Classic Metal Band Announces Final Album and Farewell Tour
Classic Metal Band Announces Final Album and Farewell Tour originally appeared on Parade. When it comes to American metal, there are the "big four" bands, the pillars of headbanging, that laid the foundation for the past forty years: , Slayer, , and Megadeth. With Dave Mustaine at the helm, Megadeth has forged an incredible legacy with albums like Killing Is My Business…and Business Is Good!, Peace Sells…But Who's Buying?, and Rust in Peace (considered one of the best thrash metal records of all time). Sadly, not even metal lasts forever. Mustaine, 63, announced on Aug. 14 that Megadeth's upcoming album, expected in 2026, will be the band's last. That year, the band will embark on a global farewell tour. Mustaine shared the news via his alter ego (and Megadeth's mascot), Vic Rattlehead. "There are so many musicians that have come to the end of their career, whether accidental or intentional," said Mustaine in a press release. "Most of them don't get to go out on their own terms on top, and that's where I'm at in my life right now. I have traveled the world and have made millions upon millions of fans, and the hardest part of all of this is saying goodbye to them." "We've made a lot of friends over the years, and I hope to see all of you on our global farewell tour," adds Mustaine. "Don't be mad, don't be sad, be happy for us all, come celebrate with me these next few years. We have done something together that's truly wonderful and will probably never happen again." "We started a musical style, we started a revolution, we changed the guitar world and how it's played, and we changed the world," he added. "The bands I played in have influenced the world. I love you all for it. Thank you for everything." Mustaine also announced that in 2026, he'll release a new memoir. Details of that will arrive in the coming months. Megadeth Announces Final Album and Farewell Tour Megadeth was formed in 1983, under acrimonious circumstances. For the prior two years, Dave Mustaine was Metallica's lead guitarist, writing some of the band's earliest songs. The group fired Mustaine before recording their debut, Kill' Em All, and the tension between Dave and Metallica has always been a public interest. Mustaine has been a controversial figure in the metal world, thanks to some of the inflammatory comments and fans clashing with his outspoken personal and religious convictions. But his impact on metal is undeniable. And fans will get one last chance to see him in person before he heads off into heavy metal Metal Band Announces Final Album and Farewell Tour first appeared on Parade on Aug 14, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Aug 14, 2025, where it first appeared.

Megadeth to End After 2026 Album and Farewell Tour
Megadeth, photo by Ross Halfin Megadeth will soon be no more. Frontman and co-founder Dave Mustaine shared that the thrash metal band will break up after releasing a new album in 2026 and going on a farewell tour. Details on the album and tour are scarce, but Megadeth did reveal the album's artwork. Find that, along with a video about the end of Megadeth, below. 'There's so many musicians that have come to the end of their career, whether accidental or intentional,' Mustaine said in a press statement. 'Most of them don't get to go out on their own terms on top, and that's where I'm at in my life right now. I have traveled the world and have made millions upon millions of fans and the hardest part of all of this is saying goodbye to them.' He continued: 'We can't wait for you to hear this album and see us on tour. If there was ever a perfect time for us to put out a new album, it's now. If there was ever a perfect time to tour the world, it's now. This is also a perfect time for us to tell you that it's our last studio album. We've made a lot of friends over the years, and I hope to see all of you on our global farewell tour. Don't be mad; don't be sad; be happy for us all; come celebrate with me these next few years. We have done something together that's truly wonderful and will probably never happen again. We started a musical style; we started a revolution; we changed the guitar world and how it's played; and we changed the world. The bands I played in have influenced the world. I love you all for it. Thank you for everything.' Dave Mustaine founded Megadeth in 1983 after being fired from Metallica. His new band released its debut album, Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!, in 1985, and Megadeth operated at a steady clip until going on hiatus between 2002 and 2004. The most recent Megadeth album, The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead!, landed in September 2022. Joining Mustaine in the band's final iteration are bassist James LoMenzo, drummer Dirk Verbeuren, and guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari. Mustaine revealed in 2019 that he was diagnosed with throat cancer. The following year, he said that he was cancer-free. Mustaine plans to release a new memoir in 2026. Originally Appeared on Pitchfork Solve the daily Crossword

All linked products are independently selected by our editors. If you purchase any of these products, we may earn a commission. A word to honeyed golds, gleaming bronzes and glowing rose golds: the great jewellery trend pendulum has swung once more — and it's silver's turn in the spotlight. With all things Y2K making a comeback — jelly sandals, bootcut jeans and bubble skirts, to name a few — the silver renaissance is hardly surprising. 2025's silver jewellery is a far cry from the cheap, easily tarnished pieces of our youth. Gone are the mood rings that turn your fingers green, the rhinestone-encrusted pendants, and the bend-at-first-wear hoop earrings. Whatever your jewellery vibe — fine and dainty or bold and chunky, boho glam or gunmetal grunge — the brands ahead are creating pieces that will last. Click through to meet the top labels on our list serving up the best silver jewellery on the market. Pupari Brighton-based brand Pupari is our go-to for unique, whimsical jewellery. From joyful animal motifs to tongue-in-cheek anatomical designs, you can be sure that your piece will be one of a kind — not least because every item is handmade to order in 100% recycled sterling silver. Monica Vinader Shop This Monica Vinader really brings together the very best of the jewellery world: a commitment to ethical sourcing and sustainability, quality materials in the form of recycled sterling silver and gold vermeil, and beautiful contemporary designs. Highlights include the hammered Siren collection, the brand's use of gemstones, and pendant necklaces. Daisy London Whatever you're after, you'll probably find it at Daisy London. This UK-based brand's silver collection is extensive, spanning all your jewellery basics and including every key trend you can think of — from moon, star and astrology iconography to Grecian-inspired sculpture, and delicate shell motifs to gemstone pieces, just to name a few. Catbird Shop This NYC-based Catbird has become the fashion set's go-to destination for fine, dainty jewellery. On the silver front, think barely-there chains, teeny-tiny pendants, ultra-thin stacking rings and delicate, engravable lockets and charms. Catbird also has its fingers firmly on the pulse, collaborating with musicians and actors like Phoebe Bridgers, Laufey and Jenny Slate, and trending TV shows like The Summer I Turned Pretty (as fans would know, it's here that Jeremy brought Belly the infamous engagement ring — the Diamond Fizz Sparkler). PDPAOLA Barcelona-based brand PDPAOLA was founded in 2015 by siblings Paola and Humbert Sasplugas with the intention of designing jewellery that transcends fleeting trends. The designers are inspired by everything from space to the natural world, creating pieces that are all about the small details. That stretches from the bold and statement-making to the delicate and dainty — from minimal, modern shapes and chunky sculptural silhouettes, to cascading, constellation-like diamonds and playful charm pendants (tiny rocketship necklace, anyone?). Mejuri Mejuri is known and loved for its gold jewellery, but its silver designs are equally desirable. From classic silver earrings and rings to the brand's iconic croissant designs, shop here if you're looking to build up your silver collection with timeless, elegant pieces that can be worn every day. Edge of Ember From initial pendants to personalised birthstone necklaces, Edge of Ember has all your loved ones' gifts covered. Even better, their prices start at £30. Astrid & Miyu Most of Astrid & Miyu's offerings are rhodium-plated metals (brass or sterling silver), but you can't beat the brand's affordability. Many pieces come in under £100, and the brand is our go-to for building a budget-friendly earring stack. Alighieri Shop This Alighieri's pieces aren't just jewellery, they're wearable works of art. Molten, organic-shaped rings, pendants and bangles riff off the movement of water and fire, and are inspired by Greek mythology and human anatomy. Ray Jewels Shop This Ray Jewels Ali Star Ring BUY £145.00 Ray Jewels We fell for Ray Jewels after this video popped up on our For You Page, showing founder Sasha crafting the stunning Ali Star Ring. Otiumberg Otiumberg is a family business with a strong focus on responsibility within the jewellery industry and doing away with fast fashion trends. It's also a great brand to bookmark for beautifully made silver chains (from fine to chunkier, open-link designs), all your pendant needs, and for cool, sculptural pieces you won't find anywhere else. Bar Jewellery Shop This Bar Jewellery Dune Bracelet BUY £198.00 Bar Jewellery Bar Jewellery's designs are always unique, like pieces of modern art in their own right that strike the balance between innovation and wearability.
