The drama began Saturday morning when Yankee reporters strolled into the clubhouse, and they noticed who was missing from the light out, Aaron Judge.
And given that the Yankees had just had an off day, and they were facing left-hander Raider Suarez, it stood to reason that something was amiss, something was wrong.
And that turned out to be the case during pregame, when Aaron Boone said to the world, uh, Aaron is dealing with some discomfort in his elbow.
The whole reason we even got to this point is because Aaron Judge couldn't throw.
And even though Aaron Judge said he felt this for the first time during the series in Toronto, he was kind of gutting it out until he couldn't, until he realized if I need to make a play, I cannot right now.
And even at that point, it sounds like he was still arguing, hey, I'm Aaron Judge.
Don't you want me in the lineup?
Can I just DH and just play through this?
They were like, yes, but also there's this other big guy that hits the ball really hard.
And we really don't want him to play in the outfield.
But the point is, it sounds like they would prefer because of what you just described that there is a path to rest and getting him back to throwing a baseball in this somewhat near future, that they're going with this path, which is still not a sure thing, but it is at least a first step.
I would describe this as good bad news, right?
Aaron Judge will continue to hit for the rest of the season, right?
Like that, that is a that is a win.
I think this is just the Yankees deciding to play this safe for now.
There is no reason to push it.
At this point, better or worse, the division feels kind of out of reach.
Yeah, the Yankees could come back, sure, but it's about making sure the Judge is able to throw, giving themselves the best chance at Judge being able to throw during the postseason.
That's kind of where we're at now, and I think giving him 10 days to just kind of chill makes a lot of sense.

Daniel Palencia pitched around a two-out double by Adley Rutschman in the ninth, retiring Tyler O'Neill on a fly to deep left for his 15th save in 16 chances. Rogers (4-2) was a tough-luck loser for Baltimore. The left-hander matched a career high by going eight innings and allowed one run and four hits. He struck out eight and walked none. Browns quarterback Kenny Pickett returns to the practice field after hamstring injury
BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Quarterback Kenny Pickett returned to the field for the Cleveland Browns on Friday after missing three practices because of a hamstring injury. Pickett did only individual work and did not participate in any team drills. It was still a step forward for the four-year veteran, who was expected to be out at least a week after getting hurt during a red-zone drill late in practice on July 26. 'Disappointed that he's not full go, but he's very much involved in everything we're doing,' coach Kevin Stefanski said. Pickett is vying with Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders for the starting quarterback spot. Cleveland opens the season on Sept. 7 against Cincinnati. The Browns have three more practices scheduled before traveling to Charlotte, North Carolina, for a joint practice with the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday. Stefanski did not say if he anticipated Pickett would be full go for the joint workout. During the first four practices of training camp, Pickett and Flacco received most of the snaps with the first team. Even though Flacco has experience with the Browns after leading them to a playoff spot in 2023, Stefanski is eager to see what Pickett can do. The coaching staff likes Pickett's mobility and ability to create plays on the run. Pickett was acquired from Philadelphia in March. A 2022 first-round draft selection by Pittsburgh, Pickett has 25 career starts with 15 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Stefanski did not say if he anticipated narrowing the quarterback field before he got to Carolina for the joint workouts and the first preseason game on Aug. 8. If Pickett is healthy, it is likely he and Flacco would get the work in the joint workouts, with Gabriel and Sanders then playing in the preseason game. 'I think for all of our positions, every single day is an important part of getting ready for the season and part of the evaluation. Micah Parsons' dad once named Chiefs, Steelers, Lions as preferred trade destinations
With Micah Parsons officially requesting a trade from the Dallas Cowboys, an old clip of his father, Terrence Parsons, talking about preferred destinations for his son in a hypothetical trade scenario has resurfaced. During an appearance on the "Life in the Stands" podcast in December 2024, Parsons' dad stated that his preferred trade landing spots for the superstar edge rusher are the Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Detroit Lions. "I know Pittsburgh fans are like, 'whoa,' but I'm sorry, him [Micah Parsons] and [T.J.] Watt together would be like cheating," Terrence Parsons said. "Him and [Aidan] Hutchinson together in Detroit would be like cheating. I love it. Kansas City, that's who they are right now." Parsons requested a trade out of Dallas due to the franchise's lack of communication with his agent. The 26-year-old's relationship with the Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones seems to be completely destroyed. Dallas has no plans of trading Parsons, but if they can't agree on a long-term extension with him, they may be forced to move him at some point. Parsons' father's landing spots for the four-time Pro Bowl edge rusher are bold. Adding Parsons to Kansas City's defense would be lethal, while pairing the disgruntled Cowboy with Watt or Hutchinson in Detroit would also be pretty much unstoppable. However, none of the teams Parsons' dad listed as preferred spots have the money to sign Parsons to a record-breaking extension. The Chiefs are slated to have negative $61 million in cap space next offseason, and the Steelers already have two expensive edge rushers in Watt and Alex Highsmith. As for the Lions, the team must prioritize getting an extension done with Hutchinson first, which likely takes them out of the running for Parsons. It's possible that Parsons lands with one of three destinations his dad spoke about during a podcast appearance last year, as all three franchises are playoff contenders, and two are legitimate Super Bowl contenders in Kansas City and Detroit. However, it remains to be seen whether any have the money to sign Parsons to a new deal after trading valuable picks for him while also keeping their core together.
