Hojgaard and MacIntyre give Donald Ryder Cup positivity on both sides of the Atlantic

Rasmus Hojgaard delighted the home fans and boosted his Ryder Cup push by opening up a two-shot lead at the Danish Golf Championship.
Hojgaard added a seven-under-par 64 to his opening 66 at Fureso Golf Klub to take the lead at the halfway mark of his home tournament.
The 24-year-old Dane is currently eighth on Team Europe's Ryder Cup points list, just outside the automatic top-six spots, with Luke Donald making six captain picks after the Betfred British Masters on August 24.
"You feed off each other a little bit," Hojgaard, the 2023 champion was quoted as saying on the DP World Tour website about the Danish fans.
"I was obviously feeling good out there. Trying to make as many birdies as possible and with them cheering me on, I just wanted to keep it going for as long as possible.
"It died a little towards the end when I made that annoying bogey at eight, but it was a great atmosphere out there."
Hojgaard, who started at the 10th hole, began with six straight pars before backing up a birdie at the 16th with an eagle at the par-five 18th after hitting his approach shot to three feet.
A run of five birdies in the opening six holes on his back nine gave him breathing space at the top.
Hojgaard's solitary bogey at the eighth cost him the outright course record, instead matching Marco Penge's first-round score on Thursday.
"I didn't try to do too much out there," said Hojgaard. "I was just striking the ball well, had an idea of where it was going and set up a lot of chances."
Englishman Penge is two shots adrift on 10-under after a 68 consisting of six birdies and three bogeys, while Canadian Aaron Cockerill sits in third, three strokes further back.
Across the Atlantic there was further positive vibes for Donald as Robert MacIntyre continued his surge at the BMW Championship in Maryland. The Scot, who was a breakout performer on the 2023 European team in Rome, followed his superb opening 62 with a faultless six-under 64 to move a whopping seven clear of the field at the second event in the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
Out early for second-round duty, MacIntyre set a daunting task for the rest with Hideki Matsuyama closest in the clubhouse on seven-under. Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry were among the later starters with Lowry one-under for his round and the tournament at the turn but his compatriot two further back after an ugly double-bogey stalled his progress.

Arsenal new-boy reveals how to pronounce name properly… and you've been saying it all wrong for years

ARSENAL newbie Christian Norgaard has revealed how to pronounce his name properly… and you've been saying it wrong for years. Former Brentford star Norgaard penned a deal with the Gunners this summer after six years in west London. 1 The 31-year-old, who cost £10million, could make his debut in Sunday's Premier League opener against Manchester United. And he is sure to play an important role supporting the likes of big-money Arsenal midfielders like Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi. However, commentators will have to make sure they know how to say his name correctly. That's because it sounds nothing like the way it is written. Many believe Norgaard's name is pronounced just like that - 'Nor-gard'. However, the Dane himself has revealed that it sounds completely different when said correctly. Taking part in a Premier League video of various managers and players saying their names, Norgaard showed that it is pronounced in a wildly different manner. Taking to the screen, Norgaard read his own name out — with his surname sounding like 'Nar-goo'. BEST FREE BETS AND BETTING SIGN UP OFFERS Fans reacted with shock at the revelation. '£40?' We'll take that! Watch as Sky Presenter makes hilarious Rasmus Hoijlund transfer rumour gaff

The Premier League may be underway but the rumour mill is still churning as many sides look to improve their squad for the forthcoming season. Over the past decade transfer fees have inflated to a ludicrous level. It's even got people thinking that players are bargains when they're costing over €50million. Not so long ago prices like that would be breaking records but now it gets Arsenal a good squad player in Noni Madueke. Football fans have become oblivious to the actual value of football transfer so when it gets put into perspective it's quite jarring. It can also be quite hilarious like this viral TikTok that catches a Sky Sports presenter making a hilarious gaff when reporting Rasmus Hoijlund's potential departure from Old Trafford. Florian Wirtz is unveiled as a Liverpool player after his potentially €137.5million signing. Pic: Liverpool FC/Liverpool FC via Getty Images The Danish forward looks to be on the chopping block at Old Trafford after the arrival of Slovenian forward Benjamin Sesko. Hoijlund had a tough second season in Manchester, scoring only 4 goals in the Premier League as United finished 15th. He has been linked with a move back to Italy where he has played in previously at Atalanta. AC Milan are the most likely suitors for him at the moment for an initial loan with option to buy according to Sky Sports. Rasmus Hojlund. Pic:It was on Sky Sports on Friday night where a hilarious viral clip emerged of Sky Sports News presenter Emma Paton made the gaff of forgetting to say million on Hoijlund's price tag, saying the Dane will cost Milan just £40. Some bargain that! Well some in the comments are making the cruel joke of £40 still being too much for Hoijlund. He's still a part of Manchester United for now and could play a part tomorrow as United host Arsenal at Old Trafford, with kick off at 4:30PM.

Home favourite Rasmus Hojgaard holds slender lead at the Danish Golf Championship

Rasmus Hojgaard had his patience tested as he ground out a one-shot lead at the Danish Golf Championship. The home favourite lead by two heading into Saturday's third round, but he was soon overtaken by playing partner Marco Penge when he bogeyed the second and the Englishman birdied the fifth and sixth. Hojgaard birdied the eighth to return to 12 under, but Penge also picked up a shot at the same hole to remain one ahead. Penge bogeyed the 11th to slip back and when Hojgaard nervelessly birdied the 17th, the Dane was in the lead on his own. The 24-year-old, who won this event in 2023, was forced to chip on to the 17th fairway following an errant tee-shot at the last, but somehow saved par to remain in front at 13 under, with Penge in close quarters at Fureso Golf Klub. When asked if his heart was pumping when putting from six feet for par at the last, Hojgaard said: "It was but it was dead quiet, so I was looking forward to seeing what the reaction was going to be like. It's going to be an interesting day tomorrow. "Hundred per cent (the aim was to be patient). The wind was tricky out there, it was gusty, it was changing directions. So yeah, the patience got tested a lot today. "It was great, I really enjoyed it. Hopefully I can bring some tears out there tomorrow. This is our fifth major so it would be cool if I could stand there with a trophy tomorrow. "It's a part of it. If I want to go out and play well tomorrow, I have to be able to handle the situation well. I'm looking forward to it. I know it's not going to be totally enjoyable, but I'm looking forward to it." Englishman Ben Schmidt carded eight birdies and a bogey as he equalled the course record with a stunning 64 to climb into solo third at nine under. Sweden's Mikael Lindberg recorded the 16th ace of the 2025 DP World Tour campaign with a hole-in-one at the par-three second. Ireland's Conor Purcell is two after a round of 76 which sadly included a double bogey at the last.
