Detroit Tigers at Minnesota Twins odds, picks and predictions
The Detroit Tigers (70-52) and the Minnesota Twins (57-63) open a 4-game series Thursday. First pitch from Target Field in Minneapolis is scheduled for 7:40 p.m. ET. Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's MLB odds around the Tigers vs. Twins odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets. Season series: Tigers lead 5-4 The Tigers are coming off a 2-1 series win at the Chicago White Sox, wrapping up the set with a 1-0 victory Wednesday. Detroit cashed as a -142 favorite and the Under (8) hit. Rookie SP Troy Melton allowed just 1 hit and struck out 6 over 5 scoreless innings, while RF Wenceel Pérez drove in the game's lone run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth. The Twins avoided a 3-game sweep at the New York Yankees with a 4-1 win Wednesday, cashing as +128 underdogs with the Under (8.5) hitting. SP Joe Ryan (win, 6 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 7 K) improved to 12-5 on the season, helping Minnesota snap a 9-game skid against New York. Tigers at Twins projected starters LHP Tarik Skubal vs. RHP Bailey Ober Skubal (11-3, 2.35 ERA) makes his 24th start. He leads MLB with a 0.86 WHIP and 1.3 BB/9, and he also tops the AL with 11.6 K/9 through 145 1/3 innings. Ober (4-7, 5.16 ERA) makes his 20th start. He has a 1.38 WHIP, 2.1 BB/9 and 7.2 K/9 through 103 innings. Win your fantasy baseball league with For decades, BHQ has been helping players just like you win! BHQ offers full-season subscriptions. Tigers at Twins picks and predictions Tigers 5, Twins 3 Moneyline The Tigers (-210) are 17-6 in Skubal's starts and will likely win again Thursday, but the straddle is too high in this market. PASS on the moneyline. Run line/Against the spread The Tigers have won 7 of Skubal's last 11 starts by multiple runs, while the Twins have dropped 6 of Ober's last 7 by 2 runs or more. Skubal fanned 13 over 7 scoreless innings against Minnesota June 29, and the day before, Ober was tagged for 7 ER on 11 hits in 5 2/3 innings at Detroit. The Tigers won both matchups by at least 3 runs. BET TIGERS -1.5 (-125). Over/Under Ober has given up 4 or more ER in 6 of his last 7 starts, with the Over hitting in 5 of those games. And while it might seem counterintuitive to expect a high-scoring game with Skubal on the mound, the Over is 4-1-1 in his last 6 outings. BET OVER 7.5 (-105). 'Giving her every frickin' whistle': What Sophie Cunningham says about WNBA officiating Paige Bueckers
Sophie Cunningham has yet another beef with WNBA officiating in the wake of the Indiana Fever's recent loss to the Dallas Wings. And this one isn't even the same beef Fever coach Stephanie White has from that game. The Fever, who are in the thick of the playoff race, lost 81-80 at home to the struggling Wings. Dallas rookie Paige Bueckers scored 16 points, including 4-of-4 free throws. Three of those free throws came in the game's opening minutes when Cunningham was called for a flagrant foul for stepping into Bueckers' landing area on a 3-point shot. Bueckers made all of the free throws. On her "Show Me Something" podcast, Cunningham expressed frustration with how the game officials treated Bueckers throughout. "I love Paige to death, don't get me wrong," Cunningham said. "I think she's a hell of a player and would love to play with her one day, but those refs were giving her every frickin' whistle last night. Like you literally couldn't touch her. That's just so annoying to me." Cunningham has commented plenty on WNBA officiating, and has paid for it. She said she was fined for a TikTok that referred to "some refs" as "stupid," and she was fined for comments on the officiating from a previous podcast. (This is her third episode.) Cunningham also addressed the Fever's recent blowout loss to the Phoenix Mercury, her previous team. She said she got a warm reception pregame but that turned once game started, with some boos and chippy play. Cunningham criticized DeWanna Bonner on the podcast one week earlier for the way Bonner left the Fever earlier this season. Cunningham led the Fever with 18 points in a 35-point loss, and Bonner led the Mercury with 23 points off the bench. She and Cunningham traded words heading into a late timeout. Cunningham said she was fine with it all. "That's competitive. That's fun," she said. "I guess that gets me riled up." The Fever also lost to the Los Angeles Sparks on their recent Western trip in a game that featured a sex toy being thrown onto the court as part of a reported memecoin marketing prank. In this case, the toy hit Cunningham's foot as she was lined up on the free throw lane. "I felt something hit my foot and I thought someone kicked me. I looked down and it was (a sex toy)) and it scared me, and I jumped up. Everyone was like, 'Why are you freaking out?' My mind just wasn't expecting that," she said. "Who gets hits by a (sex toy)? Me."

How to watch Manchester United vs Arsenal live: Stream, TV channel, team news, prediction
Manchester United and Arsenal meet at Old Trafford on Sunday in an intriguing game in the opening weekend of the new season. WATCH — Manchester United v Arsenal United have a fresh start under Ruben Amorim and have looked really good in preseason as they won the Premier League Summer Series in the USA. Their three new forwards in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko are very exciting and the minimum expectation this season is to finish in the top six and have a good cup run. After a summer of change, there is plenty of positivity around Old Trafford. For now. Arsenal's expectations are much higher as this feels like the pivotal season in Mikel Arteta's project. After signing Viktor Gyokeres as their main forward, plus adding plenty of quality to strengthen their squad considerably, it really feels like this is the season Arsenal have to win a trophy. And probably the Premier League. After three-straight second place finishes in the league, the pressure is on Arsenal to clear the final hurdle. For live updates and highlights throughout Manchester United vs Arsenal, check out PST's live blog coverage below. How to watch Manchester United vs Arsenal live, stream link and start time Kick off time: 11:30am ET Sunday (August 17) Venue: Old Trafford — Manchester TV Channel: NBC Streaming: Watch live on & Stream live on Peacock Manchester United team news, focus United have some big players to come back from injury in defense and Andre Onana has been out injured in goal, with reports suggesting the Red Devils may look at bringing in a new goalkeeper. The 3-4-2-1 system remains and Bruno Fernandes in a deeper midfield role is allowing Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko to start in attack. Amad Diallo and Patrick Dorgu as wing backs is attack-minded and United will look to soak up pressure and hit Arsenal on the counter. OUT: Noussair Mazraoui (hamstring), Lisandro Martinez (knee) | QUESTIONABLE: Joshua Zirkzee (other), Andre Onana (thigh) Arsenal team news, focus At this point we know exactly what we are going to get from Arsenal in terms of shape and style of play. But the new players they've added certainly add an extra dimension. With Gyokeres up top they finally have a different type of striker and it will be intriguing to see who starts in support of him. We know Bukayo Saka will start on the right but it's a straight scrap between new signing Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli to start on the left. And what about Kai Havertz? Could he play in a floating role? That means one of Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard or Martin Zubimendi will miss out on the starting lineup. OUT: Gabriel Jesus (knee) | QUESTIONABLE: Leandro Trossard (hip) Manchester United vs Arsenal prediction Arsenal are obviously the favorites but this is going to be closer than most think. United will be really dangerous on the counter but it's tough to see their defense shutting down Arsenal's plethora of attackers. Manchester United 1-2 Arsenal.
