The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Yusif Sulemana, has urged the Lands Commission Board in the Upper East Region to consider establishing satellite offices in some districts to improve land administration.
This, he said, would enable the satellite offices to collect and gather information relating to land administration and registration, so that they can be forwarded to the regional level for the necessary action to be taken.
'For example, if someone is supposed to travel from Garu to Bolgatanga to file a document and return and come back again for feedback, it would obviously be a financial drain on such an individual,' he said.
Mr Sulemana made the remarks when he inaugurated the regional board of the Lands Commission in Bolgatanga last Tuesday.
The 22-member board, chaired by a senior lecturer at the Bolgatanga Technical University, Professor Daniel Azerikatoa Ayoung, was sworn in by Justice Charles Gyamfi Danquah, a Court of Appeal Judge.
Decentralisation
Mr Sulemana stated that the decentralisation of land administration was a critical pillar of the government's strategy, leading to the establishment of functional regional lands commissions for the benefit of all.
'By establishing functional regional offices, we bring land services closer to the people, reduce cost and travel time, as well as empower regional and local stakeholders to take ownership of land governance processes,' Mr Sulemana said.
The Minister said as part of the government's broader vision to transform the country into a 24-hour economy, the ministry and the Lands Commission were prioritising initiatives that would enhance the ease of doing business.
A key driver of this agenda, he indicated, is the digitalisation of land records and processes through the Enterprise Land Information System (ELIS), noting; 'we are working towards an end-to-end digital platform that will enable stakeholders to search, apply, process and access land services online anytime and anywhere.'
He mentioned that the move was essential for improving service delivery, reducing human interface, curbing land disputes and enhancing investor confidence.

The Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, said the inauguration of the constituted board was a vital step towards ensuring transparency, accountability and efficiency in land use for sustainable development.
He charged the board members to use their various expertise to tackle land-related challenges, including boundary disputes, encroachment on government lands and issues of compensation, among others.
On behalf of the board, Professor Ayoung pledged that they would ensure that all land issues are fairly treated, as well as make land available for the execution of development projects.

National Guard face protesters hours after arriving in LA on Trump's orders
The confrontation broke out in front of the Metropolitan Detention Centre in central Los Angeles, as a group of demonstrators shouted insults at members of the federal guard lined shoulder to shoulder behind plastic riot shields. There did not appear to be any arrests. About 300 National Guard troops arrived in Los Angeles on Sunday on orders from Mr Trump, in response to clashes in recent days between federal immigration authorities and protesters seeking to block them from carrying out deportations. Members of California's National Guard had mobilised at the federal complex in central Los Angeles that includes the Metropolitan Detention Centre, one of several sites that have seen confrontations involving hundreds of people in last two days. The troops included members of the 79th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, according to a social media post from the Department of Defence that showed dozens of National Guard members with long guns and an armoured vehicle. Mr Trump has said he is deploying 2,000 California National Guard troops to Los Angeles to quell the protests, which he called 'a form of rebellion'. Mr Trump's order came after clashes in Paramount and neighbouring Compton, where a car was set on fire. Protests continued into the evening in Paramount, with several hundred demonstrators gathered near a doughnut shop, and authorities holding up barbed wire to keep the crowd back. Crowds also gathered again outside federal buildings in central Los Angeles, including a detention centre, where police declared an unlawful assembly and began to arrest people.

'This is a hack that's relatively well known in the migraine community,' neurologist and fellow migraine sufferer Jessica Lowe (@doctorbrainbarbie), explained in a TikTok video with 9.3 million views. 'A large coke from Mcdonalds has about 80 milligrams of caffeine in it. That right there is probably enough to stop your migraine in its tracks.' Caffeine acts as a vasoconstrictor—meaning it narrows blood vessels, which helps counter the dilation that occurs during a migraine. The fries offer both electrolytes and carbohydrates. 'Mcdonalds is well known to have some of the saltiest fries around,' Lowe added. Electrolytes can ease migraine symptoms tied to dehydration or low sodium, while carbs may help if the trigger is hunger or a drop in blood sugar. Still, proceed with caution. For some people, caffeine and fast food can trigger migraines rather than relieve them. Dr. Kay Kennis, a trustee for the Migraine Trust and a GP who specializes in migraines, told the BBC that McDonald's food may also contain high levels of tyramine—a known potential trigger. If you're struggling with migraines, consult your healthcare provider to explore treatment options. But if you're craving McDonald's in the meantime, go for it—you just might get some relief.
