on Sunday inaugurated the office of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Lohgarh Foundation Trust built at PWD Rest House Vyaspur in Yamunanagar.
During a meeting chaired by the Union power minister with the members of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Lohgarh Foundation Trust, detailed discussion was held on initiating the construction of the Lohgarh Memorial.
A monitoring committee and expert committee will monitor the construction process of the memorial, and the issue of organisation of cultural programmes related to Sikh heritage was also discussed. Former cabinet minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar was nominated as the chairman of the monitoring committee.
The expert committee will be responsible for identifying key historical facts and significant events related to the monument, as well as contributing to its preservation and enhancement through in-depth research.
Khattar said the trust and other sub-committees will play an important role in preserving the rich heritage of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and developing museums, monuments, and literature on Lohgarh and Baba Banda Singh Bahadur.

During the meeting, the provision of giving income tax exemption to the person or institution donating in the name of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Lohgarh Foundation Trust was also considered. Detailed discussions were held on the implementation of various projects under Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Lohgarh Foundation Trust and other related points.
During the meeting, Rakesh Beniwal, founder of Kisan Yuva Club, and his colleague Aman Virk handed over a cheque of Rs 11 lakh to Khattar as a donation in the name of the trust. Earlier, chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, Zora Singh, donated Rs 11 lakh to the trust. For this, the Union minister expressed his gratitude and appealed to the people to actively participate in such religious and social activities.

Build PMAY Schemes With 1,000 Flats In Each Of 6 Constituencies, Says CM
Nagpur: In a major milestone under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Sunday handed over possession of 480 flats to economically weaker section (EWS) beneficiaries under the project Swapniketan, located at Mouza Wanjara. The symbolic key was handed over by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis , along with guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and minister of state Ashish Jaiswal. Addressing the gathering, CM Fadnavis congratulated the new homeowners and praised the quality of construction undertaken by NMC. "The same quality flat is being sold for Rs18 lakh in the adjacent scheme, but citizens are getting the flat under PMAY for Rs9 lakh," said Fadnavis. He also proposed that similar PMAY buildings — with at least 1,000 flats — should be developed in each of Nagpur's six assembly constituencies to ensure accessible housing for all. "PM Modi has already provided funds for building 30 lakh houses in the state this year. Out of the 12 crore population of Maharashtra, over 1.5 crore will be able to live in their own homes thanks to PM Modi," said Fadnavis. Stressing Nagpur's place among India's green cities, he encouraged citizens to reduce private vehicle usage and make greater use of the eco-friendly electric bus service made available by the city administration. "Steps are being taken so that the private vehicle usage is reduced in the city and people should use public transport. ‘We all can contribute towards achieving goals through sustainable consumption'

While speaking to Dhrubajyoti Malakar, Reddy shares his vision and plans for Jharkhand and the country at large on sustainable development. First of all, congratulations to you for assuming the coveted post. How are you feeling about it? Thank you. It feels good to receive such acknowledgements. It also brings a renewed sense of responsibility towards the field I have been associated with and a motivation to do good work for society. Tell us about UNGCNI. Global Compact Network India is one of the United Nations agencies like UNICEF, UNDP, and UNESCO, etc. It was established in India in 2000. UN Global Compact Network is the largest organisation engaged in corporate sustainability across the globe. And in India as well, it is the largest organisation engaged with different corporates, PSUs, and NGOs. We are not in a very good state as of now, and there are lots of work to be done. Reasons to the setback is many including investment crunches, not adopting to sustainable development practices in development projects, lack of coordination among departments to adhere to the SDGs, among others. To achieve the goals, not only the govts but the citizens also have to start acting responsibly. What are your visions and plans to address the shortcomings after assuming the post? We are focusing on engaging with more stakeholders in coming days. Our stakeholders are the state govts, union govts, corporate and PSUs. We are also planning to establish four or five regional hubs across the country to ensure better coordination, capacity building with the states. We are also planning to form goal-based sub committees for better monitoring on implementation of the SDGs. Apart from this, UNGCNI is going to target more MSMEs for strengthening our partnerships. How do you think your association with UNGCNI is going to benefit Jharkhand? As I said, we are focusing on building partnerships with various entities and sensitising them more on adhering to the SDGs, which will prove to be beneficial for Jharkhand and the country as well. How can commoners contribute to achieving the SDGs? We all can contribute towards achieving the goals through responsible consumption. Natural resources are limited, we have to make sure how responsibly we consume. For example, while taking a bath, if we use a bucket instead of a shower, we will be able to lower the burden on the planet to a great extent.
