Golden Temple threat mails: Police send data retrieved from arrested engineer's devices for forensic analysis
The Punjab Police had Friday detained Shubam Dubey (24) from Faridabad in Haryana, in connection with threat e-mails sent to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). Police said that even after his arrest, more e-mails were received at the SGPC's official e-mail address.
According to police sources, the data recovered from Dubey's devices is extensive. 'Our investigation is moving in the right direction. We have been examining the devices belonging to Shubham and will soon crack the case,' said Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar.
Sources indicated that the e-mails were not limited to the Golden Temple. Similar emails were reportedly sent to authorities in several cities, including Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Delhi, Guwahati, Patna, Imphal, Kochi, Jaipur, Ranchi, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Bhopal.
Meanwhile, Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla slammed Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for not visiting Amritsar even once despite the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee receiving e-mails threatening to blow up the Golden Temple in the past few days.
He pointed out that the security around the Golden Temple is the responsibility of the Central and the state governments.
'Today is the sixth day of these threats, but Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has not come here even once,' said Aujla. Aujla appealed to CM Mann to face the people and give them complete information about the matter. 'Why has he himself not come to Amritsar yet?' he asked.
The Congress leader said devotees are worried over the bomb threats and slammed the AAP government, saying the issue cannot be resolved by staying 'hidden'.
The Amritsar MP said he is in touch with the SGPC, and the government should resolve it as soon as possible.
MLA Rana Gurjit Singh said the state government should look into this issue seriously. 'This is the age of technology, and criminals can be reached by using technology,' he said.
Meanwhile, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan visited Golden Temple and addressed concerns about the threat e-mails. He said, 'This is a sacred place where people of all faiths come for peace and protection. The police and administration are investigating the emails sent by mischievous elements. One person has already been arrested, and others will be arrested soon.'
Sandhwan added, 'Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is in constant contact with security agencies and the district administration. We assure everyone on behalf of the Punjab government that there is no threat or cause for concern.' He said Punjab Police is working 'day and night' to maintain security around the Darbar Sahib complex in accordance with established protocols.
He appealed to the public not to react to the threats. 'We assure the entire Nanak Naam Leva Sangat that there is no danger. There is no need to be provoked. Have faith in the Guru's house. Our agencies are working to apprehend the culprits.'
Separately, BJP's acting Punjab president Ashwani Sharma and national general secretary Tarun Chugh visited the Golden Temple. Sharma said, 'We have not come here as political leaders but as part of the Nanak Naam Leva Sangat.'
Sharma questioned the Punjab government's response, saying, 'The state government started acting only three days after the threats. The Chief Minister should have visited on the first day, but it took him four to five days. Even now, the response is not prompt.'
He added, 'The government says the culprits have been caught, yet threats are still being received. The state government has made this issue a joke.'
Punjab Police has not yet commented on the claims regarding delayed action. The investigation remains ongoing.

Jagan, Sajjala condemn arrest of Midhun Reddy
Vijayawada: YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and state coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy strongly condemned the arrest of YSRCP MP P V Midhun Reddy, labelling it a politically motivated conspiracy by the TDP-led government to silence opposition voices. Jagan, in a tweet, called the arrest a 'targeted act of vendetta' to mask TDP's own scams, alleging that the liquor scam case against Midhun is built on coerced confessions and lacks evidence. He accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, himself on bail for corruption cases from 2014-19, which were filed by his government, of reviving corrupt liquor practices like belt shops and permit rooms, undoing YSRCP's transparent state-controlled liquor system. Ramakrishna Reddy, speaking outside the ACB Court, dismissed the liquor scam as a fabricated narrative, noting the Special Investigation Team's failure to produce evidence despite fluctuating claims of losses from Rs 50,000 crore to Rs 3,000 crore. He challenged Naidu to probe both TDP and YSRCP tenures via Central agencies. Both leaders vowed that YSRCP would resist this 'witch-hunt' and continue advocating for the people, asserting the case's lack of legal merit will unravel in court.

Sumit Kumar instructed that measures be taken by Kadapa PWD and Samagra Shiksha APC to procure essential infrastructure including RO plants, doors, desks and other school-related materials for all 35 schools. The Collector made it clear that the works must meet quality standards across all 11 components involved, and there should be no compromise in this regard. He directed that progress reports, including details of sanctioned works, construction progress, and expenditure, be regularly submitted by the Samagra Shiksha APC. Mandal Education Officers (MEOs) of the respective mandals have been asked to frequently inspect the construction works and facilitate their speedy completion. Tenders should be called for procuring the necessary construction material. For every 25 per cent of construction work completed, measurement books (M-books) should be prepared and sent to the Samagra Shiksha APC to facilitate timely fund disbursement. Efforts will be made to ensure that payments are released promptly for every certified bill uploaded, the Collector added.

AP charts green hydrogen future at summit
Vijayawada: India's push towards a sustainable energy future gained significant traction at the two-day Green Hydrogen Summit hosted by SRM-AP. The event, which concluded on Friday, brought together a distinguished assembly of policymakers, industry titans, and researchers, underscoring AP's unwavering commitment to sustainable energy development under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The second day of the summit on Saturday was marked by a series of engaging plenary sessions, an industry-academia conclave, and strategic discussions. Leaders from industry, science, academia, and policy engaged in robust dialogues covering technology innovations, infrastructural requirements, off-taker options, and critical funding and policy frameworks essential for India's green hydrogen journey. Key discussions highlighted the cost-effectiveness, broad industrial applications, and inherent sustainability of green hydrogen. A dedicated panel also delved into the promising scope of fuel cells. Dr R Vijay, director-ARCI, emphasised the potential of metallic bipolar plates and the urgent need for establishing electrolyser plants to facilitate large-scale hydrogen production. While the summit broadly championed the advantages of hydrogen production, it also served as a crucial forum for addressing the inherent challenges. Scientists and academicians presented the benefits, while industry leaders brought forth practical hurdles. Karthikeya A from APEDB notably pointed out the often-overlooked necessity of off-takers for the produced hydrogen, questioning whether sufficient market demand truly exists to consume the output. Discussions focused on cultivating a collaborative ecosystem. Dr Mallikarjun Bhavanari stressed the imperative for synergy between academia and industry, identifying infrastructure, material accessibility, and robust research and development (R&D) as pivotal factors in positioning India as a global hydrogen superpower. During the valedictory session, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Ch Satish Kumar offered a thought-provoking perspective. 'Let's not just celebrate green hydrogen progress; let's also talk about the difficulties in production, the health implications, and community-level engagement,' he urged. Prof D Narayana Rao, executive director-research, SRM Group of Institutions, said the summit was a success. He announced that under the directive of the Chief Minister, SRM-AP, in collaboration with NREDCAP, will host the Hydrogen Summit annually to review the progress made in Andhra Pradesh's green hydrogen journey.
