Bhubaneswar: State govt has instructed police officers to maintain high alert and not to lower guard, despite the ceasefire agreement reached between India and Pakistan on Saturday.

said the situation continues to be monitored closely by top govt authorities and police officers, with security measures subject to review and adjustment based on evolving circumstances.Local law enforcement agencies are conducting regular security audits and mock drills to ensure preparedness for any contingency.
The state's disaster response teams remain on standby.

Officers emphasised that these preventive measures are part of standard security protocols during times of heightened international tensions."While we welcome the ceasefire agreement, our priority remains the safety and security of our citizens. We cannot afford to lower our guard, given the strategic importance of our state's infrastructure and coastline," another police officer said.The state has also enhanced its intelligence gathering mechanisms, with special teams deployed to monitor suspicious activities.
Coastal security wing has been activated to coordinate with local fishing communities, who serve as crucial informants for suspicious maritime movements.Urban warfare-trained commandos from the special tactical group (STG) are positioned at crucial points in Bhubaneswar, police sources said. They are patrolling vital installations using Rakshak, a bullet-proof light armoured military vehicle.DCP Jagmohan Meena said, "There is no change in our emergency preparedness. We continue to go ahead with the enhanced patrolling by using motorcycles. Static deployment at vital installations have been made. Elite SOG (special operation group)-trained units have been deployed at important locations so that they can respond swiftly in case of any emergency."PCR vans are actively gathering intelligence and maintaining visibility, while inspectors in-charge (IICs) of police stations have been briefed about the current national security situation and instructed to report any concerning development immediately to their seniors.
