Viola Davis named among 2025 TV Hall of Fame inductees

Hollywood star Viola Davis has been announced as one of six 2025 inductees into the Television Academy's 27th Hall of Fame.
The 2025 induction will take place at the Televerse Festival on 16 August in Los Angeles, USA.
The Television Academy's Hall of Fame celebrates individuals who have made 'outstanding contributions in the arts, sciences or management of television', whether through a singular achievement or cumulative impact.

Viola Davis among honoured stars
The list of 2025 honourees includes comedian Conan O'Brien, super-producer Ryan Murphy, Emmy-winning actor Henry Winkler, legendary composer Mike Post, and the late Don Mischer.
Rick Rosen, chair of the Hall of Fame Selection Committee, said all six honourees have elevated the art of storytelling.
'They have had an extraordinary influence on television culture and history.
'Their transformative leadership and innovative work have made a lasting impact on the medium, and the Television Academy is proud to honour their legacy,' he added in a statement.
Davis is best known for her role as Annalise Keating in How to Get Away with Murder, among many other shows. In 2015, she made history as the first Black woman to win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

During the interview, the 'Shaka iLembe' actress revealed that she decided to get a pregnancy test because she suddenly found herself vomiting, having 'those' pregnancy cravings and nausea. 'I was nervous. I wanted her to feel like a fairy-tale bride, so I immediately calculated how far along she'd be by each ceremony. 'The moment she stepped back into the room with that test, I felt our bond deepen. Life got even more intertwined,' the Grammy-award-winning musician added. The Rambanis have been private about their lives, and this is not the first time that they have made a shocking yet beautiful announcement to the world through a magazine cover. In June, the couple stunned their fans as they shared that they tied the knot in a private ceremony surrounded by loved ones, as they looked stunning for the cover of 'Previdar Magazine'. In an interview with "Batswadi Magazine," the pair explained their decision to keep their lives private. 'We realised that as public figures, there's so little of our private life that we get to enjoy just for ourselves. So these are the little things that we've chosen to keep sacred – the baby, the marriage and probably many more things to come,' the Rambani's disclosed. Fans and friends congratulated the couple as they embraced a new chapter in their parenthood journey.

Image: Supplied Grammy Award-winning gospel singer CeCe Winans will be performing in South Africa later this month as part of her 'More Than This' world tour, with shows scheduled in Johannesburg and Cape Town. The 15-time Grammy Award-winning gospel artist has a career spanning decades. She is touring in support of her recent album of the same title. The tour marks one of her most extensive international engagements to date. Four shows are planned across two cities: Johannesburg's Rhema Bible Church on August 19 and 20, and Cape Town's Grand Arena at GrandWest on August 22 and 23. 'Africa, I'm coming your way! This tour is more than a concert - it's a divine invitation to worship, reminding us of the unshakable hope and love that unite us all,' said Winans. 'These nights are going to be unforgettable - bring your family, your friends, and your praise. I can't wait to worship with you and lift the name of Jesus together,' she concluded. The South African leg of the tour will feature some of the talented local gospel artists. Award-winning gospel songstress, Ntokozo Mbambo, 'Liyinqaba' singer, HLE and emerging artist Xola Toto are set to perform alongside Winans, bringing a mix of established talent and locally flavoured voices to the stage.
