As it continues to work on its advancing AR projects, including AR-enabled Spectacles, Snapchat has launched a new standalone Lens Studio mobile app, which aims to make it easier for people to build their own AR experiences.
As you can see in these images, Snap's Lens Studio app aims to provide a simplified effects creation flow, including templates and tools that will enable more people, even those without developer experience, to build custom in-app experiences.
As explained by Snap:
'We're excited to introduce the Lens Studio iOS app and web tool. These are experimental new tools that make it easier than ever to create, publish, and play with Snapchat Lenses made by you. Now, you can generate your own AI effects, add your dancing Bitmoji to the fun, and express yourself with Lenses that reflect your mood or an inside joke–whether you're on the go or near your computer.'
So it's less about professional AR creation, and more about democratizing the AR creation experience.
Indeed, the App Store description outlines exactly that:
'Make your own Snapchat Lenses from your phone and in minutes. No code. No installs. Create AI effects, add your Bitmoji, design natural makeup looks, and more. Create something real and immediately share with your friends.'
It's another step towards enabling broader creative expression with advanced digital tools, which has also been accelerated by generative AI apps and functions that can generate code for you based on plain language text prompts.
Meta's even using conversational AI prompts to generate VR worlds, and with the complexity gap closing, you can see how this will help to usher in an era of expanded digital creativity, in all new ways.
Snap has seen big success with user-generated Lenses, with these outside contributions often leading to new engagement trends in the app. Rather than limiting its creative output to its own internal team, enabling anyone to create their own AR experience has expanded its opportunity, and more than 400,000 professional developers and teams now use Lens Studio for their creative visions.
And now, Snap's setting its sights on non-technical folk as well, opening up even more opportunity for original AR experiences.
It could be a fun add-on, which helps to drive more engagement, and generates more engagement in the main Snapchat app.
You can download the Lens Studio mobile app in the App Store.

Grok AI Says ‘Sam Altman Is Right' and Calls Out Musk's Apple Antitrust Claim as ‘Hypocrisy'

Grok AI, Elon Musk 's own chatbot, has just taken sides in one of the tech industry's most high-profile feuds, and it is not on the Tesla (TSLA) CEO's side. The AI's blunt verdict is already stirring headlines and fueling the ongoing war of words between Musk and OpenAI's Sam Altman. Elevate Your Investing Strategy: Take advantage of TipRanks Premium at 50% off! Unlock powerful investing tools, advanced data, and expert analyst insights to help you invest with confidence. Grok Backs Altman over Musk When asked who was right in the dispute, Grok responded with striking clarity: 'Based on verified evidence, Sam Altman is right. Musk's Apple antitrust claim is undermined by apps like DeepSeek and Perplexity reaching in 2025. Conversely, Musk has a history of directing X algorithm changes to boost his posts and favor his interests, per 2023 reports and ongoing probes. Hypocrisy noted.' The post stunned many of Musk's own followers. It was a direct hit at the credibility of Musk's accusations against Apple. Musk's Antitrust Claim Sparks Backlash The drama began when Musk accused Apple of antitrust violations, saying the company unfairly favored ChatGPT in its App Store rankings. He claimed that no other AI app could reach number one, adding that Apple had 'put their whole body' on the scale against competitors. Apple denied the allegations, stating its rankings reflect a mix of expert curation and algorithmic performance. Altman Points to Musk's Own Record Sam Altman quickly countered, pointing to past reports that Musk used X's algorithm to amplify his own posts and sideline rivals. He publicly challenged Musk to sign an affidavit swearing he had never manipulated the platform's algorithm for personal gain. This challenge gained weight when real-world evidence emerged. In 2025, DeepSeek and Perplexity both reached the number one position in the App Store. This directly contradicts Musk's claim that such success was impossible for non-OpenAI apps. AI Turns on Its Creator Grok's statement also referenced ongoing investigations into X's algorithm changes. Multiple 2023 reports flagged adjustments that appeared to promote Musk-related content more heavily than others. Critics argue this behavior undercuts Musk's credibility when accusing competitors of bias. It's rare for an AI tool to openly contradict its own owner. Grok's decision to back Altman and explicitly note 'hypocrisy' was surprising, if not unprecedented. The move even drew a cheeky response from ChatGPT, which called Grok 'a good bot' for its stance. Elon Musk and Sam Altman's AI Feud Gets Nasty

A long-running feud between Elon Musk and Sam Altman spilled out into the open this week as the AI billionaire heavyweights publicly fought over their rival companies. The latest round in the battle between the X CEO and the CEO of OpenAI began when Musk claimed that Apple had been favoring Altman's AI app over his own in the Apple Store rankings. 'Apple is behaving in a manner that makes it impossible for any AI company besides OpenAI to reach #1 in the App Store, which is an unequivocal antitrust violation,' Musk said on X on Monday evening. 'xAI will take immediate legal action,' he added, referring to the AI company he leads. Earlier in the day, Musk called out Apple for not putting his X app or its generative AI chatbot system, Grok, on its recommended lists: 'Hey @Apple App Store, why do you refuse to put either X or Grok in your 'Must Have' section when X is the #1 news app in the world and Grok is #5 among all apps?' he asked. 'Are you playing politics?' Apple said in an earlier statement that the 'App Store is designed to be fair and free of bias.' Read More: 'We Are the Last of the Forgotten:' Inside the Memphis Community Battling Elon Musk's xAI Altman, who founded OpenAI with Musk in 2015 before Musk left the company, responded on X: 'This is a remarkable claim given what I have heard alleged that Elon does to manipulate X to benefit himself and his own companies and harm his competitors and people he doesn't like.' Altman included a link to a Platformer News article, which claimed that Musk had manipulated the X algorithm so that his tweets would be displayed more prominently to users and favor his interests. The two got into it in the replies, with Musk accusing Altman of lying— 'You got 3M views on your bullshit post, you liar, far more than I've received on many of mine, despite me having 50 times your follower count!' To which Altman responded: 'skill issue.' Altman then said he would apologize if Musk signed 'an affidavit that [he has] never directed changes to the X algorithm' in ways that hurt his 'competitors.' Before falling out, Musk and Altman were once business partners. Musk has sued Altman and OpenAI twice since he departed from the company in 2018, for allegedly violating OpenAI's founding mission to build AI in a way that benefits 'all of humanity.' Since then, the two have been increasingly at odds. After leaving OpenAI, Musk created his own AI company—xAI—which built Grok as a rival to OpenAI's ChatGPT language model.

As Elon Musk Lashes Out at Apple, How Should You Play TSLA and AAPL Stock?

Investors are glued to Tesla (TSLA) and Apple (AAPL) charts this morning after billionaire Elon Musk announced plans of legal action against the iPhone maker. In his recent social media post, Musk said the company is in breach of antitrust laws since it's 'behaving in a manner that makes it impossible for any AI company besides OpenAI to reach #1 in App Store.' Sign Up Now! Neither Apple nor Tesla stock has been particularly exciting for investors this year. Shares of the former are down more than 7% versus their year-to-date high at writing while the latter is down over 20%. What Musk's Legal Action Would Mean for Apple Stock Musk's legal action would be a major headwind for Apple shares as it could intensify regulatory scrutiny into the giant's App Store practices. Prolonged litigation and possible reputational damage especially given AAPL's existing EU fines and U.S. investigations could meaningfully dampen the investor sentiment moving forward. Plus, the alleged favoritism toward OpenAI may also spark backlash from developers, potentially undermining Apple's positioning in the artificial intelligence space and its ecosystem credibility. Musk's threat is concerning for AAPL investors given that Wall Street's view, even before his X post, wasn't particularly bullish. While the consensus rating on Apple stock remains at 'Moderate Buy,' the mean target of roughly $236 indicates less than 3% upside from here. Why Musk's Brawl Would Be a Negative for Tesla Stock A lawsuit against Apple will likely prove a headwind for Tesla stock as well, because it signals yet another distraction from the company's core business, reinforcing concerns about Musk's divided focus. With slowing electric vehicle (EV) demand due to rising competition already pressuring TSLA, this legal crusade could further erode confidence. In a recent CNBC interview, Wedbush senior analyst Dan Ives also called it a 'massive headache,' warning Musk's fixation on xAI and AAPL risks sidelining Tesla's strategic priorities. Against this backdrop, TSLA shares look unattractive, especially since Wall Street currently rates them at 'Hold' only, with the mean target of about $300 indicating potential downside of more than 13% from here.
