Mani Ratnam confirms Sanya Malhotra's cameo in Thug Life: It's friendly appearance
When the first single 'Jinguchaa' from Kamal Haasan's 'Thug Life' was unveiled, internet was shocked to see Sanya Malhotra shaking legs with Silambarasan in the peppy number, centered around a wedding. Many came up with theories that she is paired opposite him in the Mani Ratnam-starrer. However, in a recent interview, he dismissed the rumours, stating that it was just a 'friendly appearance'.advertisementSpeaking to Tamil magazine Vikatan, director Mani Ratnam discussed reports about Sanya's inclusion in the film. He said, "She plays a cameo in the film and appears only in the song. It's a friendly appearance. She is a great dancer and a nice person."Mani Ratnam also revealed why he chose Sanya Malhotra for the cameo. "The story is set in Delhi and we needed that flavour. We needed a North Indian face, that's why we went with her," he explained.
Apart from Sanya Malhotra, 'Thug Life' will also feature Rohit Saraf and Ali Fazal in pivotal roles.Meanwhile, 'Jinguchaa', composed by AR Rahman has become a chartbuster on streaming platforms. On Wednesday, the film's second single, titled 'Sugar Baby', was released on multiple platforms as well. Directed by Mani Ratnam, 'Thug Life' is an emotional gangster drama featuring Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami, and Ashok Selvan in lead roles. Jointly produced by Kamal Haasan, Mani Ratnam and Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies, the film will hit theatres on June 5.Ahead of the release, the team has been visiting multiple cities for the promotional tour.
