Alexander Isak is now on the verge of joining Liverpool after the latest updates around Newcastle.
It's pretty clear that the Swede has made his decision, and it's also pretty clear that the Magpies have accepted that decision.

Everything points towards Isak joining Liverpool. It's just a matter of time. Not if it happens but when.
For Michael Edwards this has been a pursuit long in the making. His group of scouts and recruitment team have identified Isak as a target for Liverpool all the way back when he was playing in Sweden as a teenager at AIK.
They then wanted to sign him while at Real Sociedad but missed out on his signature.
Now, at the third time of asking, Liverpool will do everything to make the deal happen. And they are now on the verge of completing the move.

The biggest obstacle in the matter has always been Newcastle. They have been reluctant to accept the fact that Isak wants to leave and there is nothing they can do to stop him.
But finally there seems to be an acceptance on their part, and progress in bringing in replacements for the Swede.
This became clear in the latest flurry of updates on Friday. The first positive was that Newcastle are ready to finalise a deal for Yoanne Wissa as per Sky Sports' Keith Downie writing on X.
Wissa is just one part of the puzzle though. Newcastle want a younger forward to replace Isak. Their pursuit obviously ended miserably missing out on Benjamin Sesko.
However, they are now moving onto alternative targets. David Ornstein has reported in The Athletic that the Magpies are now working on a deal for Porto striker, Samu.

Video: Thiaw ‘very happy with decision, ready for Newcastle United'

Malick Thiaw looks back on his favourite memory in the Milan jersey, but is 'very happy with my decision and ready for the Premier League' with Newcastle United. The defender spoke to Sky Sport Italia as he flew out for his medical tests, which will be performed tomorrow morning. It is going to be a permanent transfer for circa €40m including add-ons, although there are a few different versions in the media on how those will be spread out. (Photo by) 'It was a pleasure to spend three years here, I learned a lot,' said Thiaw in Italian. 'I grew as a player, but above all as a person. I just want all the best for those people I spent time with here, the players, staff and medics.' Germany international Thiaw was asked for his favourite memory in the Milan jersey and looked to the showdown at San Siro with rivals Inter. 'It's difficult to choose, but I think when we were in the Champions League semi-final. That was incredible,' he replied. That did not go well, as the Rossoneri lost and Inter went on to lose the Final to Manchester City in 2023. 🚨📹 Malick Thiaw leaving Milan on his way to Newcastle: 'I want to thank everyone at AC Milan, I've learned a lot. The best memory? Our path to the UCL semifinal. Newcastle? Happy of this choise, I'm ready for the Premier League'. 🔴⚫️ #ACMilan #NUFC @SkySport — Luca Bendoni (@LucaBendoni) August 10, 2025 Thiaw had been on the verge of a move to Como for circa €25m earlier in the summer, but he turned it down because he saw this as a backwards step compared to Milan. Now he has accepted the transfer to Newcastle United, with Milan also pocketing a healthy profit. 'I am very happy with my decision, I am ready for the Premier League,' he concluded.

Arne Slot confirms why Liverpool are ready to break transfer record AGAIN

A lot of money has been spent by Liverpool and while the outgoings are reducing our net spend, you can't really avoid the fact that we've obliterated our spending record for a transfer window. No Liverpool fan has ever seen anything like it, the past few months have been a fever dream. 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the away range TODAY LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! Of course, the club had a lot of players to replace, not least Diogo Jota who sadly passed away, alongside Luis Diaz, Jarell Quansah, Caoimhin Kelleher and Darwin Nunez leaving on transfers. 🔴 Making the necessary adjustments to the starting XI was going to be difficult and expensive, but Arne Slot spoke to the media this week and revealed his perspective on our lavish spending. Spending 100 million is 'normal' for Liverpool In an interview with Men in Blazers, Slot said: "It's hardly impossible to bring a player in who is good enough to play for us for a small amount of money because every player who is playing for us, that won for league for us, is probably worth 100m or more. "So if you want to bring in a player that can play with these players, or be competition for these players, then you almost have to spend that amount of money, unless you just find that one player that no one ever saw and all of a sudden, you can buy him for 30m and he's good enough to be a player for 100m, but that's not going to happen every single time. "If we want to improve the team, or if we want to bring players in that are good enough to play for us, then spending this amount is 'normal' and this is also what this club did with Alisson in the past, with Virgil Van Dijk in the past and if you add inflation, then you come to the numbers we've just paid for Florian Wirtz, for example." The club is striving for perfection and last season's efforts in the Premier League were extraordinary, even though our efforts in the other competitions might have felt a little underwhelming. This time, Slot is adamant that we can deliver more, and new signings in that context weren't going to be cheap. It's been well documented that the transfer market valuations have become increasingly inflated over the last few years, simply because of the deals that clubs are doing, irrespective of the general inflation rate going up in England and across the world when you consider the different currencies. But the £116m that Liverpool have agreed to spend on Florian Wirtz genuinely feels like an accurate figure, even though a few years ago, we might have been looking at £80-90m for the German star. In terms of Euros, the club nearly broke the 100m mark for Hugo Ekitike as his £79m fee (all-in) converts to €91m. His signing was necessary and the club will have a long-term vision of him helping the side to reach even greater heights under Arne Slot, following in Jurgen Klopp's footsteps. Further attacking signings are being considered, with Alexander Isak at Newcastle hoping to join in a deal worth a British transfer record fee, with Bradley Barcola and Rodrygo Goes also on our radar. They would also breach the 100m mark, regardless of which currency the milestone is reached, and as Slot said in his interview, breaking into a team of 100m players requires an expensive signing. So don't be surprised to see further spending moving forward. The Reds are held in the very high esteem when it comes to Slot and he will only bring players in that he feels can improve our level.
