Making the case: Rolex's Everose and Hublot's Magic Gold and King Gold show off the latest in watchmaking alloy excellence

There's no shortage of innovation in horology, but lately, it's not just happening inside the case – it is the case.
At
Watches and Wonders 2025 , proprietary gold alloys stole the spotlight in some of the year's most significant launches. These aren't your traditional precious metals – they're patented blends developed by brands to enhance hardness, prevent fading, improve colour stability and create materials as distinctive as any dial or movement.

A prime example is A. Lange & Söhne, the German watchmaker revered for its exceptional engineering and low-volume approach. Its newest Odysseus Chronograph is rendered in Honeygold – a proprietary 18k gold alloy developed in 2010 with a hue between yellow and rose, reminiscent of honey. Used in only 14 references to date and reserved for limited editions and commemorative pieces, Honeygold isn't just notable for its tone – it's also significantly harder than conventional 18k gold, thanks to a custom mineral blend and specialised heat treatment.

This new Odysseus marks the first time Honeygold has been used in one of the brand's sportier models. Limited to 100 pieces, the 42.5mm watch features a newly developed integrated Honeygold bracelet and a brown, granular-textured dial. It's powered by the L156.1 Datomatic calibre, which delivers a 50-hour power reserve and 120 metres of water resistance – making it one of the most technically robust applications of Honeygold to date.

Watchmaking goliath Rolex , meanwhile, puts its proprietary Everose gold centre stage in the new Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller 36. First introduced in 2005, Everose addresses one of pink gold's primary weaknesses – tone degradation – by including a trace amount of platinum to preserve its colour over time. In the new Land-Dweller 36, the alloy is used throughout the case and bracelet and a honeycomb-pattern, laser-etched dial.
One model adds a diamond-set bezel and baguette-cut diamonds as hour markers. Inside, the range uses the calibre 7135, which includes the brand's new Dynapulse escapement, a Syloxi silicon hairspring and a ceramic balance staff – delivering a 66-hour power reserve. A specially engineered Flat Jubilee bracelet in Everose gold, featuring ceramic inserts and a concealed clasp, ensures a seamless finish.

Blue watches are back – in fresh shades, materials and textures: here's our rundown of the models that matter most from Rolex, Chanel, Vacheron Constantin, Parmigiani Fleurier, Hermès and Dior

If one thing stood out at Watches and Wonders 2025 , it was the return of blue. While the colour has long been a favourite in horology, this year's releases showed how brands are pushing the palette further, delivering unexpected textures, materials and finishes – from icy platinum to matte ceramic and pearly lacquer. Rolex's most talked-about launch, the new Land-Dweller, may have made headlines for its technical leap – the brand-new calibre 7135 and patented Dynapulse escapement – but aesthetically, all eyes were on the ice blue dial of ref. 127336. Reserved for platinum models, this signature hue now appears with a honeycomb pattern and satin finish, giving the brand's first all-new line since the Sky-Dweller in 2012 a dressier edge. The watchmaker also unveiled a blue-dial version of the Oyster Perpetual, available in case sizes ranging from 28mm to 41mm. Released to celebrate the brand's 160th anniversary and to honour founder Georges Favre-Jacot, the 39mm limited edition features a lapis lazuli dial with a mother-of-pearl centre seconds sub-dial and a platinum case with a bracelet engraved in a brick motif. Its movement, the calibre 135, dominated observatory accuracy competitions in the 1950s and now returns with modern upgrades, including a 72-hour power reserve. 'Blue has always been a defining element of Zenith's identity, symbolising our connection to the sky and the pioneering spirit that has driven us for 160 years,' says CEO Benoit de Clerck. To celebrate that legacy, the brand also launched a trio of bright blue ceramic chronographs: the Chronomaster Sport, Defy Skyline Chronograph and Pilot Big Date Flyback. 'More than a tribute to our heritage, these timepieces embody the spirit of innovation and craftsmanship that continue to shape the future of our maison. We are proud to celebrate this anniversary with such a bold and meaningful creation,' he adds. Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Quantième Perpétuel in platinum. The Toric Quantième Perpétuel in Morning Blue leans into understatement with a beautifully hand-grained dial in a pale, powdery blue. The 40.6mm case is framed by the Toric's signature knurled bezel, sculpted in platinum, with a clean coaxial calendar layout. Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 XP CS in platinum. The new Alpine Eagle 41 XP CS, housed in platinum with an ultra-slim 8mm profile, features what the brand calls its Shades of Ice dial – a textured radial pattern inspired by an eagle's iris, rendered in glacial blue. The CS (Central Seconds) model features a bold arrow-tipped central seconds hand and baton indices. The movement – a COSC-certified, Poinçon de Genève-stamped calibre 96.42-L – is powered by a platinum micro-rotor and is visible through the sapphire caseback. Chanel J12 Bleu X-Ray. Photo: Handout

Victoria Beckham on the upcoming Netflix documentary she says David Beckham talked her into, her Patek Philippe collection – and why security guards are the most important people in her stores

For someone who has been famous since the late 1990s, Victoria Beckham is surprisingly busy in the 2020s. After many years in the red, her eponymous fashion company Victoria Beckham Holdings Ltd, is back on the road to profitability – no small thing for an independent luxury fashion brand. Beckham also introduced a successful fragrance line two years ago, and became the accidental star of a Netflix documentary series about her husband David Beckham. Her charming, funny cameos showed a playful and relatable side to the megawatt couple, they of the matching purple Versace wedding outfits Victoria Beckham's pre-spring/summer 2026 collection at Centurion New York was the first time her resort collection was shown in person. Photo: @victoriabeckham/Instagram Advertisement This year is looking no less buzzy for Victoria. For the first time ever, she showed her resort collection in person, rather than digitally, at a glamorous trunk show at Centurion New York. In autumn, Beckham will be the star of her own Netflix docuseries, which will follow her day to day as the creative director of her fashion and beauty brands. Victoria Beckham will star in her own Netflix documentary later in the year, following her journey from singer to fashion designer. Photo: @victoriabeckham/Instagram In an exclusive interview, we sat down to discuss her future plans, the most important person in her stores and what she collects. Our conversation has been condensed and edited for clarity. A model wearing a Victoria Beckham dress from the spring 2025 collection. Photo: @victoriabeckham/Instagram So what made you decide to show this latest collection in New York? I was having brunch with Thom Browne and Anna Wintour a few months ago, as you do, and she said to me, 'You should come back to New York and show one of your collections.' It's something that I've been thinking about for a while, because I showed my first ever collection here in New York in 2008. New York has been such a huge part of my story so far. I was approached by Amex to come over here, and it just worked perfectly to do it. Were you nervous when you did that first presentation in 2008?
