Moroccan farmers' union demands wage equality
This call follows a meeting on Friday, April 4, ahead of the SNOA's fourth congress. The occasion was notably used to express support for Moroccan agricultural workers in Spain, who are targeted by a defamation campaign that undermines their dignity. The union also revisited the conditions of workers and their demands, as a new cycle of social dialogue approaches between the most represented unions, the government, and employers.
In this context, the organization recommended holding a sectoral meeting with the Minister of Employment to address the priority issues in the SNOA's claim dossier, which was submitted to the department in May and October 2024. The SNOA also condemned the «non-compliance with the collective agreement» established between the Federation and Mazaria (a subsidiary of Copag) for «more than two years».
Furthermore, the SNOA called on its local sections and the FNSA to join a «national communication and struggle campaign», the details of which will be announced soon «to make the voice of agricultural workers heard during the April session of social dialogue».
This call comes in the context where the SNOA has joined other trade union organizations in advocating for the freezing of the implementation of the organic law on the right to strike, which it considers a threat to workers' achievements. Last week, the FNSA announced plans for international recourse against this law.

The US Federal Register revealed on May 30 that Morocco is anticipated to acquire 612 Javelin missiles and 200 launch units from the US. The deal is expected to be worth approximately $260 million. Earlier this year, the country struck a deal to buy Chinese-made TB-001K 'Scorpion' drones for reconnaissance and strike missions. Morocco also received in February its first delivery of Bayraktar Akinci drones from Turkey following a 2023 agreement, aiming to secure surveillance over its borders in its southern provinces. Moroccan Royal Armed Forces present at AFRICOM leadership handover
