Neighbours stars Tim Robards and April Rose Pengily have returned to screens for a very surprising - and gory - reunion in Australian horror film Drax. The pair, who starred together as a married couple in the long-running soap, play two lovers on a date that goes pear shaped after they encounter a monstrous force. Their scene is a homecoming for fans of Neighbours, who bid farewell to Tim's character, businessman Pierce Greyson, following his shock decision to quit the show in 2020. Drax was written and directed by Australian filmmaker James Demitri, and is currently on the festival circuit. 'April and I had fun being in a very different scenario, and in US accent,' Tim said of his experience filming with April again. 'It was kind of very familiar, but also totally different. I get to play a real a**hole which is fun.... and second nature!' he laughed. April also spoke fondly of the reunion, saying: 'I've known [director] James since early in my modelling days, and obviously worked closely with Tim on Neighbours (we were married, after all!) so it was lots of fun reuniting with them both on set.' 'It's always great working with people you know as you have a shorthand way of communicating and can get stuck into the work straight away - there's no awkward 'getting to know you' phase.' Filmed in neon-lit Sydney, Drax is described as a contemporary spin on the vampire genre. It tells the tale of a disillusioned bloodsucker and artist Drax (played by David Charlie) who becomes entangled with a young skater named Marcus (Finn Middleton). Also starring in the film are Australian talents Emily Teede and Tatjana Marjanovic, with cameos from Matt Levett, Alex Pychtin, Tomi Grainger and Monique Simone. 'For me, Drax is about the question of who is the real monster when the mask comes off. It explores regrets and how people carry them, how those regrets shape us and become part of who we are,' Demitri said in a press release. April and Tim starred together on Neighbours from 2018 to 2020, initially playing lovers before their characters tied the knot in December 2019. Their union, however, was short-lived, as cracks soon began to show throughout 2020 with storylines involving loss, betrayal and distance. Shortly after, Tim stepped away from the soap. He had originally joined the cast in 2018 for what was meant to be a short guest role, but his popularity saw the part expanded into a regular role. Tim is married to Anna Heinrich. The couple share two daughters - Elle, three, Ruby, one. Anna and Tim met on the 2013 season of The Bachelor.

Irvine Welsh: Edinburgh Festival is great but I'm more excited about Hibs
The 66-year-old Trainspotting writer has returned to the Scottish capital for the premiere of his documentary, Reality Is Not Enough, which will close the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Directed by Paul Sng, the immersive documentary is said to be a thrilling and revealing exploration of Welsh, following his huge success with several film adaptations and six million books sold worldwide, and his awareness of mortality. In it, Welsh, who appears on screen, embarks on a wild journey into the boundaries of consciousness. He undergoes psychedelic-enhanced therapy and reflects on how intoxication can open up new perspectives. 'There's an upside to drug-taking, because there's a real exploratory, consciousness-raising aspect to it, as well as a sense of bonding with others in a festival-type environment,' Welsh told the PA news agency. 'But there's also a very negative side to it, a side that's about running away from things.' The film also explores how Welsh's creativity was shaped by his childhood in Edinburgh, the influences he absorbed from London's 1970s counterculture, and how ground breaking works such as Trainspotting and Filth helped pull him out of a self-destructive cycle. The autobiographical film combines intimate observational footage, rare archive film clips and readings from his novels narrated by stars Liam Neeson, Maxine Peake, Ruth Negga and Stephen Graham, and musician Nick Cave. 'If it's a book, a film, a record or a TV show, once you've created it and put it out into the world, it's an act of giving it away,' said Welsh. 'By then, you're already immersed in the next one. I just move from one project to the next. 'I don't really take the time to reflect on them or figure out where they sit in the grand scheme of things. 'That's why it's interesting for me to watch myself on screen, being compelled to talk about them and think about them in that way.' Welsh is a constant fixture at the Edinburgh festivals, whether speaking at the book festival or through Trainspotting Live, the immersive adaptation of his novel that features at the Fringe each year. Although he features heavily in the festival programme, Welsh himself says he would prefer to be at the pub or watching his favourite football team, Hibs. 'I should be swathed in culture, but all I've been thinking about is Hibs are back in the Europa League,' he laughs. 'Oasis were here too. I got to go to the shows at Murrayfield, and they were absolutely fabulous, just mind blowing. 'Hibs and Oasis, basically, has been my festival.' Aberjazz Fishguard Jazz and Blues Festival is coming to town
The 22nd Aberjazz Jazz 'n' Blues Festival 2025 is coming to Fishguard this bank holiday weekend. The festival takes place from Thursday, August 21 to Monday, August 25 . The festival takes place in Fishguard and the surrounding area and for five busy days the town comes alive with music, creative workshops, and an atmosphere of pure musical magic. 'Aberjazz would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone, locals and visitors, to our annual Jazz & Blues Festival,' said the festival's organisers. 'Once again Aberjazz is thrilled to bring you another incredible line up of jazz and blues music, celebrating homegrown Welsh talent and phenomenal musicians from across the jazz and blues spectrum. 'Whether you're a seasoned jazz enthusiast, a blues devotee, or you're simply here to soak up the vibes, we hope you'll find plenty to make you smile.' With more than twenty ticketed events, many of them double bills, an extensive free AberjazzFringe, many workshops, most of which are free plus a New Orleans style parade, with a Welsh twist, there is certainly plenty to do and see. Aberjazz Festival starts on Thursday, August 21 at 1pm with a double bill of Dave Speight, and afterwards, the Brian Rawson band in the Ffwrn. The programme includes J4, Dale Storr, Ma Bessie's Speakeasy, Gareth Evans, Cluster Funk, The Jay Azzolina Quartet, Seven Steps [music of Miles Davis], Yeti and many more. Aberjazz will also be welcoming Alice Armstrong and Cinelli Brothers as this year's headliners. The Aberjazz parade will take place on the afternoon of Sunday, August 24. It will be led by Aberjazz dragon, Idris, and the band Mr Wilson's Second Liners, who the crowd will follow through the town to the back of the market where they will join the Aberjam-open mic, workshops, street food and bar. There are workshops to suit all tastes, whether you want to dance, sing, or pick up tips on playing various instruments, come to one of the free workshops. You can even learn some Welsh through the medium of song. The free Aberjazz Fringe, will have live music popping up in the pubs, clubs, and restaurants all over town. The Connections will end the festival in style at the closing party in Ffwrn on Monday August 25. Aberjazz thanked the festival's main sponsor, the Arts Council of Wales, as well as Pembrokeshire County Council, Fishguard & Goodwick Town Council, Agritrader and all other contributors.
