SHAH ALAM: PKR has refuted claims by party deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli that complaints and objections related to its elections were ignored.
The party's central election committee (JPP) deputy chairman Datuk Ahmad Kasim said these allegations are untrue.
He said every complaint and objection received is taken seriously and handled professionally, fairly and according to regulations.
'The membership list used is the latest received from the secretary-general's office, verified through the electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) process, before being updated as the official voter list.
'Claims that the JPP ignored complaints and objections are untrue and regrettable,' he said in a statement on Sunday.
Rafizi had earlier claimed that the JPP had failed to carry out its duties when individuals allegedly joined PKR temporarily for the election period, allowing them to vote and contest in recent branch elections.
He also claimed that the JPP had failed to check the membership status of individuals from other parties, allowing those from parties like Umno and Pejuang to contest and win branch positions.
To this, Ahmad said party election regulations were approved by the central leadership council (MPP) on Feb 23 and confirmed by the party's political bureau on March 3.
He pointed out that Rafizi was a member in the two decision-making bodies.
'The regulations clearly state that every objection or appeal must be accompanied by sufficient evidence, and the burden of proof lies with the person lodging the objection or appeal.
'A total of 289 complaints and objections were received, covering various stages of the process including nominations, objections to nominations, appeals, finalising candidate lists, campaigns and voting processes.
'All these complaints have been thoroughly examined, with some referred to the secretary-general's office and the party disciplinary board for further action as per their jurisdiction,' he said.
He added that the JPP also reviewed objections to voting results after the branch elections and presented them in the MPP meeting.
'The MPP has made decisions for six selected branches along with the international auditors appointed by the MPP to represent all issues related to branch voting results raised.
'The international auditor's report shared by Rafizi proves that the e-voting system is in good condition, secure, and there is no evidence of manipulation or fraud,' Ahmad said.

RM250,000 concrete drain completed at Lrg Semaba 7 to tackle flooding issues
Yap (second left) and others seen at the site of the completed concrete drain at the T-junction of Lorong Semaba 7. KUCHING (June 7): The construction of a concrete drain at the T-junction of Lorong Semaba 7 has been completed at the cost of RM250,000, said Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap. He said the rural transformation programme (RTP) project had resolved long-standing drainage and flooding issues in the area. 'With the completion of this phase, residents in the neighbourhood can now look forward to improved water flow, reduced flood risk and better overall living conditions,' he said in a statement. He emphasised that the initiative is more than just a basic infrastructure upgrade. 'It is a commitment to ensure that every part of Kota Sentosa is not left behind in terms of infrastructure. Too many of our older residential areas still suffer from outdated or insufficient basic amenities. 'I am working tirelessly to correct that,' he added. Yap also revealed that the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has conducted survey and assessment works on the opposite side of the same T-junction, as well as another stretch of earth drains along Lorong Semaba 11. The proposed next phase will involve the construction of additional concrete drains, with a combined estimated cost of RM400,000, and MPP engineers are currently preparing the Bill of Quantities to move the project forward. Reaffirming his commitment to infrastructure development, Yap said he will continue to advocate for improvements under the RTP and other government allocations. 'Development cannot be concentrated in one area. As your elected representative, I will continue to press for improvements – street by street, lorong (lane) by lorong – so that all residents of Kota Sentosa enjoy the benefits of proper, modern infrastructure.' Yap also highlighted that his efforts are aligned with the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government's focus on inclusive development and narrowing the infrastructure gap, particularly in semi-urban and suburban communities. He emphasised that infrastructure is not just about roads and drains. 'It's about dignity, safety and improving the quality of life for the people I serve. I will not rest until every kampung, taman and lorong in Kota Sentosa sees tangible progress,' he pledged. concrete drain flooding jalan semaba lead Wilfred Yap

Boycott PKR in GE16 greets Nurul Izzah's victory; grassroots foresee rot from prevalent family ties
WHAT an anti-climax! Instead of being jubilant, many Reformasi diehards who have been vital lynchpins to PKR's very existence have vowed to disassociate themselves from the party which they claimed have switched to self-destruction mode following Nurul Izzah Anwar's victory against incumbent Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli in the PKR deputy presidency race. This came about as Malaysiakini broke the news citing party election committee chairperson Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa as having announced that Nurul Izzah has toppled the Economy Minister with 9,803 votes. Tak rasmi: Rafizi kalah pemilihan PKR — Malaysiakini (BM) (@mkini_bm) May 23, 2025 Although Dr Zaliha did not state the number of votes polled by Rafizi, it was revealed in the party's Borang Keputusan (Borang 14) that the Pandan MP garnered only 3,866 votes which means the eldest daughter of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim won by an overwhelming majority of 5,937 votes or 60.6% margin. Sarcasm of sorts filled the news portal's comments section with the most popular being 'hopefully later, Nurul Izzah's other sisters will contest for the party's vice-presidency'. Another insinuated that her younger siblings may even vie for head of PKR's youth wing or even PMX's son-in-law (Nurul Izzah's husband) as a member of the party's Central Leadership Council (MPP). On a more serious note, many anticipated the party to languish from nepotism, hence wanting to disassociate themselves from PKR come the 16th General Election (GE16). Boycotting the party or abstain from voting in GE16 which means turning their back to the PKR-led Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition would point to PMX being a one-term premier, insinuated one disgruntled grassroot member. One commenter expressed disbelief at how PMX used to hit out at twice former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for promoting his son Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir as his successor yet he (PMX) himself is doing the exact same thing now. Another contended that it has become clear why prominent leaders like Datuk Ezam Mohd Nor (a founding PJR member) or Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali (former deputy president) eventually left the party to join the opposition while one is bracing for PKR/ruling PH coalition to come under fire from their own supporters. 'There's no need to await the official results for the writing was already on the wall … I wish PH a happy return to being an opposition … confirm you shall be a flop in GE16; you've lost my vote,' fumed one supposedly staunch PKR backer. While it may be too soon to gauge the anticipated devastation, one 'overseas-stationed' commenter summed up that his entire family members who are still residing in Malaysia will no longer vote for Nurul Izzah, her father, her mother 'or the party now gasping under the weight of your entitlement!' – May 24, 2025
