Francesco Farioli 'wants' English job and linked to Serie A
The Herald last night broke the news that Gers chiefs had spoken to the Italian coach, 36, as his name was entered into the conversation along with Russell Martin and Davide Ancelotti.
That came after former boss Steven Gerrard ended the possibility of a return at this stage, taking the decision to spend more time with family.
Rangers previously spoke to Farioli when they were looking for a replacement for Giovanni van Bronckhorst, in the end going for Michael Beale.
But they sounded him out again last week and discussions have been held.

Why Francesco Farioli left Ajax this month amid Rangers talks
According to reports in Italy though, the former Ajax boss could be a possibility for Fiorentina. He was recently spotted in the city, hailing from nearby Lucca.
TuttoMercatoWeb are also claiming the 36-year-old would also prefer a move to the English Premier League over coming to Scotland.
Despite hopes for a conclusion to the Rangers managerial saga this week, it now looks like it will drag on into next week.

Jannik Sinner makes light work of Jiri Lehecka at French Open
The world number one, who only returned from a three-month doping ban three weeks ago, raced into the fourth round in just 94 minutes. Sinner won the first 11 games against Czech Jiri Lehecka on his way to a commanding 6-0 6-1 6-2 victory. 'This morning I said to my team I'm feeling well and physically ready,' said the Italian. 'We had to go hard in the beginning because the beginning in grand slams is very important for confidence. I warmed up well, I felt very good so after 20-25 minutes I was feeling brave. 'My team gave me the right tactics, I tried to play them in the match so it's a combination of also being happy on court – it's very important. 'After today I don't think there's much I can improve but every opponent is different.' Sinner will meet Russian 17th seed Andrey Rublev on Monday. Meanwhile, Frenchman Arthur Fils has revealed he won a five-set match on Thursday despite having a stress fracture in his back. The 20-year-old 14th seed, who beat Jaume Munar in a marathon match lasting four and a half hours, has been forced to withdraw from the tournament. He said: 'I had some issue with the back for a long time, and during the match against Munar it got worse. 'Then I did some examinations. They were not good at all. I've got some stress fracture.' Fils was unsure whether he will be fit enough in time to compete at Wimbledon.

Liverpool assistant departs the club after their Premier League triumph to become head coach of Dutch giants Ajax
A Liverpool coach has departed the club after accepting the vacant head coach position at Dutch side Ajax. In his first season on Merseyside Arne Slot led the Reds to their first Premier League title since 2020. In doing so the club have now drawn level with bitter rivals Manchester United for the most successful English team in league history, with both sides having lifted the title 20 times. Slot has wasted little time looking towards the defence of Liverpool's title, with the club now frontrunners to sign Florian Wirtz this summer and with Jeremie Frimpong arriving from Leverkusen. However, one Dutchman who will have no involvement for the Reds in 2025-26 is former assistant boss John Heitinga after he agreed to become manager of Ajax. The former Everton defender arrived at Anfield last summer and has served as Slot's No 2 throughout their Premier League-winning campaign. However, the 41-year-old will now return to Amsterdam for the fourth time, having enjoyed two spells at the club as a player and a brief stint in charge of the senior side in 2023. Heitinga has agreed a two-year contract and replaces Francesco Farioli, who departed the club after a single season in charge. The former defender will be joined in the dugout by fellow Ajax academy graduate Marcel Keizer. 'John is a good coach with enormous drive,' said Ajax technical director Alex Kroes. 'He is ambitious and has further developed himself over the past few years in the Premier League and Champions League. 'John knows the club well and we are convinced that he, together with Marcel, will help improve our players and build on the progress made since last summer.' The most successful club in the history of Dutch football, Ajax have not won an Eredivisie title since Erik ten Hag led the club to victory in 2022.

Rangers to officially change name after takeover by US consortium completed
After the club were taken over by a US led consortium, Rangers are set to undergo a name-change, in a move which is provoking a lot of curiosity The parent company of Rangers FC is looking to rebrand following their acquisition of the club. The takeover of the Scottish giants by the US led consortium was officially completed on May 30. The takeover group, that is led by healthcare tycoon Andrew Cavenagh, purchased a 51 per cent controlling stake at the Glasgow giants, after the Scottish FA approved the move. The new owners are overseeing a transition from a public to a private company, pending shareholder approval later this month. Since November 2012, the Ibrox team has been known as 'The Rangers International Football Club PLC', but will now trade under the name 'Rangers International Football Club Limited'. This change ushers in a new era under chairman Cavenagh and 49ers enterprises, led by vice-chairman Paraag Marathe. The proposed shift will be put to a vote at the club's forthcoming Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), set for June 23 at Glasgow's Doubletree Hilton. To pass, the name change requires a 75 per cent approval rate. Despite their PLC status, Rangers were not publicly listed on the stock exchange. The transition to an LTD ensures shares cannot be offered to the public, providing an additional level of control for the new leadership, reports the Daily Record. The EGM will cover the move to the LTD company, informing shareholders about what they are voting on. Friday's big announcement covered the ordinary resolutions. This includes the allotment of nominal shares, a price that has been set in recent years for directors investing in Ibrox. The club is entering a new era with nine appointments to the revamped board, spearheaded by Cavenagh and Marathe. Patrick Stewart, Eugene Schneur, Andrew Clayton, Mark Taber, Fraser Thornton, John Halsted and George Taylor are the other seven who will play pivotal roles. In an open letter to the Rangers supporters, Cavenagh and Marathe said: "We are proud to be entering a new chapter for this extraordinary club. This moment is the result of months of thoughtful discussions with club leadership and our shared confidence in Rangers' success going forward. "To that end we'd like to tell you a bit about our thinking. Simply put - our goal is to win trophies in Scotland and be able to compete at a high level in Europe, while laying a foundation of financial sustainability for the future. "As our first step, we are investing fresh capital into Rangers, which will be strategically deployed on and off the pitch. While we recognise the importance of resources, we believe that thoughtful, disciplined investment, guided by a clear strategy, is the path to enduring success. "Every decision, whether sporting or business, will be made with the club's long-term success and sustainability in mind."
