Vanessa Hudgens's Former L.A. Home Just Hit the Market for $4.4 Million

Yahoo3 days ago

Six years ago, Vanessa Hudgens sold a custom-built home in Los Angeles for nearly $3.2 million after just two months on the market, albeit for 20 percent less than her original $3.9 million asking price. Now the actress, singer, and entrepreneur's former pad in the San Fernando Valley community of Studio City has returned to the market, this time for a speck under $4.4 million. Michael J. Okun in the Sherman Oaks office of Sotheby's International Realty holds the listing.
The High School Musical alum acquired the Mediterranean-inspired spread in 2008 shortly after it was built for $2.75 million when she was only 19 years old and lived there until 2019. Sited on a hillside parcel in the Wrightwood Estates neighborhood, the multi-level white stucco and terracotta-roof dwelling sits atop a street-level three-car garage and features five bedrooms and seven baths in roughly 5,300 square feet laced with Moorish and Moroccan touches.

A curving set of steps leads up to the carved wood front door, which opens into a double-height foyer displaying a striking curving staircase. From there, a formal sitting room has French doors spilling out to the backyard and a two-way fireplace that connects on the other side to a formal dining room boasting a gold-leaf ceiling and a horseshoe-shaped doorway accented with wrought iron grillwork. An adjacent kitchen is outfitted with sage-hued cabinetry, granite countertops, high-end appliances, and a window-lined breakfast nook.
Other main-level highlights include a fireside family room with built-in cabinetry and a tiered movie theater. The upper level holds a primary suite sporting a mosaic-tiled two-way fireplace, a private balcony, an office space, and an inviting bath equipped with a spa tub and steam shower. Outdoors, the resort-like grounds span over a third of an acre and host a freeform pool with a spillover spa and waterfall, plus a terrace that's ideal for alfresco entertaining with a barbecue station.

Hudgens, who currently resides in another Studio City home with her husband, former pro baseball shortstop and outfielder Cole Tucker, and their first child, achieved widespread acclaim with the role of Gabriella Montez in Disney's High School Musical franchise. The 36-year-old California native went on to appear in several TV shows and films, including Spring Breakers, Sucker Punch, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, The Princess Switch series, and live Grease and Rent specials. She also co-founded and owns the businesses Caliwater and KNOW Beauty.Best of Robb Report

UK Comedian Dawn French Apologizes For 'Clumsy Tone In One-Sided Gaza Video'

UK comedian Dawn French has posted a public apology after posting a video about the war in Gaza, and removed the item from her social media. The 40-second video posted earlier this week showed the star of BBC sitcom The Vicar of Dibley share her views on the conflict, saying 'Complicated, no, but nuanced. But [the] bottom line is no.' More from Deadline BBC Condemns Israel After IDF Soldiers Strip-Searched & Detained Journalists At Gunpoint Cannes Expresses "Profound Sadness" At Death Of Gaza Photojournalist Fatima Hassouna Paramount+ Boards BBC Comedy 'Can You Keep A Secret?' Starring Dawn French & Craig Roberts Switching into a high-pitched voice, she continued: 'Yeah, but you know they did a bad thing to us, yeah but no. But we want that land… and we have history… No. Those people aren't really even people, are they really? No.' Following a backlash with people complaining she was mocking the October 7 attack that ignited the war, French removed the video Saturday and said she never meant to 'mock, or dismiss, or diminish the horror' of the event. She wrote on social media:'I hope you will understand my intention was not to offend, but I clearly have. For which I am sorry and I have removed the video.' French said that she had posted a video in the style that she has been using for social media 'in an effort to convey an important point', although she added that she had 'clumsily used a mocking tone.' 'My intention was NEVER to mock, or dismiss, or diminish the horror of what happened on 7 October 2023 and what continues to unfold from that brutal unthinkable, unforgiveable, savage attack.' She said her intention had been 'to mock and point the finger of shame at the behaviour of the cruel leaders on all sides of this atrocious war.' 'THEY were my target, but clearly I failed to do that, and that's on me. I apologise unreservedly, and I'm particularly sorry that my disgust at Hamas didn't figure. It appeared one-sided and that is wrong.' Almost 1,200 people were killed on October 7 2023 when Hamas led a cross-border attack and took 251 hostages. BBC News reports that 54 remain in captivity. Israel launched a retaliatory campaign in Gaza, with a reported death toll of 54,607. Capitol Hill steakhouse to temporarily close while owner shuts down multiple café locations

This story was originally published on A collection of restaurants and eateries run by James Beard Award-winning Seattle chef Renee Erickson is set to close, with some locations closing either temporarily or permanently. Bateau, a contemporary steakhouse, and Boat Bar, a French-inspired oyster bar, are shutting down temporarily on June 19. Both restaurants are expected to reopen in the next three to six months. 'We're incredibly proud of what Bateau and Boat Bar have brought to Seattle's dining scene,' Erickson said in a prepared statement. 'This closure will allow us the time and space to refresh and retool these restaurants after a long 10 years, so they can evolve and continue to inspire.' However, Beataeu's next-door neighbor, The General Porpoise café, also owned and operated by Erickson, is set to close permanently in order to be converted into a private dining room. The General Porpoise location in Laurelhurst is also closing permanently by June 24. These restaurants fall under the umbrella of Sea Creatures Restaurants, a network of eateries locally owned and operated by Erickson and partners. Sea Creatures Restaurants also owns Willmott's Ghost, The Whale Wins, The Walrus and the Carpenter, Barnacle Bar, Deep Dive, Westward, and Lioness. The closures, both permanent and temporary, came after a unionization effort led by some Sea Creatures employees earlier this year, according to The Seattle Times. 'We are comfortable with the union,' Sea Creatures Restaurants co-owner Jeremy Price told The Seattle Times. 'That's an employee's right, and we are all good with that.' Erickson and Price's goal is to relocate all doughnut shop employees working at the now-permanently closed General Porpoise cafés to the remaining locations.
