GCC countries will require over 2,500 pilots annually by 2040, alongside an 87% increase in demand for simulation-based training since 2022,' the agency stated in a post on Thursday. Covering an area of 4,000 m², the centre will feature a modern, three-bay simulator complex designed with eco-friendly principles — such as energy-efficient construction, green spaces, and circular water management. It will be the first centre in the region to receive LEED Platinum certification and operate entirely on solar power. Other design elements will include auditoriums, pilot lounges, cafeterias, and digitally enabled classroom and briefing zones — ensuring trainees benefit from both practical and academic support in a modern, tech-enabled setting. Separately, Evolve is also building a similar facility — but housing as many as eight simulators — at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH) in Dubai World Central. Both centres will feature cutting-edge infrastructure and will house a sophisticated fleet of full-flight simulators, including the Airbus A320 NEO/CEO, the Boeing 737 MAX, and others, according to Evolve. Significantly, the new simulation centre in Muscat will complement Oman's expanding domestic aviation training infrastructure, which currently includes institutions such as the Oman Air Flight Training Centre and the Oman Aviation Academy. The latter, located at Sohar Airport, is Oman's premier pilot training institution and the first EASA-certified Approved Training Organization (ATO) in the region. It offers a full suite of pilot training programs, including the Integrated Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL), Private Pilot Licence (PPL), and various other aviation-related courses. Its training fleet includes Diamond aircraft supported by Boeing 737 MAX simulators. The Evolve Flight Simulation Training Centre in Muscat is scheduled to open in June 2026. 2025 © All right reserved for Oman Establishment for Press, Publication and Advertising (OEPPA) Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc.
