Amit Shah vows victory in upcoming Tamil Nadu and West Bengal polls in 2026

NDA governments will be formed in both Tamil Nadu and Bengal in 2026, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said while addressing party workers in Madurai on Sunday. This marks the BJP's sharpened focus on the southern state as it prepares for the assembly elections next year. "Though I reside in Delhi, my ears are always tuned to Tamil Nadu," Shah said. "The Chief Minister says, 'Amit Shah cannot defeat the DMK.' Stalin Ji, you are right - I cannot defeat the DMK. But the people of Tamil Nadu can." He added that, as someone who has campaigned across the country, he knows the pulse of the public. "And this time, the people of Tamil Nadu will uproot the DMK government," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Here's What A New Gutter System Should Cost You In Texas Gutters System US Learn More Undo This is the senior BJP leader's second visit to the state in two months. The first was on April 11, when he was in Chennai to announce the expansion of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) by bringing in the AIADMK. The BJP's former national president further alleged that the DMK has been a "100% failed government" that has not fulfilled even 60% of its manifesto promises. Live Events He said the DMK government in Tamil Nadu "has crossed all limits of corruption" and went on to mention the TASMAC liquor scam, which alone amounts to ₹39,000 crore. "This amount could have built two new classrooms in every primary school in every village of Tamil Nadu," he said. He added that he had one request for the BJP's mandal workers: No one has the right to rest until the DMK government is removed from Tamil Nadu. He also reiterated his demand for the Tamil Nadu government to offer medical and engineering courses in Tamil. "Why does the DMK government not offer medical and engineering education in Tamil?" he asked. Shah began his speech by apologising for not being able to speak Tamil. "I sincerely apologise to all the karyakartas of Tamil Nadu for not being able to speak to you in Tamil - one of the greatest languages of India," he said. Shah's remarks about Tamil come amid a language dispute with the MK Stalin-led state government, which has accused the Centre of Hindi imposition through the proposed three-language formula under the National Education Policy (NEP). The NEP issue sparked an intense row between the Centre and the Tamil Nadu government in March this year. Shah also brought up how Prime Minister Narendra Modi showed respect for Tamil Nadu by installing the Sengol in Parliament but had yet to receive a word of thanks from CM Stalin.

A fresh controversy has erupted in West Bengal's volatile political landscape after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleged that a youth linked to Bangladesh's quota reformation movement has been enlisted as a voter in the BJP claims that Newton Das, allegedly a participant in the 2024 student-led protests in Bangladesh, is named in the voter list of the Kakdwip assembly constituency in South 24 Parganas to Bengal — one man, two votes.A Bangladeshi protestor's name appears in Kakdwip's voter voting in both countries. Let that sink isn't an is the TMC blueprint — flood Bengal's voter rolls with illegal infiltrators and secure BJP West Bengal (@BJP4Bengal) June 8, 2025advertisementThe BJP went a step further by releasing a photograph showing Newton Das with a student leader affiliated with the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC). The party alleged that Das, whose entire family is said to be Bangladeshi, previously resided in Daspara under the Swami Vivekananda Gram Panchayat in Kakdwip. According to the BJP's Mathurapur Organisational District Secretary, Sanjay Das, 'The ruling party Trinamool is bringing Bangladeshi jihadis to this country to win the election by making voter cards and giving them citizenship. Newton is associated with the Bangladesh movement.I saw his pictures with the student leader here. He came from Bangladesh and is talking against this country. Immediate action should be taken against them.'The TMC, however, has rejected the allegations, countering that responsibility for border security lies with the Border Security Force (BSF), which operates under the Union Home Ministry led by Amit party has also raised concerns about the Election Commission, accusing it of being complicit in voter list tampering. I had to go to Bangladesh in 2024 due to ancestral land issues and was present during a protest in July. But the rumours being spread are baseless. I've been a voter here since 2014. I have my Aadhar card and I even voted for our local MLA Manturam Pakhira. My voter card was reissued in 2018 after I lost it in 2017. This is a conspiracy against me by a particular community," he said in the Das, President of the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad for the Sundarbans Organisational District, clarified his association with Newton, saying, "We can't know who is involved in the quota movement in Bangladesh and who is not, sitting in India. The picture being circulated was taken during a birthday party where many were present. The wrong message is being sent through that image,' he further blamed improper border security management and said, "The central BSF is not guarding the border properly. This problem will be solved only if they strengthen the security at the border. Patwari writes to Shah over Sanchi brand ‘decline' after merger with NDDB

Bhopal: Congress state unit chief Jitu Patwari has written to Union home and cooperative minister Amit Shah, raising alarm over what he termed the rapid decline of the state's flagship dairy brand 'Sanchi' following its merger with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In a letter to Shah, he said the merger has neither benefited consumers of Sanchi products nor the farmers supplying milk to the MP State Cooperative Dairy Federation. He accused the state govt of neglecting the brand. Patwari wrote at the time of merger, CM Mohan Yadav had announced that the share of MP in overall milk production of the country would be raised from 9 per cent to 20 per cent and "you, too, had given direction to the MP govt to take the target seriously". The Congress leader, however, regretted that it has turned out to be an 'airy' target while the situation on the ground is just the opposite. Patwari claimed that the milk collection by the federation has in fact declined. While the total milk collection from Indore was 94,496 Kg in 2023-24, it reduced to 85,438 Kg in 2024-25. Similarly, the sale of milk has also dipped from 1.56 lakh litre to 1.51 litre. The committees of milk producing farmers also reduced from 385 to 362. The 'Sanchi Parlour' scheme, too, was in a bad shape as 257 applications for setting up a parlour are pending in Indore division itself. Only 57 of them have been accepted and only 31 have opened. In Indore city , 74 applications are pending and only 1 has been accepted. The 'neglect' of Sanchi brand by the govt has "obliquely promoted the private milk brands and they have launched milk and several milk products in the market. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now It's not only damaging the brand value of 'Sanchi' but also leading to 'exploitation' of milk-producing farmers", he said. Patwari alleged that the milk-producing farmers in place of getting remunerative prices for the milk and becoming economically self-sufficient are being driven into economic crisis due to neglect by the state government and bureaucracy. While stating that as cooperative minister, Shah was supposed to strengthen the cooperative bodies all over the country, Patwari said he should not "mutely see a historic cooperative movement like 'Sanchi' go to ruins". He also suggested steps to the union cooperative minister to improve the 'Sanchi brand including formation of an independent panel to examine the actual state of affairs at MP Milk Federation, disposal of application for setting up of 'Sanchi' parlour all over the state in a time-bound manner, review the role of NDDB in collection of milk, its price determination and its distribution network and make the entire process transparent, the state government should be asked to explain why the milk production is not increasing despite announcement of the chief minister. He urged the union cooperative minister to "save" Sanchi brand from decline in the overall interest of the country's cooperative movement.
