As it continues to work on its advancing AR projects, including AR-enabled Spectacles, Snapchat has launched a new standalone Lens Studio mobile app, which aims to make it easier for people to build their own AR experiences.
As you can see in these images, Snap's Lens Studio app aims to provide a simplified effects creation flow, including templates and tools that will enable more people, even those without developer experience, to build custom in-app experiences.
As explained by Snap:
'We're excited to introduce the Lens Studio iOS app and web tool. These are experimental new tools that make it easier than ever to create, publish, and play with Snapchat Lenses made by you. Now, you can generate your own AI effects, add your dancing Bitmoji to the fun, and express yourself with Lenses that reflect your mood or an inside joke–whether you're on the go or near your computer.'
So it's less about professional AR creation, and more about democratizing the AR creation experience.
Indeed, the App Store description outlines exactly that:
'Make your own Snapchat Lenses from your phone and in minutes. No code. No installs. Create AI effects, add your Bitmoji, design natural makeup looks, and more. Create something real and immediately share with your friends.'
It's another step towards enabling broader creative expression with advanced digital tools, which has also been accelerated by generative AI apps and functions that can generate code for you based on plain language text prompts.
Meta's even using conversational AI prompts to generate VR worlds, and with the complexity gap closing, you can see how this will help to usher in an era of expanded digital creativity, in all new ways.
Snap has seen big success with user-generated Lenses, with these outside contributions often leading to new engagement trends in the app. Rather than limiting its creative output to its own internal team, enabling anyone to create their own AR experience has expanded its opportunity, and more than 400,000 professional developers and teams now use Lens Studio for their creative visions.
And now, Snap's setting its sights on non-technical folk as well, opening up even more opportunity for original AR experiences.
It could be a fun add-on, which helps to drive more engagement, and generates more engagement in the main Snapchat app.
You can download the Lens Studio mobile app in the App Store.

Millions of iPhone users issued warning about downloading from App Store
Anyone with a phone has been urged to do two security checks before installing an app. Millions of iPhone users and Android users with Apps downloaded from the App Store or Google Store have been urged to ensure they are making security checks. Lee Elliott, chief product officer at Compare and Recycle, said: "Before installing an app from the App Store or Google Play, always ensure it is a verified app and pay attention to its reviews." Users should ensure apps are updated regularly and remember to install any security patches when prompted, too, Lee said. Mr Elliott said: "If you suspect your device has been infected, the first port of call is to turn off your mobile data or Wi-Fi, and uninstall any suspicious apps you can identify. "You could also perform a factory reset. "On Android phones you can run a built-in scan to search for malware and resolve the issue, but due to the OS architecture out of the box, iPhones are well protected and are not generally susceptible to security breaches. "If you're experiencing any strange pop-ups as an Apple user try clearing your browsing history and cache first, and it'll likely solve the problem." He said: "While staying aware of your surroundings is the least you can do to stop your phone being snatched in the first place, there are simple steps you can take to protect yourself and prevent the worst from happening. "This prevents thieves from quickly switching off Wi-Fi or turning on Airplane Mode if they grab your phone while it's locked, helping you retain the ability to track the device via Find My iPhone and making them more likely to let go of the device. "Simply navigate to 'Face ID & Passcode' in settings and toggle off the option for accessing your control centre when the phone is locked."

Snap & Grab is No Goblin's campy, photography-based heist game
Photography games can be hyper-realistic simulations of the real thing or a vehicle for ogling cute creatures, but No Goblin's Snap & Grab is forging a different path by treating photography as a key ingredient in a good heist. The upcoming game as part of the Day of the Devs showcase at Summer Game Fest 2025, ahead of its launch in 2026. Based on the trailer, Snap & Grab can be broken into two distinct parts. There's the snapping, where you'll play as a professional photographer grooving through (high-fashion) high society, taking pictures of things you want to steal. And the grabbing, where you'll lay out those photos in a workflow of sorts for your team of thieves to follow during a heist. Some of the things you'll photograph might be obstacles or parts of the environment you can manipulate in your favor and it looks like more than a few could just be cute pictures of dogs. To view this content, you'll need to update your privacy settings. Please click here and view the "Content and social-media partners" setting to do so. Like No Goblin's other games, 100ft Robot Golf and Roundabout , over-the-top, silly theming is the name of the game. In the case of Snap & Grab , that's a sort of cartoon-y 80's aesthetic — think Miami Vice by way of Johnny Bravo and you'll be in the ballpark of the hair and shoulder pads No Goblin is playing with. Luckily, you won't have to wait long to see the game for yourself. No Goblin says Snap & Grab is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X / S in 2026.

The Trump-Musk feud has been great for X, which jumped up the App Store charts
The feud between Elon Musk and President Donald Trump may be bad for the MAGA camp, but it's proven to be beneficial for X, which has seen engagement soaring over the past 24 hours. According to new data from Sensor Tower, the app formerly known as Twitter skyrocketed up the U.S. App Store's top charts, landing at the 23rd overall spot on June 5 — up from an average rank of No. 68 over the last 30 days. X also saw an average rank of No. 58 over the past six months. The ranking changes could be influenced by increased downloads and engagements with the X application. Meanwhile, X's ranking on Google Play in the U.S. climbed as well, up around 20 spots from the prior seven-day average and up 16 spots from the average over the past 30 days. Sensor Tower estimates that total U.S. mobile app active users on X on June 5 increased by 6%, likely as a result of the Trump-Musk breakup, which captured the internet's interest. Specifically, the firm found that U.S. mobile app active users on X between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Eastern time on June 5 were up by 54% compared to the last seven days. Trump's own social network, Truth Social, benefited from the feud as well, as the president shared his thoughts about Musk with his followers. Compared with the last seven days, U.S. mobile app active users on Truth Social increased by more than 400%, Sensor Tower's proprietary panel indicates. However, X is still much larger than Truth Social, Sensor Tower notes, as it has 100x more U.S. mobile app users than Trump's social network. Across both apps, the number of U.S. mobile app active users between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Eastern reached a 90-day high. X is continuing to grow its rank in the wake of the Trump-Musk breakup. As of the time of writing, the app is the 19th top free iPhone app on the U.S. App Store. Truth Social is No. 14 in the Social Networking category, but is ranked below No. 150 overall on the free iPhone apps chart on the U.S. App Store. Why are Elon Musk and Donald Trump fighting?
