A formidable new radar satellite jointly developed by the United States and India launched Wednesday, designed to track subtle changes in Earth's land and ice surfaces and help predict both natural and human-caused hazards. Iranian telecommunications satellite Nahid-2 was carried into space on Friday aboard a Russian Soyuz launcher, Iranian media reported. The locally made satellite was successfully launched from a cosmodrome in Russia, the media said.
