Jaipur: In a bizarre tale of greed, black magic, and betrayal, the police investigation into triple homicide in Bikaner's Khajuwala that occured on June 13 has uncovered a chilling twist — one that has turned the spotlight from an alleged conman to the victims' own family members.
Ghaffar Khan, who had a huge debt, turned to an occult practitioner named M Shiva. Promising supernatural gains, Shiva claimed he could multiply Rs 50 lakh using black magic. Trusting the occultist, Ghaffar along with Shaitan Singh and Vikram Singh — who were known to Ghaffar, and some others, including one Ramswaroop — took part in the ritual at Ghaffar's home in Khajuwala.
But the ceremony turned deadly. After consuming a poisoned offering given by Shiva, the three collapsed — Ghaffar, Vikram Singh and Shaitan Singh died, and two more were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Initially, police believed that Shiva, a self-proclaimed occultist from Karnataka, had murdered the trio and fled with the cash. But what emerged during the investigation left even the police stunned.
As it turned out, not everyone who attended the ritual had passed out. Ghaffar's son Salman, who ate very little of the offering, remained conscious.
He immediately called his mother to report what had happened. Shortly after, several family members arrived at the scene — Ghaffar's wife, daughter, son-in-law Mustaq Khan, brother-in-law, and two nephews.
Shiva was still there when the relatives gathered. But instead of helping the dying men, the relatives allegedly saw an opportunity.
According to police, in a moment of collective greed, the family members stole Rs 50 lakh and then assaulted Shiva, forcing him to flee from the scene. They then created a cover story, claiming that Shiva had poisoned the victims and escaped with Rs 50 lakh.
The truth began to unravel when police questioned the two surviving participants of the ritual, who are recovering in the hospital.
"During questioning, they revealed that Shiva didn't flee on his own. He was made to flee by family members, who then framed him for the crime," a police officer said.
Further investigation revealed that before hiding the money, Ghaffar's son-in-law Mustaq Khan secretly took Rs 10 lakh. The remaining Rs 40 lakh was later recovered from Ghaffar's car. The missing Rs 10 lakh was found during a raid on Mustaq's house Tuesday.
Mustaq, Yunus, Ghaffar's nephew, and Ramswaroop have been arrested. The rest of the relatives, including Ghaffar's wife and son, are under investigation for destruction of evidence and misappropriation of cash. Ramswaroop's wife is a station house officer (SHO) currently posted in Nagaur district.

Around 20 to 25 men claiming to be part of a cow protection group stopped their vehicle between Sanchi and Raisen and allegedly assaulted them, the families of the two men claimed. 'He was transporting the cows for dairy,' the newspaper quoted Mohammad Maj Qureshi, a family member, as having claimed. 'The men stopped them in Megaon and beat them through the night.' Qureshi and Armaan were taken to Bhopal's Hamidia Hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit, according to NDTV. Qureshi died on Tuesday morning, while Armaan remained critical. Videos of the incident were widely circulated on social media, NDTV reported. Following the incident, a first information report was filed on several charges, including attempt to murder and rioting with deadly weapons. Nitin Ahirwar, the official in charge of the Sanchi Police Station, told the channel that three or four of the persons accused in the matter had been arrested. He said that more than 10 others were absconding and a search was on for them in Vidisha and the surrounding areas. A separate FIR was also filed against Qureshi based on a complaint by a Raisen-based bike workshop owner under sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and the Madhya Pradesh Prohibition of Slaughter of Cows Act, according to The Indian Express. The complainant claimed that he, along with three others, intercepted Qureshi's vehicle based on a tip-off about cattle smuggling from the Rahatgarh area. The group found the cattle 'cruelly crammed' into the vehicle and bound for slaughterhouses in Bhopal, the complainant said, adding that when questioned, Qureshi and Armaan 'provided no satisfactory answers and attempted to escape from the vehicle'.

Man-son siphon off Rs 64 lakh from MP court's bank a/c; held from Gujarat

An FIR was recently registered against them for fraudulently withdrawing Rs 64.05 lakh from the bank account of an additional district judge court between March 5 and June 11, Indore's Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotia said on Tuesday. Sahil Rangrez (26) and his father Sajid Sattar (57) were arrested on Tuesday from Valsad in Gujarat based on the evidence found during investigation in the case, he said. Indore, Jun 18 (PTI) Police have arrested an IT expert and his father who allegedly siphoned off Rs 64 lakh from the bank account of an Indore district court and spent it on foreign trips and buying expensive mobile phones, an official said. The mobile number linked to the court's bank account had become inactive due to non-recharge, and the telecom company concerned allotted this number to Sajid after about two years, he said. 'After getting this mobile number, Sajid started getting SMSes about government transactions from the court's bank account. When he shared this with his IT expert son Sahil, he misused the mobile number and got the password to make online payments through the court's bank account. This way, he started withdrawing money from the court's bank account,' Dandotia said. 'During the initial investigation, we have come to know that the father-son duo spent the money obtained through this online fraud on buying expensive mobile phones and booking an expensive car as well as on foreign trips, health treatment and repair of an old flat,' he said. The police are investigating the matter in detail, the official added. PTI HWP MAS NP GK This report is auto-generated from PTI news service. ThePrint holds no responsibility for its content.

DGP urges people to be cautious about cyber crimes

Vijayawada: With the rapid expansion of internet usage in the digital era, cyber crimes are also increasing at an alarming rate, said DGP Harish Kumar Gupta. He said that cyber attacks on personal information, banking details, and social media accounts have become very common these days and emphasised that every individual should be aware of cyber crimes. Gupta said cyber crimes can be curbed when every individual becomes aware of cyber safety, refrains from clicking on suspicious links, avoids responding to unknown calls, and never shares banking or personal details. In a press release on Tuesday, the DGP said in recent times social media accounts are frequently receiving APK (Android Package) files from unknown mobile numbers and groups — examples include: PM KISAN YOJANA No ICICI Bank Credit Card SBI Some of these APK files contain malware, spyware, or Trojan codes. When users unknowingly click on these APK files, personal information such as bank account details, passwords, contacts, messages, gallery files, etc., gets stolen from their phones and falls into the hands of hackers, the DGP warned. He said these cyber criminals not only empty the victim's bank accounts with a single click but also resort to blackmail using the stolen personal data. Some malicious apps are even capable of stealing OTPs received via SMS. The DGP narrated a recent incident in which the cyber criminals stole Rs 94,000 from SBI customers. He said recently a farmer from Kanaganapalli area in Sri Sathya Sai district received a fake APK file on WhatsApp with name of PM Kisan Yojana. Assuming it was an official app, the farmer downloaded it, which led to cyber criminals stealing Rs 94,000 from his SBI bank account. He suggested that the people to install proven antivirus/mobile security applications such as Avast, Norton, Bitdefender, etc., He said people should be cautious while using banking apps, and only conduct transactions through official banking applications.
