MOFSL Q1 profit jumps 40 pc to record Rs 1,430 cr on robust AMC growth

New Delhi, Jul 24 (PTI) Motilal Oswal Financial Services on Thursday reported its highest-ever quarterly net profit of Rs 1,430 crore for the June quarter, marking a 40 per cent year-on-year jump, buoyed by robust performance across asset management, private wealth and capital markets businesses.
Its consolidated net operating revenue rose 24 per cent to Rs 1,412 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal, the company said in a statement.
The operating profit after tax stood at Rs 522 crore, up 21 per cent, reflecting strong momentum in Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd's (MOFSL) twin-engine growth model, comprising core operations and treasury investments, it added.
The firm's asset and private wealth management vertical delivered a 43 per cent growth in profit to Rs 224 crore, while revenue from this division climbed 46 per cent to Rs 560 crore, the company said.
Mutual fund AUM surged 90 per cent year-on-year to nearly Rs 1.17 lakh crore, with SIP flows also strengthening.
The group's total client base crossed 1.36 crore, with assets under advice surpassing Rs 6.5 lakh crore. Its net worth rose 28 per cent to Rs 12,537 crore and return on equity stood at 48 per cent for the quarter, it added.
'Q1 FY26 has been a landmark quarter for us, delivering the highest-ever PAT of Rs 1,430 crore, with exceptional performance across all our businesses.
'These results reflect the depth of the group's expertise across capital markets (retail to institutional) and the enormous opportunity arising from India's accelerating financialisation of savings," MOFSL's MD and CEO Motilal Oswal said. PTI HG HG BAL BAL

He added that while technology has revolutionised lives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, its misuse must be curbed to protect youth and FEATURES OF THE BILL 1. Promotion of E-Sports - E-sports are formally recognised as a competitive sport.- The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports will set up training academies, research centres, and tech platforms.- Incentive schemes and integration into the national sports policy will bolster the ecosystem. 2. Encouragement of Social and Educational Games- The Central Government will categorise and register age-appropriate, safe games.- Special focus on games with educational, cultural, and skill-development value.- Campaigns will promote gaming's role in digital literacy and constructive engagement. 3. Total Ban on Real-Money Online Games- A blanket ban on offering, advertising, or facilitating fantasy sports, rummy, poker, online lotteries, or betting apps.- Financial institutions are barred from processing related transactions.- Platforms that violate the law can be blocked under the IT Act, 2000. 4. Establishment of Online Gaming Authority - A national-level regulator will be formed to monitor and register online games. - The Authority will have powers to issue guidelines, enforce compliance, and handle complaints. 5. Stringent Penalties for Violations - Offering money games: up to 3 years imprisonment and/or Rs 1 crore fine. - Advertising money games: up to 2 years imprisonment and/or Rs 50 lakh fine. - Transactions linked to banned games: up to 3 years imprisonment and/or Rs 1 crore fine. - Repeat offenders face up to 5 years jail and Rs 2 crore fine. - All key offences are cognisable and non-bailable. 6. Corporate Liability - Company officers are held accountable unless due diligence is proven. - Independent directors uninvolved in decisions are exempt from liability. 7. Enforcement and Security Provisions - The Bill addresses addiction, financial losses, suicides, and the use of platforms for money laundering and terror financing. - Enforcement officers are empowered to search, seize, and arrest without a warrant. - Aligned with laws like the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. 8. 1 2 3 4 Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board (APSPCB) on Wednesday conducted a public hearing for environmental clearance to the proposed 1,200MW Kalai-II hydroelectric project in Anjaw district, being developed by THDC India Limited. The hearing, chaired by Anjaw DC Millo Kojin, saw the participation of women and child development minister Dasanglu Pul, THDC officials and over 350 project-affected persons (PAFs) from 33 villages. Pul, recalling that her late husband and former CM Kalikho Pul had initiated survey work for Kalai-I and II in 2009, said she was glad to see his vision nearing reality. Urging locals to back the project, she cited Uttarakhand's Tehri dam as an example of the benefits of large hydropower infrastructure. She also assured that 50% of the project's employment opportunities would be reserved for land-affected families, besides boosting self-employment and entrepreneurship in the region. With an investment of nearly Rs 14,000 crore, Kalai-II is expected to generate free power worth Rs 318 crore annually after commissioning, while contributing Rs 2.2 crore every year to the Local Area Development Fund. While most speakers backed the project, concerns were raised by some over land rates, compensation, employment and the local area development. Summing up, DC Kojin assured villagers that their suggestions would be reflected in the minutes and proposed exposure visits for two representatives from each affected village to Uttarakhand's Tehri dam.
