UFL 2025: Best hot mic moments from Week 9
The St. Louis Battlehawks began the week by dominating the San Antonio Brahmas on the road on Friday night in a 39-13 victory on FOX. On Saturday, the Birmingham Stallions squeaked out a four-point win over the Michigan Panthers, while the Arlington Renegades beat the Memphis Showboats by double digits. Rounding out the weekend, the Houston Roughnecks got a stunning, three-point win over the DC Defenders on Sunday.

That said, here are the best hot mic moments from Week 9!
After getting off a pass, Stallions quarterback J'Mar Smith took a hit from Panthers defensive lineman Taylor Stallworth. But after the hit, Smith expressed to Stallworth that he has to "hit harder than that."
J'Mar Smith ran over Panthers defensive back D.J. Miller Jr. and let him know about it with some choice words.
Michigan drew first blood against Birmingham early in the second quarter when quarterback Danny Etling hooked up with wide receiver Siaosi Mariner for a 33-yard touchdown. After the scoring play, evil laughter could be heard.
J'Mar Smith was emphatic after a successful one-point conversion with his legs in Saturday's tilt.
Toa Taua put Michigan back in front with a 2-yard touchdown run with 7:47 remaining in the fourth quarter. After the score, Danny Etling wanted the Panthers to "meet" the running back in the end zone.
After reeling in a completion, Battlehawks running back Jacob Saylors refused to go down and picked up some extra yards despite multiple defenders trying to take him down. Saylors proclaimed the play to be a "mic drop."
Prior to taking a hit, Battlehawks quarterback Max Duggan got off a pass, but then he had to ask his teammates what happened on the play. After hearing the good news that wide receiver Jahcour Pearson came down with the reception, Duggan claimed it to be "good s---."
Stallions head coach Skip Holtz was trying to get his team in the game, stressing that they had to "get up" because there was "a game to play."

Atletico Madrid and Juventus open surprise talks over double deal
Atletico Madrid were expected to do little more business in the transfer market, but with the La Liga kick-off a little over 24 hours away, Los Colchoneros are now involved in talks with Juventus over two players. The word coming from the Metropolitano was that Los Rojiblancos would not be doing any more business this summer unless there were exits, beyond that of forward Carlos Martin. However two reports have emerged out of the blue. Discussions for Nicolas Gonzalez Matteo Moretto has reported that Atletico Madrid have opened talks for Juventus winger Nicolas Gonzalez, in a move that could be a permanent deal. The Argentina international is not a key part of Juventus' plans, just a season after arriving at the Allianz Stadium in Turin. The Biaconeri spent €36.5m on Gonzalez over the course of his loan and permanent move from Fiorentina. The 27-year-old is open to the move. Juventus interested in Nahuel Molina Image viaMeanwhile less than an hour apart, German Garcia Grova of TyC Sports has assured that La Vecchia Signora have also opened talks with Atletico for right-back Nahuel Molina. He was linked with an exit earlier in the window, and has a deal until 2027. Garcia explains that Gonzalez is an option that has been discussed as a result of Juve not meeting Atletico's asking price. Surprise moves for Atletico Madrid Last month it seemed as if Molina would be on his way out, but more recently it had been reported that Los Rojiblancos were happy to hold onto him. Similarly, in the final third, Giacomo Raspadori's signing from Napoli was thought to be their last bit of business excepting a departure. It may well be that Diego Simeone sees both Molina and Gonzalez as right wing-backs or midfielders, rather than right-backs, which from a squad planning perspective could make more sense.

NCAA informs Michigan ruling on sign-stealing investigation will be released Friday, AP source says
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — The NCAA has informed Michigan that the organization will announce the results of its sign-stealing investigation on Friday, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press. The person spoke Thursday on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to share the details. The NCAA alleged last year in a notice that current coach Sherrone Moore violated rules as an assistant under former coach Jim Harbaugh, who served a three-game suspension in exchange for the Big Ten dropping its investigation into the allegations after the two ended up in court. Moore also was accused of deleting text messages with sign-stealer Connor Stalions before they were recovered and provided to the NCAA. Moore has previously said he has and will continue to cooperate with the NCAA's investigation, but recently declined to say much about the issue looming over the college football program with the most victories. 'Today, not tomorrow, that's all I'm worried about,' he said on Monday. The NCAA investigation surfaced early in the 2023 season amid allegations that Michigan used a robust in-person scouting and sign-stealing operation conducted by Stalions, a former a low-level staffer. He was suspended by the school and later resigned. Stalions, who did not participate in the NCAA investigation, recently said he knew almost every signal opponents used in seven games over two seasons. Michigan has been prepared to suspend Moore for two games during the coming season as part of self-imposed sanctions. The NCAA will announce soon whether that punishment is enough to address allegations that Moore failed to cooperate in an investigation. Big Ten Commissioner Tony Petitti sent a letter to the NCAA Committee on Infractions last month, suggesting that Michigan's football program should not face more sanctions related to the sign-stealing saga. After winning the 2023 national championship, Harbaugh left to coach the Los Angeles Chargers. The Wolverines open the season on Aug. 30 at home against New Mexico State and then play at Oklahoma, where Moore was an offensive lineman, on Sept. 6. Harbaugh was suspended by the Big Ten, three weeks after an investigation by the NCAA into the allegations began. Hours later, Michigan asked a court for an injunction and temporary restraining order and the two sides narrowly avoided a court hearing. Harbaugh has repeatedly denied any involvement in Stalions' apparent scheme. The NCAA does not have rules against stealing signs, but does prohibit schools from sending scouts to the games of future opponents and using electronic equipment to record another team's signals. Multiple Big Ten schools had records showing ticket purchases under Stalions' name and video surveillance footage of people in those seats with cell phones pointed toward the field. Big Ten coaches and athletic directors previously pushed Petitti to punish Harbaugh before the NCAA concluded its investigation. When the Big Ten did suspend Harbaugh, Michigan claimed the commissioner overstepped his authority and acted outside the conference's bylaws. Athletic director Warde Manuel released a scathing statement just before Michigan kicked off at Penn State and won 24-15 without Harbaugh on the sideline. Lions, Commanders, Bears Ticket Sales Spike Ahead Of 2025 Season
Ticket sales for the Detroit Lions, Washington Commanders and Chicago Bears show the biggest surge in price heading into the 2025 season when compared to last year, new data from ticket reseller Vivid Seats shows. Getty Images Surging demand has driven up ticket prices for the Lions home and away games by 29% year over year on the platform, and prices are up 24% for the Commanders and 21% for the Bears. The Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings also show increased demand, with a 17% and 16% increase in ticket prices from last year, respectively. Vivid Seats data show the Dallas Cowboys are the team with the most widespread fans, in 290 counties, more than any other team, followed by the Kansas City Chiefs (262 counties) and the Vikings (207 counties). When it comes to the most dedicated fans, the Eagles and Las Vegas Raiders lead—the Eagles have the most fans at away games, filling 47% of seats, and Raiders fans are willing to travel the furthest to see a game, averaging 575 miles per game last season.
