Jagan, Sajjala condemn arrest of Midhun Reddy

Hans India21-07-2025
Vijayawada: YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and state coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy strongly condemned the arrest of YSRCP MP P V Midhun Reddy, labelling it a politically motivated conspiracy by the TDP-led government to silence opposition voices.
Jagan, in a tweet, called the arrest a 'targeted act of vendetta' to mask TDP's own scams, alleging that the liquor scam case against Midhun is built on coerced confessions and lacks evidence.
He accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, himself on bail for corruption cases from 2014-19, which were filed by his government, of reviving corrupt liquor practices like belt shops and permit rooms, undoing YSRCP's transparent state-controlled liquor system.
Ramakrishna Reddy, speaking outside the ACB Court, dismissed the liquor scam as a fabricated narrative, noting the Special Investigation Team's failure to produce evidence despite fluctuating claims of losses from Rs 50,000 crore to Rs 3,000 crore.
He challenged Naidu to probe both TDP and YSRCP tenures via Central agencies. Both leaders vowed that YSRCP would resist this 'witch-hunt' and continue advocating for the people, asserting the case's lack of legal merit will unravel in court.

Madiga organisations protest against Karnataka's Congress govt over reservation

Bengaluru: The district units of the Madiga organisations staged a protest against the Congress-led government in Karnataka on Friday at the Freedom Park, demanding immediate implementation of internal reservation. The organisations held protests in front of the offices of all Deputy Commissioners across the state. Speaking on the occasion, former Union Minister and senior BJP leader, A. Narayanaswamy, declared that the Madiga community will no longer wait or bow to false promises. "We will not wait until the next election," he asserted. Narayanaswamy further warned that if the Congress-led government in Karnataka fails to implement internal reservation immediately, Madigas would launch a strong disobedience movement against the government. He stated that protests are being held today (Friday) across all districts of the state, cutting across party lines. 'This is not a BJP-led movement,' he clarified. He questioned whether the Karnataka government values its chair more than the people's issues. 'Is development more important for the government, or is it just holding onto power?' he asked. 'Justice has not been served to the Madigas. Our patience has run out. We can't wait any longer. If we take to the streets, we know how to send you home,' Narayanaswamy warned. He also criticised the Chief Secretary for not holding a meeting when requested to discuss the injustices faced by Madigas since 1976. 'A reservation should not be given based only on population. The injustice faced by our community for over 40 years must be considered. If a higher reservation is not given based on decades of oppression, the Madiga community will be forced to launch an intense agitation,' he warned. He demanded that all past dues be cleared. 'If old promises are not fulfilled, we will organise an intense struggle,' he stated. Narayanswamy noted that protests are being held today in front of the Deputy Commissioners' offices in 26 districts, calling it a reflection of the awakening of the Madiga community. 'We want to remind many MLAs in this state that it would have been impossible for them to win without the Madiga vote,' he said. He criticised elected representatives who had won with Madiga votes but have now fallen silent. 'You don't speak for the Madigas, yet you have the audacity to come and ask for our votes?' he questioned. 'Is there any law in this country that says Madigas should not get reservations?' he asked. 'During Zilla Panchayat and other local body elections, they keep saying 'tomorrow, tomorrow' when it comes to reservation. You had the power to suspend the Constitution and declare an Emergency to retain your position as Prime Minister. But for the Dalit Madigas of this state and country, injustice has continued even after Independence. Many Madiga students are unable to pursue MBBS due to a lack of money. Do you even understand all this?' he questioned the Congress party. Narayanswamy questioned Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's commitment to socialism. 'The CM claims to be a socialist who delivers justice to all. Then what is he the champion of?' he asked. He criticised that not even a single scheme has been given to the backward Madigas in any sector. 'Where is your socialism?' he asked pointedly. He declared that this is not just a disobedience movement — it will become a movement to unseat the government. He thanked everyone who participated in the protest. BJP MLA Basavaraj Mattimadu, BJP state spokesperson H. Venkatesh Dodderi, BJP SC Morcha state vice-president Hoodi Manjunath, community leaders, and office-bearers of various organisations were present.

Mumbai police extradite man from Trinidad and Tobago for cyber extortion threats to Zeeshan Siddique

Mumbai: In a first-of-its-kind operation, the Mumbai Police successfully extradited a 33-year-old man, Mohammed Dilshad Naushad, a native of Darbhanga in Bihar, from the island nation of Trinidad and Tobago for allegedly sending extortion threats to NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique, posing as a D-Company operative. Dilshad, originally a resident of Darbhanga, Bihar, was arrested upon arrival at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport based on a Look Out Circular (LOC) issued through Interpol. In April, Zeeshan Siddiqui lodged a complaint of receiving death threats via mail, claiming to be from 'D' company, demanding protection money of Rs 10 crore. What baffled the security agencies was the fact that the threat sender dismissed police investigations and denied Lawrence Bishnoi's involvement in Baba Siddiqui's murder. Dilshad sent a series of threatening emails to Zeeshan Siddique, son of slain former MLA Baba Siddique, demanding Rs 10 crore in "protection money". The emails, sent between April 19 and 21, 2025, warned Siddique of a fate similar to his father's if the ransom was not paid. What alarmed investigators was the explicit mention of D-Company and the dismissal of Lawrence Bishnoi's involvement in Baba Siddiqui's murder, suggesting an attempt to mislead ongoing investigations. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like New Container Houses Indonesia (Prices May Surprise You) Container House | Search ads Search Now Undo You Can Also Check: Mumbai AQI | Weather in Mumbai | Bank Holidays in Mumbai | Public Holidays in Mumbai The Bandra police registered an FIR against the unknown email sender, and the Anti Extortion Cell (AEC) of the crime branch started a parallel investigation with the help of the cyber cell and Google officials. During the investigation, the IP address traced the origin of the threat emails to IP addresses in Trinidad and Tobago. "Through technical surveillance, Dilshad's identity was confirmed, and we sent a request to that country through Interpol Informal Request (IR) for his detention," said an official. With the help of the External Affairs Ministry, the police were able to extradite Naushad. When he landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminals in Mumbai, Naushad was placed under arrest. This marks the first instance of Mumbai Police extraditing an accused from Trinidad and Tobago, highlighting growing international cooperation in cyber-extortion cases. Upon his arrival on July 31, Dilshad was detained, and a Galaxy A14 mobile phone, SIM cards, and his passport were seized. He was booked under IPC Sections 308(4) and 351(3) at Bandra Police Station. The Anti-Extortion Cell secured his remand for further interrogation to probe possible links with organised crime syndicates. Baba Siddique, 66, was shot dead outside his son Zeeshan's office in Bandra (East) on Oct 12, 2024. Police arrested around 26 accused and invoked MCOCA against members of the Anmol Bishnoi gang.
