Good partnership: FAM deputy president Datuk Yusoff Mahadi (second from left) receiving the sponsorship from Fraser and Neave (F&N) Holdings Bhd food and industry engagement division managing director Datuk Raffiq Md Ariff. Looking on are FAM deputy president Datuk S. Sivasundram and F&N Beverages Marketing Sdn Bhd chief marketing officer Leong Wai Yin. — Bernama PETALING JAYA: The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) are confident of securing RM15mil in sponsorship by the end of the year. FAM marketing and sponsorship committee chairman Datuk Mohd Hisamudin Yahaya revealed that the national body have so far raised between RM7mil and RM8mil through the backing of several sponsors. With about half the target still to be achieved in the remaining four months, Hisamudin admitted that the association must step up their efforts to meet the goal set by their president. Hisamudin added that the funds are crucial to cover the expenses of not only the senior national team but also the Under-23 and women's squads. 'We currently have around RM7mil to RM8mil in sponsorship, but we are still short and working to reach the target. 'We already have some initiatives in place and more in the pipeline. For now, we cannot disclose the new measures, but what matters is that the RM15mil target set by the FAM president is met,' said Hisamudin. FAM yesterday renewed their partnership with isotonic drink brand 100PLUS at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya. Under the renewed deal, 100PLUS will continue as the official isotonic drink partner of the national team for two years, with a total sponsorship worth RM2mil. Meanwhile, Fraser and Neave (F&N) Holdings Bhd food and industry engagement division managing director Datuk Raffiq Md Ariff said 100PLUS has always remained committed to supporting football in Malaysia. 'We believe the best way to contribute to the growth and development of the sport is through our partnership with FAM. We are pleased with the strong relationship we have built over the years and are delighted to continue this collaboration for another two years,' he said.

No relief on exports front despite July surge
The forecast remained challenging for exports in the second half of 2025. PETALING JAYA: The latest trade data released on Tuesday point to challenging times ahead – not just for the country's exporters but also the domestic economy. This is as a combination of tariff uncertainties and slower growth crimp consumer demand both abroad and at home, following a drop in intermediate and consumption goods imports. The forecast remained challenging for exports in the second half of 2025. This is despite the unexpected boost to July exports in the face of market consensus projecting another month of contraction as overseas businesses ramped up their purchases ahead of US reciprocal tariffs that became effective on Aug 8. United Overseas Bank (M) Bhd said despite the July exports surprise, in which total exports increased 4.3% year-to-date (y-t-d), the country's trade outlook remains subject to downside risks for the rest of the year and into 2026. This is underpinned by spillover risks stemming from breakdown in US-China trade talks, signs of weaker demand due to contractions in intermediate and consumption goods, sectoral tariff risks and the effects of the reciprocal tariffs. Maybank Investment Bank Research noted that 'the devil is in the details' for sectoral tariffs, of which semiconductor goods continue to be the most at-risk for Malaysia, a major export to the US market. 'Expect continued choppy external trade numbers as US tariff uncertainties shift from reciprocal tariffs to product-specific tariffs, namely on semiconductors,' it added. Besides the downside risks from semiconductor tariffs, CGS International Securities said palm oil exports could be in danger of losing market share in India to Indonesia, with palm oil exports falling flat and only higher crude palm oil prices providing some buffer. CIMB Securities pointed to the shifting trends in the trade balance in July, where the trade surplus despite narrowing y-t-d, became increasingly concentrated in the United States, Hong Kong and Singapore, which together accounted for 197% of total surplus from 153% in 2024. 'However, these gains were nearly fully offset by wider structural deficits with mainland China, Taiwan and South Korea (189% of total surplus), highlighting Malaysia's reliance on upstream electrical and electronic inputs,' it said. The research house added that exports growth to the United States, Hong Kong and Singapore was partly driven by tariff-related front-loading, while higher imports from mainland China and Taiwan point to stockpiling of intermediate goods. 'Meanwhile, lower energy import bills from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Brazil provided only limited relief. Overall, the trade balance remains fragmented, shaped by temporary tariff distortions and entrenched structural deficits,' it said. TA Research anticipates the drag from the reciprocal tariff may only materialise with a lag effect, likely in the late third or fourth quarter of the year, as supply chains adjust and exporters recalibrate orders.

Express Powerr to raise RM36mil from listing
From left: Express Powerr Solutions (M) Bhd non-independent executive director Rosli Jonid, Express Powerr managing director Lim Cheng Ten, Express Powerr independent non-executive chairman Datuk Mohd Redza Shah Abdul Wahid, Mercury Securities Sdn Bhd director Jamieson Chew Yen Loong and Mercury Securities head of corporate finance Eric Chong Soo Keng. KUALA LUMPUR: Generator rental services provider Express Powerr Solutions (M) Bhd, which is en route to be listed on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia on Sept 24, 2025, is expected to raise RM36mil via its upcoming initial public offering (IPO). The IPO price is fixed at 20 sen per share, giving the company a market capitalisation of RM186.9mil upon listing, based on an enlarged issued share capital of 934.4 million shares. Managing director Lim Cheng Ten said that the proceeds would enable the company to expand its fleet by at least 36 units and acquire medium and high-voltage equipment to support this expansion over the next three years. Lim said Tenaga Nasional Bhd is expected to remain Express Powerr's largest revenue contributor, although its reliance has dropped to 60% in 2024 from 95% previously. He noted that with 27 oil and gas projects worth RM4.46bil approved in the first nine months of 2024, demand for generator sets in exploration and drilling is set to rise. To reward shareholders, Lim said the company has adopted a dividend policy of 30% to 50% of net profit. On diversification, he said the group's solar business remains in its infancy and would not be a near-term focus. The IPO involves the public issuance of 180 million new shares or 19.3% of the enlarged share capital, and an offer for sale of 65.4 million existing shares. — Bernama
