Sanya Malhotra is a popular name in the Hindi film industry. The actress enjoys a strong fan following because of her striking screen presence and sincere performances. The Dangal star is now set to appear in Mani Ratnam's Thug Life. She, however, does not have a full fledged role in the biggie. Sanya Malhotra has a cameo in Thug Life Sanya Malhotra was seen with Tamil heartthrob Simbu in the video of the Jinguchaa song from Mani Ratnam's Thug Life. and this created a great deal of buzz among fans. In an interview with Vikatan, a Tamil magazine, the Roja filmmaker revealed that Sanya has a 'friendly appearance' in the film and not a full-fledged role. He further stated that she was chosen for the part as Thug Life is partly set in Delhi. 'They also wanted a North Indian face as the Thug Life story partly happens in Delhi. So they need a North Indian face for North Indian flavour as I wanted to keep the regional authenticity. We wanted that Delhi flavour. That's why we went with her,' he added. Mani Ratnam also said that Sanya is a 'cool person' to work with. About Thug Life Thug Life is a gangster drama that features Kamal Haasan in the lead role. The story centres on a powerful who is forced to fight against the very empire/dynasty he once built. Thug Life is KH's second film with Mani Ratnam after Nayakan. Mani Ratnam has confirmed that Sanya Malhotra will also be a part of his upcoming movie, Thug Life. In a recent interview, the director shared that Malhotra will be playing a cameo in the film, which stars Kamal Haasan in the lead. 'She plays a cameo in the film and appears only in the song. It's a friendly appearance. She is a great dancer and a nice person," Mani Ratnam said, while speaking to Tamil magazine Vikatan. The filmmaker also revealed why he chose Sanya Malhotra for the cameo and explained, 'The story is set in Delhi and we needed that flavour. We needed a North Indian face, that's why we went with her." Apart from Sanya Malhotra, Thug Life will also star Rohit Saraf and Ali Fazal in pivotal roles. Silambarasan TR, Trisha, Abirami, Nasser, Joju George, and Ashok Selvan will also be a part of this film. What Does Thug Life Revolve Around? Thug Life follows the tale of Rangaraaya Sakthivel, a merciless gang leader portrayed by Kamal Haasan, and his brother Manickam. After a fierce confrontation, Sakthivel saves a young boy named Amaran and raises him like his own son. However, when an assassination attempt is made on Sakthivel, suspicion falls on Amaran, setting off a gripping story of revenge and shifting loyalties. Previously, Kamal Haasan opened up about reuniting with Mani Ratnam after 37 years for Thug Life when he told us exclusively, 'We both are not the same people anymore. We have evolved. He is not that Mani Ratnam anymore, and I am not that Kamal Haasan. AR Rahman is not the same music director either. If we were still the same, it would mean something had gone wrong. Makers confirm that Santhanam is a part of STR 49
Days after the actor, in a recent promotional interview for his upcoming film DD Next Level, said he will team up with STR, it is now official that Santhanam is indeed a part of actor Silambarasan TR's next, tentatively titled STR 49. Dawn Pictures, the production company behind STR 49, made an official announcement of the actor's onboarding on Wednesday. In his recent Vikatan interview, Santhanam said that he could never say no to Simbu when he gave him a call and said he should be a part of STR 49. Santhanam and STR's friendship dates back years, when the latter discovered the comedy talent in the former during his Lollu Sabha days. Santhanam collaborated with STR in Kadhal Azhivathillai (2002), Manmadhan (2004), Vallavan (2006), Kaalai (2008), Silambattam (2008), Vaanam (2011), Osthe (2011), Podaa Podi (2012), Vaalu (2015) and their last collaboration Idhu Namma Aalu, released in 2016. STR had worked as a music director in Santhanam's Sakka Podu Podu Raja in 2017. STR 49 is backed by Aakash Bhaskaran of Dawn Pictures, who is currently behind films like Dhanush's Idly Kadai and Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi. Ramkumar Balakrishnan made his directorial debut with Harish Kalyan-MS Bhaskar's Parking. Sai Abhayankkar has been roped in as the music composer for the film. More details about the film's extended cast, crew and plot are yet to be disclosed.
