Buxar DM inspects preparations for Shrawan Mela

Time of India10-07-2025
Buxar: With the holy month of Shrawan commencing on Friday, the district administration has made a comprehensive plan covering security, traffic regulation, and essential civic amenities, anticipating huge influx of devotees at the historic Baba Brahmeshwar Nath Temple in Brahmapur of Buxar district.
This year, the 30-day period will include four 'Shrawan Somvars' (holy Mondays), during which lakhs of
Kanwariyas
are expected to collect sacred water from the Ganga in Buxar and offer it at Baba Brahmeshwar Nath Temple. As per the official estimate, nearly 10 lakh devotees are expected to participate in the Shrawan Mela here.
On Thursday, Buxar DM Vidyanand Singh, SP Shubham Arya, Dumraon SDM Rakesh Kumar, and DSP Afaque Akhtar Ansari jointly inspected the temple premises.
"As part of the crowd control measures, 15 drop gates have been installed to prevent overcrowding and manage the flow of devotees. Sensitive areas —including Ramrekha Ghat, Shrinath Baba Temple, Gaurishankar Temple (Sohni Patti), and Sokhadham (Itadhi) — will be under constant CCTV surveillance.
To enhance women's safety, female police personnel and magistrates will be deployed at all key points," he said.
According to the DM, given the expected rise in vehicular movement along NH-922, a dedicated lane has also been designated for kanwariyas. Additionally, two and four-wheeler traffic will be restricted from Veer Kunwar Singh Chowk to Alka Cinema in Buxar town. Lathi force units, women constables, and cyber police teams will be stationed at major intersections and ghats to maintain law and order and monitor social media for misinformation.
Municipal bodies have also been directed to ensure proper sanitation, install temporary toilets, and provide clean drinking water at temples and ghats across the district.
