7.58 million riders used RTA services during Eid Al Adha holiday in Dubai
RTA has provided a diverse range of transportation options during the holiday period.
The number of metro passengers utilising red and green lines reached 2.786 million riders, tram passengers stood at 119,917, and public bus passengers totalled 1.663 million.
Marine transport was also a popular choice, with 307,684 passengers recorded.
Taxis played a significant role, transporting 2.196 million riders, and shared transportation vehicles saw over 504,159 riders.
Meanwhile, Ajman Transport Authority (ATA) carried 439,168 passengers across various modes of transport in the emirate during the Eid Al-Adha holiday, marking a 34% increase compared to Eid Al-Adha last year.
This growth reflects the efficiency of Ajman's transport system and the increasing public trust in the Authority's modern and diverse transport network.
ATA noted that taxis topped the list of most-used transportation modes during the holiday, carrying 380,622 passengers.
Their widespread availability and ease of access, coupled with smart booking services via digital apps, contributed significantly to their popularity.
Public buses also witnessed notable demand, with 55,256 passengers utilising the service. Additionally, 2,716 passengers used the Abra water taxi, and 574 passengers benefited from the on-demand transport service, accessed through smart reservation systems.
The Authority stated that this achievement was made possible by proactive planning and the implementation of a flexible, comprehensive operational plan.
This included expanding the fleet, increasing the number of vehicles, and intensifying field monitoring, which allowed for effective traffic management and met the heightened transport demand during the holiday.
The Authority emphasised that this remarkable increase in passenger numbers reflects the success of continuous investments in transport infrastructure, the adoption of smart digital solutions, and a commitment to high service quality. These efforts are aligned with Ajman Vision 2030, which aims to realise sustainable urban mobility and enhance quality of life for all segments of society through resilient, safe, and environmentally friendly infrastructure.

Dubai's taxi sector posted growth of 7% in the first half of 2025 compared with the same period in 2024. Providing further details, Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at the Public Transport Agency, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said, 'This vital sector has seen steady growth in recent years. The total number of trips reached 59.5 million in H1 2025, rising from 55.7 million in H1 2024 and reflecting 7% growth, while the number of passengers rose to 103.5 million from 97 million over the same periods.' Hala Taxi's market share also increased to 41.3% of total taxi trips in H1 2025, up from 40.3% in H1 2024—a rise of 2.5% growth in share. Over the same period, the number of active drivers in the sector grew from about 13,000 to nearly 14,000. Shakri confirmed that the sector also achieved record growth across e-hailing services, hourly vehicle rental, and Hala Taxi. 'The comparative figures for H1 2025 underscore the emirate's economic vibrancy, which has cemented its position as a global destination for investment and tourism,' he commented. Shakri concluded, 'Service efficiency likewise improved: in H1 2024, approximately 70% of Hala Taxi trips recorded an estimated vehicle arrival time of under four minutes; in H1 2025, about 74% of trips were under 3.5 minutes.'

SPEA enhances school readiness with policies and projects
Dr Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chairperson of the SPEA, emphasized the importance of teamwork and shared responsibility in creating a supportive and secure learning environment. He mentioned, 'We strive to turn challenges into opportunities for growth by focusing on our people, improving schools, and promoting a culture of quality and excellence, which are essential for sustainable education.' The SPEA remains dedicated to upholding high educational standards and developing policies that enhance the educational experience in Sharjah, aligning with the vision of its leaders and reinforcing the emirate's reputation as a center of outstanding education. The Authority is taking important steps to prepare for the upcoming school year to ensure that schools are ready and meet safety guidelines. A week before classes begin, they will visit several schools to check their readiness. They are also working with the Roads and Transport Authority to ensure that school buses meet safety standards. Additionally, the Authority is collaborating with the Sharjah Police to manage traffic around schools, making it safer for students when they get on and off the buses. To further improve safety, the Authority is continuing its "Your Children Are Safe" project, which started in February 2020. Launched under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh D. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the initiative aims to keep students safe during their daily commutes. The project includes a digital platform that monitors school trips for private schools, ensuring that transportation services follows the right rules. The Authority is also focused on providing a well-rounded education that caters to all students' needs. They are developing new policies related to extracurricular activities and student wellness. They aim to strengthen partnerships with organizations focused on health, sports, and community education. This includes launching new projects that support both educational and extracurricular activities, working closely with parents and the community to ensure schools are effective community hubs that help students develop important future skills. Furthermore, the Authority supports the Sharjah Award for Educational Excellence, which recognizes outstanding contributions in the educational sector. This award aims to promote high standards of quality and innovation in education. Recently, the award launched a new online platform for its 31st edition to make participation more accessible and effective. They are also updating support materials and organizing events to encourage more involvement in education, fostering a culture of excellence and creativity. Dubai Metro timings to be extended on August 10 for 'Emirates loves Pakistan' event
To ensure a smooth transportation experience for those who plan to attend the "Emirates loves Pakistan" event scheduled on Sunday, August 10, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a series of measures. Among these measures is the extension of Dubai Metro timings. On Sunday, the metro will operate until 2am on Monday, instead of midnight. In addition to this, a large taxi fleet will be available around the event venue in Expo City Dubai, to ensure extra public transport options for visitors.
