James Corden's neighbours criticise plans for ‘eyesore' garden room
James Corden's neighbours have criticised plans for a 'garden room' outside his £11.5 million mansion.
The Gavin and Stacey star, 46, moved back to the UK last year with his wife, Julia Carey, and their three children: Max, 13, Carey, 10, and Charlotte, seven.
But the family's neighbours in north-west London have issued 18 complaints over plans to construct an outbuilding in the garden, the MailOnline reported.
One neighbour pointed out that a member of the family regularly played the drums, 'which can often be heard on my terrace and occasionally inside my flat even with the windows closed'.
They added: 'What happens if they decide to move the drum kit out of the house and put it in the den?'
The new, proposed garden room would be the size of a one-bedroom flat, complete with an office space, gym, pool and sauna, kitchen and terrace.
Beyond complaints over noise, locals have raised concerns over the surrounding trees' welfare, commissioning a report into the project's impact on them.
Corden's application claimed that no tree would be affected but the report's expert disagreed, saying it was 'very likely that 'retained' trees will suffer and/or be removed'.
Neighbours have also taken issue with the impact on garden views. A resident said that an 'ugly outlook' would be a 'loss' and another said the building risked becoming 'an eyesore'.
One said the plans were 'totally unreasonable'.
Another neighbour complained that the outbuilding would be set just one metre away from their 'neighbour's boundaries'.
The TV presenter returned to the UK late last year after his eight-year tenure at The Late Late Show in the US.
The family also own a home in Oxfordshire, which is being renovated into an £8 million mansion.
The Cordens received approval to demolish a 1960s house on the site after a year, following objections from the local council and English Heritage.

Sam Thompson crosses the marathon finish line in agony after raising £1,500,000
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Sam Thompson was full of emotion as he crossed the finish line of his mammoth 260-mile endurance challenge, which has seen him raise £1.5million for charity. The Made In Chelsea star, 32, has undergone an impressiv journey transporting the Soccer Aid matchball 60 miles from London's Stamford Bridge to Manchester's Old Trafford ground. Sam took part in the challenge to raise money for Unicef, which provides aid to children, including health, nutrition, education, and emergency relief. He has battled through agonising pain to make it to the finish line, after a nasty injury on the first day when he tore his calf muscle. The podcast host made it to the end on foot, however, and was embraced by his sister Louise, her fiancé Ryan Libbey, and their three-year-old son Leo. Sam has raised a whopping £1,516,433 for Unicef, sharing his thanks to those who have supported him along the way. 'My legs have completely gone, but I feel good. I'm so grateful for everyone being here, I didn't think anyone would turn up,' he said (per MailOnline). 'To everyone who has donated, I've said it before, but I'll say it a million times, you are so heroic. The money will help so many children, I'm so grateful.' Speaking to MailOnline, he revealed how he was left 'crying into his physio' when he thought his leg injury meant he could not complete the marathon. 'And just 2km away from the finish line of the first marathon on day one, my calf popped, and when that happened, I remember crying,' he said. 'I was crying into the physio, whose a lovely guy, into his arms pretty much being like: 'I'm not going to be able to do this,' and he went 'I don't know what to tell you, this isn't go away, you're not going to be able to put any weight on it, it's a three-and-a-half, four week recovery period, so I don't know what to tell you, and I just burst into tears. That was a really bad day.' He has been supported along the way by several famous faces, including Chris Hughes, Jamie Laing, and Staying Relevant podcast co-host Pete Wicks. Speaking to Metro earlier in the week, Sam shared how he was determined to 'stop crying' when being surprised by his supportive pals along the way. 'I've decided I'm not going to cry anymore. I can't keep crying. I keep crying. I cried like, three times already, and we're on day three! 'It was, I don't know how to describe it. It's, it's one of those things where, because you just don't know it's coming, and you're in a world of pain, and you're just trying to think, 'one foot in front of the other, one foot in front of the other.' 'And then you see somebody who'd been your rock through everything, just at some random junction, like in the middle of the road. 'I can't explain the feeling. It's just like, it's like seeing home when you are miles away.' He also praised the support fellow reality TV star Laing gave him, who ran his own ultramarathon for Comic Relief. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'I spoke to him a lot. He's a very good friend of mine. He's been messaging me throughout this, actually, as well. He's really been there for me, and he's obviously been through it himself,' he continued. More Trending 'So I'm so grateful to have him there as well.' He added that all the people who have come out to support him, along with the money he's raising for an incredible cause, are keeping him going during the tough moments. 'I'm just a vehicle – clearly a bad vehicle because I can't even keep one leg good – but I'm a vehicle for this journey. The journey is all about Unicef. It's all about the kids,' Sam said. 'It's the donors who donate, and the donations that are coming in. Any person who literally donates one pound is the hero of this story. And it's just, it has shocked me just how heroic people are to do this when times are obviously incredibly tough. It just, it's blown me away.' Got a story? 'I randomly found David Beckham's wallet on street and his reply surprised me'
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal once found David Beckham's wallet on the ground and humorously threatened to charge a hefty fee for its return. The pair, who have been mates for quite some time, first crossed paths while Beckham was playing for LA Galaxy in Los Angeles. Shaq, an ex-LA Lakers star, admitted on The Late Late Show with James Corden that his initial impulse was to pocket the cash from the wallet he discovered in Beverly Hills. "I was walking one day in Beverly Hills and I found a wallet," the 53-year-old shared with a chuckle. "Usually when I find wallets, I just take all the money out and I just throw them," he quipped. "But this was a nice wallet." Upon realising the wallet belonged to Beckham after spotting his ID, Shaq decided to have a bit of fun with the football icon by pretending to demand payment. "First I played a joke," the towering athlete recounted. "I was like, 'I have your wallet, it's going to cost you a million dollars to get it back'. But he knew it was me. [Beckham said] 'Shaq, stop playing'. I was like 'Dave, I found your wallet'. The amusing part is he [Beckham] said, 'There was some money in this wallet, you know what happened?' And I was like, 'Nope.'", reports the Mirror. Having hung up his basketball boots in 2012, Shaq remains one of the game's most celebrated players. Standing at an imposing 7ft 1in, he clinched four NBA championships – three with the Lakers during the Kobe Bryant era and another with the Miami Heat. In 2000, he was recognised as NBA MVP and made 15 All-Star appearances throughout a remarkable career that also saw him play for the Orlando Magic, the Phoenix Suns, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics. Beckham hung up his boots in 2013, a year after O'Neal, having played for top-tier clubs such as Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan, and PSG. He also donned the England jersey 115 times and served as captain for six years. Although now residing in the UK with his wife Victoria, Beckham frequently jets across the pond. He holds part-ownership of MLS team Inter Miami, who caused a stir in 2023 by securing Lionel Messi's signature.
