2025 UFL MVP Power Rankings: Jacob Saylors, Luis Perez headline list after Week 2
One week after shredding the Houston Roughnecks for 145 yards on 20 total touches, Saylors was at it again in Week 2, tying the UFL single-game rushing record with three touchdowns against the Brahmas.

5. Memphis Showboats WR Jonathan Adams
Week 2 stat line: Nine catches, 128 receiving yardsWeek 2 result: 17-12 loss at D.C.
Through the first two weeks of the season, Adams has amassed nearly 100 more receiving yards (221) than the next closest wide receiver in the UFL. Though the Showboats are winless, it's clear that Adams is establishing himself as one of the premier offensive players in the league. The future success of the Showboats might very well depend on how many catches he can snag each week.
4. D.C. Defenders QB Jordan Ta'amu
Week 2 stat line: 12 of 16 passing for 152 passing yards, one passing TDWeek 2 result: 17-12 win against Memphis
Ta'amu has completed less than 50% of his passes but still ranks second in the league in passing yards (363) and is tied for No. 1 in passing TDs. More importantly, the Defenders are 2-0 with wins against USFL Conference opponents Birmingham and Memphis.
3. St. Louis Battlehawks QB Manny Wilkins
Week 2 stat line: 12 of 16 passing for 162 yards, nine rushes for 58 yardsWeek 2 result: 26-9 win against San Antonio
The former Arizona State product has proven to be quite efficient in the pocket. Wilkins has completed more than 76% of his passes for 351 yards — third-best in the UFL — and is the only QB with more than 35 pass attempts who has yet to throw an interception.After sitting behind former Alabama QB AJ McCarron last season, Wilkins has taken ownership of the starting job in St. Louis with no signs of relinquishing the job, even with former TCU QB and 2022 national title runner-up Max Duggan in the same QB room.
2. Arlington Renegades QB Luis PerezWeek 2 stat line: 19 of 27 passing for 211 yards with a TDWeek 2 result: 11-9 win vs. Houston
Perez threw for 211 yards in the Renegades' win over the Roughnecks, surpassing his 164 yards from a week ago. He posted a 70% completion rate as he connected on 19 of 27 passes. With that solid performance, Perez has taken over the league-lead in passing yards, completions and completion percentage for a Renegades team that is off to its best start in three years. Perez and the Renegades will see a stern test on Friday when they play the defending UFL champion Birmingham Stallions.
1. St. Louis Battlehawks RB Jacob Saylors
Week 2 stat line: 14 touches for 71 yards with three rushing TDsWeek 2 result: 26-9 win against San Antonio
Saylors tied the UFL single-game record for rushing touchdowns with three against the Brahmas on just 11 rushes. Though he accounted for just 46 yards, one of those plays was an explosive one — a 20-yard scamper into the end zone. Saylors has scored four rushing touchdowns in just two games, accounted for 216 yards from scrimmage, and averages 6.4 yards per touch on a Battlehawks team that is built to run the football. After Week 2, Saylors looks like the best offensive player on the best team in the league.

Royals' Salvador Perez out with illness in series opener against Rangers
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals scratched catcher Salvador Perez from the starting lineup of their series opener against the Texas Rangers on Monday night because of an illness. Perez was supposed to catch for starter Michael Wacha and bat fifth in the opener of an important four-game set between teams clinging to wild-card hope. Luke Maile will be behind the plate instead and bat eight in the lineup. Perez, a nine-time All-Star, is hitting .244 with 22 homers and 70 RBIs this season. Maile has become the primary backup in Kansas City after it sent Freddy Fermin to the Padres ahead of last month's nonwaiver trade deadline. But he has only appeared in 11 games this season, hitting .250 with a homer and two RBIs. ___

Panthers HC Dave Canales speaks on his team's new addition at QB
There's a new Bryce in town for the Carolina Panthers. Monday marked the first practice in Charlotte for quarterback Bryce Perkins, whom the Panthers officially signed this morning. Head coach Dave Canales was asked about his early impressions of his newest passer following the session. "Accurate," Canales replied. "He came in today, really excited to get him in here. The UFL MVP. He's earned this opportunity. And just going into the [Pittsburgh] Steelers game—if Andy [Dalton] can't turn it around and get the soreness out and we don't have to play him, then Jack [Plummer] and Bryce can play that game for us." That game, Thursday's preseason finale against Pittsburgh, won't see starting quarterback Bryce Young. The Panthers may also hold out their second-stringer in Dalton, who sustained a mild muscle strain during Saturday's outing in Houston. Those absences could set the stage for Perkins, the United Football League's reigning Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year. The 28-year-old, who was also a member of the Los Angeles Rams between 2020 and 2022, totaled 1,611 yards and 14 touchdowns over seven contests for the Michigan Panthers this past spring. Canales continued. "It's great to be able to just reward somebody who's gone to another league, played so well, but also spent three years with the Rams," he added. "So, there is some carryover. Some of the words are familiar to him, but it's kinda a marriage of two different systems. But football's football—and he's played a lot of it, he's played significant snaps. Cowboys to sign former Broncos' third runder, UFL champion to help injury-riddled position
NFL Networks Tom Pelissero broke the news that DC Defender and 2025 UFL Champion Michael Ojemudia intends to sign with Dallas to help with depth as the team maneuvers through a slew of injuries at the cornerback position. The veteran cornerback was selected in third-round of the 2020 NFL draft by the Denver Broncos, and spent time with Cowboys defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus while the pair were in Chicago in 2022. The former Hawkeye played in all 16 games as a rookie and started 11 games for Denver. Injuries would limit him to just 10 regular season appearances form 2021 -2022 which led him to find refuge in the spring league. Ojemudia played in nine games for the Defenders finishing with 20 total tackles, four pass break-ups and had one interception. Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs missed the final six games of the 2024 season with a knee injury, and has yet to practice with the team this offseason. Third-round pick Shavon Revel Jr. has also yet to make his debut as he recovers from a torn ACL suffered in college. CB's Josh Butler and Caelon Carson are also dealing with injuries that may threaten their start of the upcoming season.
