Marcus Rashford next club odds after Manchester United set asking price

Metro3 days ago

Manchester United want £40m for Marcus Rashford and the striker wants to join a Champions League club, so where will he be playing his football next season?
The 27-year-old spent the second half of this season on loan at Aston Villa after falling out of favour under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.
The loan spell saw him score two goals in 10 Premier League appearances and four in 17 across all competitions.
There were some exciting and encouraging moments without the England international sparking fully back into life under Unai Emery, not helped by a hamstring injury that ended his campaign early.
The season also ended in disappointment for Villa as Rashford could only watch on against his parent club, with Manchester United beating the Villains 2-0 on the final day of the season.

That result cost Emery's side Champions League football and they will have to make do with the Europa League for the next campaign.
Writing on Instagram the morning after the defeat at Old Trafford, Rashford posted: 'Just a message of thanks to everyone here at Villa for what has (injury aside) been an incredible few months for me.
'It is a really special club and I appreciated the way Villa fans embraced me with open arms from 1st minute on the pitch.
'Manager, team, and coaching staff have all been brilliant.
'I know it is a huge disappointment not to have made the Champions League place which everyone worked so hard all season for but I know this club and team will come back stronger. [love heart emoji]'
That message seemed to suggest a return to Villa Park was unlikely and the bookmakers agree, with a move to Barcelona now the clear favourite for Rashford.

Both player and club are reportedly keen to make the move happen, with Rashford open to taking a significant pay-cut from his current Manchester United wages of around £350,000-a-week.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick was asked about interest in the 62-cap England international, along with links to Liverpool winger Luis Diaz.
'They are both fantastic players. I like them and we'll see what happens,' the German told reporters.
Barcelona's sporting director Deco made similar comments, telling RAC1: 'We like Luis and we like Rashford. However, we can't talk about players who are under contract.
'For me, it's much more important to improve what we have at home.'
The Sun report that Rashford will hold out for a Champions League club as long as possible, which restricts his options significantly. More Trending
The bookmakers do not see too many likely other options currently, with a stay at Manchester United second favourite in the betting for Rashford's club beyond September 3.
That would be a blow for the Red Devils who are keen to get his wages off the books and bring in a transfer fee to help a huge overhaul of the squad this summer.
A move to a Saudi Arabian team is also considered an option, although would obviously not meet the forward's Champions League criteria, while a return to Villa is not off the table but is also not considered likely.
The likes of PSG, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan are not too far down the betting list, but are speculative shouts at best.

Why Achraf Hakimi didn't celebrate scoring the opening goal of the Champions League final

Achraf Hakimi scored the opening goal of the Champions League final to put Paris Saint-Germain in front against Inter Milan - but the right back did not celebrate. Hakimi finished Desire Doue's clever cut-back, scoring into an empty net to round off a lovely move from the French side, to give PSG the lead in Munich. However, Hakimi immediately raised his hands in apology to the Inter supporters who were behind Yann Sommer's goal at the Allianz Arena. The 26-year-old Morocco international played for Inter before joining PSG in 2021. He played one season in Italy, but it was a hugely successful one and Inter won Serie A that year. Hakimi was an integral part of Inter's title under Antonio Conte and scored seven goals from right wing back as he was named in the Serie A team of the year. Hakimi is now widely known as the best right back in the world and his goal against Inter means he has scored in the final, semi-final and quarter-final.

Cameron Norrie overcomes Jacob Fearnley to reach second week of French Open

Norrie secured a likely showdown with Novak Djokovic after a straight-sets win in a surreal match played out to an ear-splitting backdrop of explosions and pyrotechnics. The din was down to thousands of Paris St Germain fans gathering for the Champions League final outside the Parc des Princes, which is a stone's throw from Court Simonne-Mathieu and was showing the game on a big screen. Norrie has booked his ticket to the fourth round! 🎟️#RolandGarros — Roland-Garros (@rolandgarros) May 31, 2025 But Fearnley struggled to produce any fireworks as the more experienced Norrie extended his stay in the French capital into the second week. It will be Norrie's first appearance at this stage and, with Jack Draper already through, Britain has two men in the fourth round for the first time in French Open history. Tennis players usually like to play in silence but this end of Paris sounded more like a war zone. Serving was proving difficult for both men with explosions going off almost every time one of them tossed the ball. At one point during a crucial second-set tie-break, Norrie had to abort his service motion completely amid a series of loud bangs. Fearnley may have overtaken Norrie in the world rankings, but the 23-year-old made a nervous start amid the deafening noise. Norrie was a set and two breaks up before Fearnley, who has only just completed a first full year on the Tour, found his feet and levelled the second set. But despite the disruption, 29-year-old Norrie held his nerve in the tie-break to move two sets up. The noise finally subsided, and the crowd shrunk considerably, as kick-off approached leaving Norrie to complete a 6-3 7-6 (1) 6-2 victory in two hours and 43 minutes. Another historic day on the Parisian clay 🙌 For the first time since 1963, two British men are in the last 16 of @rolandgarros#BackTheBrits 🇬🇧 | #RolandGarros — LTA (@the_LTA) May 31, 2025 'I am happy I played a solid match. It was a great atmosphere,' said Norrie. 'I went through about seven shirts in three sets. I was sweating a lot and had to work really hard for that, so it feels good to get through. 'I think the toughest part was managing the fireworks. That was difficult for both of us.'
