CBUAE and Presight Launch Joint Venture to Boost AI Integration in Financial Infrastructure

The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE) and Presight, an AI and big data analytics company, have announced the establishment of a joint venture to support the CBUAE's Financial Infrastructure Transformation (FIT) Programme.
The initiative represents a key development in the UAE's efforts to strengthen the resilience of its financial systems and integrate artificial intelligence across its financial ecosystem.
The joint venture will deliver sovereign, AI-based technology platforms and services designed to support and improve the UAE's financial market infrastructure.
It will contribute to the development, upkeep, and technical support of key financial systems such as the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) infrastructure, Instant Payments Platform (Aani), Domestic Card Scheme (Jaywan), National Card Switch, Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system, and Open Finance platform (Nebras).
Ebrahim Obaid Al Zaabi, Assistant Governor for Monetary Policy and Financial Stability at CBUAE, stated,
'By leveraging the leading role of the CBUAE's Financial Infrastructure Transformation Programme and the technological expertise of Presight, this venture will strengthen the financial ecosystem of the UAE and the national economic stability, thereby enhancing the country's position as a global financial hub.'
Thomas Pramotedham, CEO of Presight, commented,
'By focusing exclusively on AI driven financial solutions, we are creating a sovereign finance technology powerhouse that will redefine how financial markets operate, faster, with applied intelligence, and more securely than ever before.'

The UAE's Central Bank on Wednesday said it imposed a fine of AED 600,000 on a finance company for reportedly failing to comply with market and consumer protection standards. In a statement, the authority said the action was taken after CBUAE inspections revealed that the finance company had failed to comply with the "Market Conduct and Consumer Protection Regulations and Standards". The authority did not reveal the name of the company. Earlier this week, the Central Bank had imposed a AED10.7 million fine on an exchange house for violations of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regulations. It also shut down three exchange houses for similar violations in July, as the country cracks down on non-compliance with regulations. UAE Central Bank imposes Dhs600,000 financial sanction on a company

The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) imposed a financial sanction of amount Dhs600,000 on a finance company, pursuant to Article (137) of the Decretal Federal Law No. (14) of 2018 regarding the Central Bank and Organisation of Financial Institutions and Activities, and its amendments. The financial sanction is based on the results of the findings of examinations conducted by the CBUAE, which revealed that the finance company had failed to comply with the Market Conduct and Consumer Protection Regulations and Standards. The CBUAE, through its supervisory and regulatory mandates, endeavours to ensure that all finance companies and its staff abide by the UAE laws, regulations and standards established by the CBUAE to maintain transparency and integrity of the finance companies industry and safeguard the UAE financial ecosystem. United Arab Bank successfully raises $280.7mln through Rights Issue

United Arab Bank (UAB), listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) announced the successful completion of its capital increase, which ended on July 29, 2025. The Rights Issue raised AED1,031 billion increasing the Bank's issued capital from AED2,062 billion to AED3,093 billion. The newly issued shares were priced at AED 1 per share. All necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained for this transaction. The Rights Issue was oversubscribed, underscoring UAB's robust fundamentals and strong performance as a result of the diligent execution of its turnaround strategy. United Arab Bank intends to use the net proceeds raised from the Rights Issue to strengthen its capital base and to support future growth of the business of the Bank. Commenting on the Rights Issue success, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Faisal bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of United Arab Bank, said, 'We are deeply grateful for the trust and support of our shareholders in this Rights Issue. The strong response we have received will further strengthen our balance sheet, mark a new chapter in UAB's progress, and reaffirm our commitment to delivering value to our shareholders. In addition, it will enhance our financial resilience, and position us to continue contributing to the UAE economy and its sustainable development agenda.' He added, 'We also extend our sincere appreciation to the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE), the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA), the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) and all our transaction partners whose support and collaboration were instrumental in ensuring the success of this Rights Issue.' Commenting on the announcement, Shirish Bhide, CEO of United Arab Bank, said, 'The success of the Rights Issue reflects the confidence that our shareholders have in the Bank and our future endeavours. This step represents an important milestone in strengthening UAB's capital position and reinforces our long-term commitment to sustainable growth. The additional capital will support the next phase of our strategy, ensuring we are well-positioned to meet evolving regulatory requirements, support our clients' needs, and deliver sustainable returns to our shareholders.' UAB posted a net profit of AED208 million for the first half of 2025, compared to AED139 million for the same period last year, representing a 50% year-on-year increase. Total income rose by 24% year-on-year to AED374 million.
