1. Chicken soup

Examples include:

peppermint (menthol)
Frankincense
thyme

Use a diffuser or add a few drops of essential oil to a warm bath.

Remember, the water used in humidifiers needs to be changed daily to stop mold and other fungi from growing. Also, when it comes to children, it is safer to use a cool-mist humidifier.

14. Warm baths

A good Samaritan said the group quickly grabbed shirts to help Leah wrap her injuries. Boca Grande Fire Department Chief C.W. Blosser III confirmed that the 9-year-old's injuries were consistent with a shark bite. However, first responders said there was no shark in the water when they arrived around noon. The chief declined to describe the extent of the Leah's injuries but emphasized that the injuries were severe enough to require helicopter transport to a hospital. Leah's family said Wednesday she was undergoing a long surgery. This is not the first time a shark attack has been reported near the island. Blosser told Gulf Coast News there have been three attacks in the area, but that 'they were spread out over quite a bit of time.' NBC affiliate WBBH reported that Leah Lendel was snorkeling in the water with her family when a shark bit her and nearly severed her wrist. In a 911 call, the operator told a caller that she needed to know exactly what happened. 'Is anyone injured by that shark?' She asked. 'Yes. The shark bit the arm for the little kid,' the man said. 'Pretty bad.' 9-year-old girl recovering at Tampa hospital after hand torn off by shark, family says 'Is the child safe and out of water?' the operator asked. 'Out of water, but she's got the arm completely destroyed,' the man said. The man later explained that blood was pouring out of the girl's wrist. He said she was awake and breathing. The 911 operator then walked the man through stopping the wound from bleeding while first responders made their way to the scene. Leah was flown to a Tampa hospital, where she underwent a six-hour surgery. Her mother said surgeons managed to reattach her hand. 'They had to get arteries from her leg to the hand.
