The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Yusif Sulemana, has urged the Lands Commission Board in the Upper East Region to consider establishing satellite offices in some districts to improve land administration. This, he said, would enable the satellite offices to collect and gather information relating to land administration and registration, so that they can be forwarded to the regional level for the necessary action to be taken. 'For example, if someone is supposed to travel from Garu to Bolgatanga to file a document and return and come back again for feedback, it would obviously be a financial drain on such an individual,' he said. Mr Sulemana made the remarks when he inaugurated the regional board of the Lands Commission in Bolgatanga last Tuesday. The 22-member board, chaired by a senior lecturer at the Bolgatanga Technical University, Professor Daniel Azerikatoa Ayoung, was sworn in by Justice Charles Gyamfi Danquah, a Court of Appeal Judge. Decentralisation Mr Sulemana stated that the decentralisation of land administration was a critical pillar of the government's strategy, leading to the establishment of functional regional lands commissions for the benefit of all. 'By establishing functional regional offices, we bring land services closer to the people, reduce cost and travel time, as well as empower regional and local stakeholders to take ownership of land governance processes,' Mr Sulemana said. The Minister said as part of the government's broader vision to transform the country into a 24-hour economy, the ministry and the Lands Commission were prioritising initiatives that would enhance the ease of doing business. A key driver of this agenda, he indicated, is the digitalisation of land records and processes through the Enterprise Land Information System (ELIS), noting; 'we are working towards an end-to-end digital platform that will enable stakeholders to search, apply, process and access land services online anytime and anywhere.' He mentioned that the move was essential for improving service delivery, reducing human interface, curbing land disputes and enhancing investor confidence. Composition The Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, said the inauguration of the constituted board was a vital step towards ensuring transparency, accountability and efficiency in land use for sustainable development. He charged the board members to use their various expertise to tackle land-related challenges, including boundary disputes, encroachment on government lands and issues of compensation, among others. On behalf of the board, Professor Ayoung pledged that they would ensure that all land issues are fairly treated, as well as make land available for the execution of development projects. Atalanta secure CL spot with Roma win

BERGAMO, Italy: A second-half goal by substitute Ibrahim Sulemana earned Atalanta a 2-1 home win over AS Roma in Serie A on Monday, securing Champions League qualification for Gian Piero Gasperini's side. Sulemana sealed the three points for Atalanta in the 76th minute, scoring with a low strike from just outside the area, after Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante cancelled out an early opener by Ademola Lookman. Atalanta, who fell behind in the title race, sit third in the standings on 71 points and have a seven-point cushion over fourth-placed Juventus and Lazio in fifth with two games left to play. Roma, who failed to capitalise on Lazio and Juventus dropping points in a 1-1 stalemate on Saturday, are sixth with 63 points. Atalanta snapped the visitors' impressive unbeaten league run of 19 games, with Claudio Ranieri's side previously having been defeated mid-December at Como. Things started off brightly for Atalanta as Lookman stroked in past Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar to put them in front after nine minutes. Charles De Ketelaere dribbled past the Roma defence to set the Nigerian up with a precise low cross inside the box and the striker controlled the ball to score inside the right post. It was Atalanta's 100th goal this season across all competitions. De Ketelaere had two good chances to double the advantage but Roma midfielder Cristante levelled for the visitors instead, netting with a flicked header after the half-hour mark. Things slowed down significantly after a lively first half until Roma were awarded a penalty after an hour of play, following a clash between Atalanta's Mario Pasalic and Manu Kone. The referee, however, overturned his decision after consulting VAR. Sulemana eventually restored the lead for Atalanta in the 76th minute, scoring with a low strike from just outside the area — a goal that stood after a VAR check for a potential offside. Roma host AC Milan next weekend before visiting mid-table Torino in their bid to qualify for Europe's elite club competition for the first time since the 2018-19 campaign. Atalanta travel to Genoa on Sunday before welcoming lowly Parma in their final fixture. — Reuters

Atalanta fan storms pitch, taunts Svilar in win over Roma

Surreal scenes unfolded last night in Bergamo during Atalanta-Roma, a decisive match in the race for the next Champions League. At the Gewiss Stadium, tension was already sky-high after Sulemana's 2-1 goal, but a Nerazzurri fan further inflamed the spirits with a gesture as absurd as it was provocative. Advertisement An Atalanta supporter climbed over the barriers and entered the field during the celebration for the goal. He didn't just run under the Curva, but headed towards the Giallorossi goalkeeper Mile Svilar, picked up a ball, mimed a penalty and 'scored', celebrating openly in the face of the Roma number 1. A provocation that made Svilar lose his mind, furious at what had just happened on the field and now also provoked by an invader. The goalkeeper reacted with a push, starting a moment of great tension that was immediately calmed by the Atalanta players and the stewards, who avoided the worst. In the stands someone laughed, but the images will remain for a long time as an example of a crazy evening.

Southampton vs Manchester City: Key players to watch in crucial Premier League clash

As the Premier League season nears its climax, Southampton vs. Manchester City in Round 36 promises high stakes and high drama. With just three matches remaining, Manchester City eyes a top-three finish, while Southampton fights for Premier League survival. Set at St. Mary's Stadium, this weekend's showdown is one to watch. Here's a look at the key players who could make the difference in this vital encounter. 1. Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) The Belgian maestro remains the heartbeat of City's midfield. His recent winning goal against Wolves not only showcased his clutch ability but also underlined his importance in tight matches. De Bruyne's vision, passing range, and set-piece threat make him a constant danger. Southampton will need to close him down early to avoid being picked apart. 2. Erling Haaland (Manchester City) With the Golden Boot race still alive, Haaland's physical presence and clinical finishing are a nightmare for any defense. Southampton's back three will have their hands full trying to contain the Norwegian forward, who can turn a game in seconds. 3. Kamaldeen Sulemana (Southampton) One of the few bright sparks in a struggling Saints side, Sulemana offers pace, trickery, and unpredictability in the final third. Against a side like City, who often push high, his ability to exploit space on the counter could be Southampton's best hope of a breakthrough. 4. Bernardo Silva (Manchester City) Silva's work rate and intelligence often go under the radar, but his ability to transition quickly from defense to attack makes him crucial in big games. Expect him to drift between the lines, dragging defenders out of position and creating room for others. 5. Paul Onuachu (Southampton) Standing at 6'7″, Onuachu brings a unique aerial threat. If Southampton can deliver quality into the box, he could be a handful for City's backline, especially during set pieces and long balls. His hold-up play may also relieve pressure and allow the Saints to gain territory. 6. Josko Gvardiol (Manchester City) The Croatian defender has grown into his role and could be key in dealing with Southampton's counterattacks. Gvardiol's speed, strength, and positional awareness could be tested by Sulemana and Onuachu, making him one to watch in the backline.
