A holidaymaker was "nearly burnt alive" in his hotel room in Egypt when he got an electric shock which went through his fillings. Steve Ellis, 42, says he was on a ten night holiday at the Coral Sea Imperial Sensatori hotel in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, when he put his hand on the bed-side light and was "thrown to the floor."
He says that although he only had the electric shock for around 15 seconds, he has been told by doctors that he "nearly burnt alive" because the electric was going to the fillings in his mouth. Steven said: "I've got fillings in my mouth so the electric was going up there - it burnt my mouth.
"If I wasn't able to get myself off the lamp, then I would have burnt alive. I'm pretty lucky. A child could have touched the lamp and then they wouldn't have been so lucky."

Steve says that he was getting out of his bed, when he touched the bedside light with his left hand and started suffering from an electric shock. His left hand then became stuck to the light so he placed his right hand on the light - but that also became stuck.
Steven, a dad-of-one, was then thrown from the bed while suffering from an electric shock and was forced to shout for help as he was alone in the hotel room. He was later checked over by the hotel's doctor and went to visit the holiday rep for the hotel, who he says 'wasn't that bothered' by the incident.

Steve, of Gloucester, said: "We said we wanted to make a report and he questioned it. He turned to my partner and wanted her to lie and say that she saw the incident, when she didn't. I turned to him and nearly walked out - they said it would look better for the paperwork if we lied.
"I wasn't going to lie on a document because that could come back to us."
The light cable that shocked Steve Ellis
Steve says that he didn't use the lamp before the incident but later noticed that there were wires sticking out of the lamp. He said: "There were wires sticking out of the lamp.
"But it wasn't something you would notice without going 'oh, those cables are stuck out.' You wouldn't have noticed it until it happened."
Straight after the incident, which happened in January this year, Steve was left with a ring-shaped burn around his mouth. He also had blood tests and an electrocardiogram (ECG) scan to check the electrical activity of his heart. Steve says that his hands "feel like they are burning and tingling" constantly, so he is struggling to work as a kitchen fitter.

He said: "My hands feel like they burning and tingling every day. My shoulder is in agony hurts when I lift things as well. I get half-way through the day and I'm in so much pain. I'm losing money because I'm having to come home early or have days off."
Their holiday provider has been contacted for a comment.

He is due to be released from jail in September if no further charges are brought. The youngster was stuck up to his elbow in a pool cleaning hole at a resort in the north of Majorca and needed firefighters to free him A four year old British boy was left frantically trying to free himself after his arm was sucked into the cleaning system of a hotel swimming pool in Majorca, Spain. Onlookers were reportedly horrified as the young holidaymaker suddenly became trapped after inserting his arm into the pool's suction hole, which was not covered. The vacuum effect from the hole ensnared him up to his elbow, prompting staff at the Hotel Zafiro in Can Picafort, a resort in the north of the island, to call emergency services. Paramedics were first on the scene but were unable to liberate the boy, leading firefighters to drain the pool and then use a pneumatic drill to access a pipe leading to the hole. The boy was given a helmet and ear protectors as they drilled down, but around 30 minutes later, they eventually cut it off at the source and freed the boy. Images from the scene show the boy in an orange cap waiting patiently as emergency workers strive to extricate him. Police and members of the Spanish Guardia Civil were also present, reports the Mirror. The boy was taken to a local clinic but fortunately did not sustain any serious injuries. Police later interrogated the hotel's lifeguards, and one confessed that he had already reported issues with the suction system to the resort's management team. A makeshift solution to the problem involved reinserting a screw to cover the hole, but this often became loose. Local reports indicate that an investigation into possible negligence by hotel management is currently in progress.

Another Brit woman 'is arrested on drug charges abroad'... after worried family reported the 21-year-old missing
A young female drug mule suspect has been detained and arrested in Germany for allegedly smuggling cannabis from Thailand. Cameron Bradford, 21, from Knebworth in Hertfordshire was stopped at Munich Airport on April 21 while she tried to collect her luggage. Sources told The Sun she served a red flag to authorities after changing her flight last minute as she was originally meant to fly via Singapore to London Heathrow. It is thought Ms Bradford could now face at least four months in a German prison while authorities investigate the drugs' origins. The young mum's arrest is the latest in a series of cases involving suspected young British female drug mules. Ms Bradford, who has a young son, triggered alarm from her family when she didn't return home on her Heathrow bound flight as expected. They filed a missing person report but were alerted the next day to the 21-year-old's whereabouts in Germany. Chief prosecutor Anne Leiding of the Munich Public Prosecutor's Office said: 'We can confirm that we are conducting proceedings in this matter. The young mum's arrest is the latest in a series of cases involving suspected young British female drug mules 'The defendant is still in custody.' Charges and a trial date are yet to be be provided by the prosecution, amid an ongoing investigation. A Foreign Office spokesman said: 'We are supporting a British woman who is detained in Germany and are in contact with her family and the local authorities.' Germany legalised cannabis for recreational use by adults aged 18 and over in 2024 - but did not extend this change to tourists or non-residents. There are also differing interpretations of the law across all of Germany's 16 federal states. And the unauthorised import of cannabis, even for personal use, remains strictly illegal, carrying a five years prison sentence. Recently, 36-year-old Clara Wilson was allegedly found trying to smuggle around £200,000 of Thai cannabis into Spain. The mother-of-four, prominent on OnlyFans and from Huthwaite in Nottinghamshire was held by the Civil Guard on January 20 after departing a Qatar Airways flight from Doha. It is believed she jetted to the Mediterranean capital from Bangkok with stops in both India and Qatar. The unemployed parent now faces four years behind bars and potential fines of over £750,000 if she is found guilty. A 23-year-old British woman in Ghana was also arrested last week after being accused of attempting to bring up to 18kg of cannabis into the UK on a May 18 British Airways flight to Gatwick. And Bella May Culley, 18, sparked a massive international search operation in early May after she was reported missing while she was believed to be holidaying in Thailand. However, it was later revealed that the teen, from Billingham, County Durham, had been arrested 4,000 miles away on drug offences in Georgia, allegedly carrying 14kg of cannabis into the ex-Soviet nation. And recently 21-year-old Charlotte Lee May, from Coulsdon, south London, was arrested in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo after police discovered 46kg of 'Kush' - a synthetic strain of cannabis - in her suitcase. The former flight attendant, facing up to 25 years in prison if convicted, is claiming she had 'no idea' about the drugs worth up to £1.2 million and insisting they must have been planted in her luggage without her knowledge.
