Google's Gemini Now Lets You Create Videos From Old Photos Using Veo 3: How It Works
Veo 3 is available with Gemini AI Pro and Ultra plans in over 150 countries and the new feature is part of the setup.
Google unleashed Veo 3 AI model at the I/O 2025 in May which is now available in over 150 countries, including India. The new AI model lets you create videos using text prompts and you can even add audio sync for the visuals. But did you know that Google is making it capable of generating 8-second videos out of your photos?
'You can create short videos in minutes in Gemini Apps. Simply describe what you have in mind and watch your ideas come to life in motion – whether you're creating for fun, sharing with friends, or visualizing a concept," Google's Gemini page points out.
Google's Photo To AI Video: How It Works
To use the new feature on Gemini AI, you need a personal account and subscription to Gemini AI Pro or Ultra plans. People below 18 years cannot use this feature with their account. You can follow these steps to create an AI video from a photo using Gemini.
As you can tell from these details, Google is not making these features available for free, but don't be surprised if the company does a U-turn and makes it compatible with all personal accounts in the coming months.
Google is offering limited use of the feature, even if you have the AI Pro or AI Ultra plans. The company says the ability to generate a video from a photo is not available in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom.
Google Veo 3 AI model to generate videos with audio was recently announced for the Indian market bundled with the Gemini AI Pro plan for users. Gemini AI Pro users in India can access Veo 3 along with other features through the Gemini app on mobile, or the web version on the desktop. Gemini AI Pro in India costs Rs 1,950 per month, and competes with ChatGPT Plus from OpenAI that is available for Rs 1,900 per month in the country.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Defence said, 'The Defence Acquisition Council, under the chairmanship of Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh on August 5, approved various proposals amounting to a total cost of about Rs 67,000 crore.' 'This would enhance night driving capability of BMP and provide higher mobility and operational advantage to the Mechanised Infantry,' the statement said. Autonomous craft and upgraded missile defence The Indian Navy is set to acquire Compact Autonomous Surface Craft, BrahMos Fire Control System & Launchers, and an upgraded BARAK-1 Point Defence Missile System. 'The proposed MALE RPAs can carry multiple payloads & weapons and operate at longer ranges for long endurance missions. They will significantly enhance round-the-clock surveillance and combat capability of the Armed Forces,' the ministry noted. Support, maintenance approvals The DAC also cleared critical sustenance and maintenance proposals, including for India's strategic airlift and missile defence assets.
