The fraud reportedly took place between July 1, 2024 and March 26, 2025. Complainant, Mukesh Jain of Indore, along with several other readymade garment traders, lodged complaints against the accused and his associates.
According to investigators, the accused approached the garment traders under the pretence of securing bulk orders from clients in various states through his firm, Shri Indreshwar Textile Agency in Indore.
He promised that payments would be made within 30 to 45 days and introduced clients as reliable. Believing the assurances, several garment firms entered into transactions and supplied goods worth nearly Rs 1.7 crore to traders in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Rajasthan and Telangana through accused.
However, no payments were ever received for the supplied consignments. Repeated attempts by the victims to recover the money failed as the accused stopped responding to calls and eventually shut down their offices.
The firms that allegedly received goods include VR Trading, Sai Impex, Harsha Traders, Royal Creation, VA Textiles, Rashi Collection, PWalls Overseas Ltd, Shivshakti Industries, Zubiya Textiles, Fabric World, and Khushboo Enterprises.
Following investigation, the Crime Branch team tracked down and apprehended Kirit Jadeja alias Kartik, 40, a resident of Kutch district (Gujarat), from Thane in Maharashtra. He is currently on police remand, and further interrogation is underway to identify and nab other members of the racket.
Authorities are looking into the recovery of defrauded amount and return of unsold garment stock.
