Arab Finance: Raya Foods, a portfolio company of Raya Holding for Financial Investments, held a meeting with Egypt's Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation to explore potential collaboration to support the agricultural sector and improve conditions for farmers, as per an emailed press release.
The meeting is part of Raya Foods' expansion plans aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural practices, increasing production, and improving export performance in line with Egypt's Vision 2030.
Raya Foods presented its agricultural program 'RAP,' which helps meet the technical specifications required by international buyers while adhering to food safety standards.
The program is designed to provide specifications tailored to different customer needs.
The discussion also addressed the cultivation of crops with demand in global markets, such as jalapenos, and included plans to secure support from international financial institutions to expand production and exports.
Raya Foods processes and exports a range of frozen fruits and vegetables. While serving the local market, it exports 99% of its products to destinations including the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
Focused on meeting daily consumer needs and working with local farms, Raya Foods continues to expand its agricultural operations. These efforts aim to strengthen the competitiveness of Egyptian exports and reinforce Raya Holding's role in agricultural development.

The extensive discussions centered on enhancement of bilateral ties and partnership as part and parcel and continuation of the concrete areas of cooperation on various sectors that had been reached between President Isaias Afwerki and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Italy in February 2024 last year. The broad areas of cooperation include the sectors of energy, mining; physical infrastructure; manufacturing; Agriculture, Marine Resources, Tourism, Culture and Sports, Human capital development, economic cooperation and finance. The two sides also discussed regional peace, security and stability. A Comprehensive Plan of Action on Bilateral Cooperation Between the State of Eritrea and the Italian Republic (as specified above) was signed after the meeting by Mr. Nesredin Mohamed, Eritrea's Minister of Trade and Industry; and Mr. Edmondo Cirielli, Italy's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The two sides further agreed to hold continuous meetings in Eritrea and Italy in the period ahead to monitor and expedite the implementation of the Cooperation Agreement. In a brief statement to the Eritrean News Agency, Minister Francesco Lollobrigida underlined that the progress achieved today reflects the initial tangible step in the efforts that have been exerted in Asmara and Rome to enhance bilateral cooperation. The meeting was attended by Mr. Hagos Gebrehiwet, Head of Economic Affairs of the PFDJ, and Mr. Alfonso Di Riso, Ambassador of Italy to Eritrea. UAE Central Bank suspends foreign insurance company's motor business

The Central Bank of the UAE has suspended the motor insurance business of a foreign insurance company's branch (insurer). The insurer remains liable for all rights and obligations arising from insurance contracts concluded before the suspension, the authority stated on Tuesday, July 29. The legal actions comes after the entity failed to comply with the solvency and guarantee requirements, specified in the law and prevailing regulations governing insurance companies in the UAE. This is not the first time the Central Bank has taken action against a foreign entity's branch. The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has imposed a financial penalty of Dh5.9 million on a foreign bank branch operating within the country for failing to comply with anti-money laundering regulations. On July 16, the authority imposed a financial sanction of Dh600,000 on a branch of a foreign bank in the UAE. The apex bank did not reveal the name of the bank that has been penalised. The branch was reported to not be complying with the Market Conduct and Consumer Protection Regulations and Standards. Meanwhile, on July 2, the authority announced it had imposed a financial penalty of Dh5.9 million on a foreign bank branch operating within the country for failing to comply with anti-money laundering regulations. The name of the bank penalised by the apex bank was not disclosed.

Empower Insulated Pipe Systems (ELIPS), a fully-owned subsidiary of Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), has secured a key contract to supply insulated pipes for the Ali Al-Sabah Military Academy project at Al Zahra in Kuwait. The contract covers pipe sizes ranging from 25 mm to 800 mm, with a total network length of 19km. According to ELIPS, the deliveries are scheduled to begin during the fourth quarter of 2025, signalling the commencement of the project's infrastructure implementation phase. The new project, it stated, adds to the company's growing portfolio in Kuwait, which includes notable developments such as Kuwait University in Khaldiya, the industrial and storage zones in Sabah Al Ahmad City, and commercial facilities in Jaber Al Ahmad Residential City. ELIPS has produced and supplied more than 880km of insulated pipe systems over the past 16 years, with a notable 40% increase in production in the last five years. Supervised by Dar Al Khaleej Engineering Consulting and implemented by Hydrotech Engineering, the Ali Al-Sabah Military Academy project reflects Kuwait's commitment to adopting sustainable solutions that reduce carbon emissions, lower electricity consumption, and conserve natural resources. District cooling systems play a key role in this strategy, offering high efficiency and performance suited to the country's extreme climate conditions. On the contract win, ELIPS Chairman Ahmad bin Shafar said: "We are proud to be a part of the Ali Al Sabah Military Academy project led by the Kuwait Ministry of Defence. Through the supply of highly efficient, world-class insulated pipes, we aim to support the project's sustainability goals in line with the highest international standards."
