OWC Launches Touch-Screen SSD With Military Grade Data Protection

Other World Computing has announced the launch of the OWC Guardian, a new and portable SSD that's designed for anyone who needs to easily safeguard sensitive data without sacrificing speed or simplicity.
OWC Guardian offers a high level of data security and is easy to use. It's compatible with USB-C Macs, iPad Pros and PCs. Users connect the device, enter a password on the built-in color touchscreen and then transfer files using drag and drop.

The new drive doesn't need any software and its performance remains smooth without compatibility issues. The OWC Guardian uses 256-bit AES OPAL hardware encryption to automatically encrypt data during writing and then decrypts it upon authorized access.
The touchscreen on the SSD has PIN or passphrase entry. There are additional features including multi-user access, read-only mode, secure erase and a randomized keypad layout. The OWC Guardian is aimed at anyone handling sensitive or personal data and supports compliance needs without adding to workflow complexity.
Supporting real-world transfer speeds up to 1000MB/s and available in capacities up to 4TB, the OWC Guardian is suitable for large file backups, media transfers and 4K video editing.
The keypad on the OWC Guardian makes unlocking data easy as long as you have the PIN or password.

Newsmax agrees to pay $67M settlement in defamation case over 2020 election claims
DENVER (AP) — The conservative network Newsmax will pay $67 million to settle a lawsuit accusing it of defaming a voting equipment company by spreading lies about President Donald Trump's 2020 election loss, according to documents filed Monday. The settlement comes after Fox News paid $787.5 million to settle a similar lawsuit in 2023 and Newsmax paid what court papers describe as $40 million to settle a libel lawsuit from a different voting machine manufacturer, Smartmatic, which also was a target of pro-Trump conspiracy theories on the network. Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric Davis ruled earlier that Newsmax did indeed defame Denver-based Dominion Voting Systems by airing false information about the company and its equipment. But Davis left it to a jury to eventually decide whether that was done with malice, and, if so, how much Dominion deserved from Newsmax in damages. Newsmax and Dominion reached the settlement before the trial could take place. The settlement was disclosed by Newsmax on Monday in a new filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. It said the deal was reached Friday. The disclosure came as Trump vowed in a social media post Monday to eliminate mail-in ballots and voting machines such as those supplied by Dominion and other companies.
