The Death Of Tristan Rogers; Soap World Pays Tribute To Longtime ‘General Hospital' Actor

The soap world is remembering Tristan Rogers, the popular Aussie actor who played Robert Scorpio on General Hospital. Rogers, who died Aug. 15 of cancer at the age of 79, was remembered as a self-deprecating, handsome and 'spectacular' friend who starred on the ABC drama for more than 40 years. More from Deadline Tristan Rogers Dies: 'General Hospital' Star Was 79 'General Hospital' Star Tristan Rogers Diagnosed With Cancer; 'He Remains Hopeful,' Says Rep 'General Hospital' Bids Farewell To Sofia Mattsson After 7 Years Actress Emma Samms, who played Rogers' on-screen love interest Holly, wrote on social media that she was 'incredibly sad to hear the news about Tristan. I loved working with him and we were both so grateful that we got the chance to do that for more than 40 years. He taught me how to be comfortable in front of the cameras and he introduced me to spontaneity and fun even within all the trials and tribulations that Robert and Holly endured.' Robert and Holly were one of daytime's supercouples. Other past and present GH stars like Rick Springfield remembered Rogers as 'witty bloke from the Great Southern Land' while Genie Francis called him a 'very bright light.' Earlier on Friday, GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini released this statement: 'The entire General Hospital family is heartbroken to hear of Tristan Rogers' passing. Tristan has captivated our fans for 45 years and Port Charles will not be the same without him (or Robert Scorpio). I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to his family and friends during this difficult time. Tristan was a one-of-a-kind talent and will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.' Rogers played Scorpio on and off since 1980. He last appeared on GH on Nov. 12, when his character left Port Charles. He won a Daytime Emmy for his work in the digital drama Studio City. Quentin Tarantino on Why He Isn't Making The Movie Critic & if Cliff Booth Was in the Script

is opening up about why he isn't making The Movie Critic. Tarantino was originally planning to make The Movie Critic as his tenth and final film; however, in April 2024, it was reported that Tarantino had changed his mind and abandoned the project. Details as to why he decided not to make The Movie Critic weren't revealed at the time. What did Quentin Tarantino say about The Movie Critic? Appearing on an episode of The Church of Tarantino podcast, the Pulp Fiction director said he originally wrote The Movie Critic to be an eight-episode television show. 'I think when I was done [writing the show], and I knew I had done it, and now I was faced with the hard work in front of me of setting it up and doing it, I didn't really want to do it that much,' Tarantino said. 'That's too strong a word to say. But it was more like, if I like this so much, could it be a movie? Is it really a movie? And that was just enough of a question that it made me want to investigate.' Tarantino said he then rewrote The Movie Critic to be a movie script and that he was 'happy' with it. He clarified that while The Movie Critic could have been a 'spiritual sequel' to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, there were never any crossover characters and Brad Pitt's Cliff Booth character never showed up. 'That was never the case, ever ever ever,' he said of Cliff Booth being in the movie. 'But it is the same town except in 1977 as opposed to 1969. And, frankly, to tell you the truth, it was pre-production that made me realize that I was so excited about the writing, but I wasn't really that excited about dramatizing what I wrote.' Tarantino continued to explain that, when approaching his movies, there's typically a lot of learning involved when it comes to crafting certain sequences — be it turning Los Angeles into 1969 Hollywood without any special effects, burning down the theater in Inglorious Basterds, the Kill Bill Crazy 88 sequence, etc. 'There was nothing to figure out [with The Movie Critic] because I already kind of knew more or less how to turn LA into an older time,' he summarized. 'So it just was too much like the last one.' Taylor Swift looking at Las Vegas venues amid 'The Life of a Showgirl' announcement

Taylor Swift looking at Las Vegas venues amid 'The Life of a Showgirl' announcement originally appeared on The Sporting News Taylor Swift is reportedly looking at Las Vegas venues to showcase her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl. According to The US Sun, "Taylor's team has been talking about Vegas gigs in private for a while, including at a dinner a few months back in Nashville with other music managers," an insider told the publication. "They are seeing what would work for the new album and have specifically been eyeing up concerts at Sphere," the insider added." "Nothing is confirmed yet, but they are discussing logistics and which venue could work best," the source concluded. Swift announced her 12th studio album on her boyfriend Travis Kelce's podcast New Heights, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce. Due to The Sphere's location in Vegas, which matches the album's theme and unique visual assets -- it features the largest LED screen ever constructed -- the venue would be perfect for an artist of Swift's caliber. "Given how unique Sphere is from a production perspective, fans will no doubt be foaming at the mouth to see how Taylor could potentially use the venue," the insider added. The venue is massive with 20,000 seats, but it is much smaller than the arenas Swift performed in during her Eras Tour, with stadium seating was around 70,000 to 80,000. She would, however, have no problem selling it out as the Eras Tour, which ran from March 2023 to December 2024, sold over 10 million tickets. "There's nothing like it in the world," the insider said of The Sphere. "U2 and the Backstreet Boys have already shown what's possible, but Taylor would take things to the next level." During her interview on New Heights, she told Travis and Jason that after performing in over 100 shows, she misses it but that "it feels great" that it's over. "I miss it. I do miss it, but it's like it was perfect for what it was. Do you know what I mean? And it was a lot of physical therapy, and it was a lot of being in a state of perpetual physical discomfort — kind of like when you're in season," Swift told the Kelce brothers. The insider shared that, "generally speaking, a mini Vegas run wouldn't be bad for her. Touring is exhausting, and staying in one place for a bit would be a lot easier." The Life of a Showgirl is out on Oct. 3. There is no news of a tour or residency at this time.
