Officials at the GHMC headquarters welcomed the delegation. Commissioner R.V. Karnan delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation, explaining the nuances of the TDR Policy, especially the key features and benefits of the updated policy introduced in 2017. He also highlighted 'Build Now', GHMC's single-window platform for building and layout permissions. Commissioner Karnan emphasised that these policies have greatly facilitated land acquisition for government development projects within GHMC limits.
He also noted a significant increase in transparency, efficiency, and accountability in civic services, along with a reduction in the time taken for permission processes and streamlined rule implementation. The visiting JDA team expressed their appreciation for GHMC's policies, stating their intention to implement similar systems in Jaipur to enhance city administration and improve public accessibility.
GHMC Chief City Planner Srinivas Rao, Additional Chief City Planners Gangadhar and Pradeep Kumar, Study Tour Coordinators Raj Kumar and Wilson, along with various Town Planning Officers, were also present at the meeting.

The RoB is designed as a four-lane, 7.50-metre dual carriageway with a central median and footpaths on either side, spanning 600–700 meters. Over a decade ago, a similar RoB proposal costing Rs 28 crore hit a roadblock as HMDA and GHMC failed to release their 50% share (Rs 14 crore).

Teams raid e-com warehouses in city; find multiple violations
Hyderabad: Following complaints regarding the sale of expired products on e-commerce platforms, the Task Force of the Food Safety wing of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Thursday conducted raids at various warehouses across the city. The team identified irregularities, assessing hygiene, waste management, and regulatory compliance. Expiry dates, storage conditions, and labelling were thoroughly checked. On Thursday, Food Safety officers conducted surprise inspections on retail storage, distribution, and delivery points maintained by organisations operating through e-commerce platforms. As many as 35 establishments were inspected by the Food Safety Officers, and 65 samples were collected, with the drive ongoing. The officers inspected Blink Commerce (Malkajgiri), Swiggy Instamart (Tarnaka), and BigBasket. 'The inspections were conducted to assess hygiene, waste management, and regulatory compliance. Expiry dates, storage conditions, and labelling were thoroughly checked. Notices were issued, mandating immediate corrective action. Checks included storage of consumables, packaging standards, and fire safety. The focus is on ensuring public health and food safety in distribution chains,' said a senior officer at the Food Safety Department. According to officials, GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan instructed all Food Safety Officers, GHMC, to inspect retail storage, distribution, and delivery points maintained by organisations operating through e-commerce platforms—including Zepto, Amazon Fresh, Insta Mart, Blinkit, Big Basket, Swiggy, and Zomato, among others—within their circle jurisdiction. The directive was to thoroughly check food articles, storage facilities, and documentation, and to initiate action under the provisions of the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006, and Rules &Regulations, 2011, as frequent complaints are being received regarding non-maintenance of quality standards and the delivery of expired food articles by these platforms. Common violations noticed during the inspection included: food handlers found without hair caps and gloves; improper pest management; food and non-food products stored together; food items kept randomly; housefly infestation observed; and no medical fitness certificates for food handlers. During the inspections, upon finding violations of the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006, and Rules & Regulations, 2011, notices are being issued for the rectification of defects. In cases of any major violation, adjudication will be filed before the concerned Adjudication Officers.

The fortuitous way the Pahalgam killers were liquidated is a little suspicious because there were constant demands from the opposition to arrest them. Which terrorist would carry their voter ID card from Pakistan if they were to indulge in terror attacks? The only notable thing about the entire debate came courtesy of Priyanka Gandhi, who gave names of the dead. It must be noted that since 1957, plastic has been promoted and sold in India, including used in everyday life. In fact, there are several colleges that offer diplomas to PG courses on plastic. Our country has around 50,000 plastic processing units, which provide thousands of jobs. Moreover, without government support, such progress cannot happen. So far no one has found any equivalent material that can effectively replace plastic (despite the 'ill-effects') across all applications. The great transformation has seen Lucknow leapfrog from the 41st rank to an envious third in the Swacch- Survekshan ranking, 2024-25. This can be attributed to the diligence and determination of Indrajit Singh, Lucknow Municipal Commissioner, and his team. They successfully processed nearly 20 metric tonnes of solid waste into fuel and organic fertilizer. He not only provided 1200 EV vehicles to collect household waste but also JCB vehicles to clean up drainage canals. Making the initiative more effective, Singh ensured proper training to sanitation workers, who were all provided PPE kits and were subject to regular health check-up.
