Daniel Radcliffe puts on a loved up display with his glamorous long-term girlfriend Erin Darke as they make a rare red carpet appearance in New York

Daily Mail24-04-2025

Daniel Radcliffe put on a loved up display with his long-term girlfriend Erin Darke as they graced the red carpet at the opening night of the Broadway musical Just in Time on Wednesday.
The Harry Potter actor, 35, seemed to be in high spirits as he turned up to watch the new Bobby Darin musical at The Circle in the Square Theatre in New York City.
He looked dapper as he stepped out in a smart grey suit layered over a colourful pastel yellow and green shirt.
The actor added shiny brown brogues to complete his outfit as he wrapped his arm around his stunning girlfriend.
American actress Erin, 40, looked ethereal in a cream and pink frilly floral maxi dress, which cinched in at the waist before flowing out into a long skirt.
She wore her long brunette tresses in loose curls and opted for a glowing palette of makeup to elevate her natural beauty.

The smitten couple, who have been together since 2012 and welcomed their first child in April 2023, appeared to be on cloud nine as they shared a joke on the red carpet before heading inside.
Daniel and Erin first met on the set of 2013 American biographical drama film Kill Your Darlings.
They played a couple in the film, with Daniel later admitting that he was immediately attracted to Erin.
Last year, the British actor picked up his first ever Tony Award for Best Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical Tony for Merrily We Roll Along - and made rare comments about Erin and their son in his speech.
He said: 'My love, Erin. You and our son are the best thing that's ever happened to me. I love you so much. Thank you so much' - as a tearful Darke watched from the audience.'
He added: 'Thank you so much. Okay, I'm going to just talk fast and try not to cry.'
It comes as Daniel is yet to speak out after JK Rowling has been celebrating the Supreme Court's landmark judgment that trans women are not legally women.
Harry Potter stars Daniel. Rupert Grint and Emma Watson who have v ocally opposed her stance on gender identity have so far stayed silent.
Justices in London ruled last week that in the 2010 Equality Act, the definition of the term 'women' relates only to biological women.

Judge Lord Hodge warned against taking the ruling as a 'triumph' for either side, but gender critical campaigners have celebrated the finding as a victory.
Multi-millionaire author Rowling, who reportedly helped fund the women's rights campaign group which brought the Supreme Court case, shared a photo online from on board her $150 million superyacht puffing a cigar in celebration.
She told her 14.3million followers on X, formerly Twitter: 'I love it when a plan comes together.'
Yet while she has been commenting at length on social media about the Supreme Court decision, fans have noted the apparent silence from stars who featured in the blockbuster movie adaptations of her Harry Potter books.
Daniel, Emma and Rupert have spoken publicly in support of gender ideology - that biologically male trans women should be regarded as women.
And they have each commented in opposition to Rowling's views on the issue, while expressing their gratitude for her role in their careers.
The author herself appeared to aim a jibe at them last month, when sharing on her X account a response to another user who asked: 'What actor/actress instantly ruins a movie for you?'
Rowling wrote: 'Three guesses. Sorry, but that was irresistible.'
And she previously indicated in April last year she would not forgive Radcliffe nor Watson as she criticised celebrities she said had 'cosied up to a movement intent on eroding women's hard-won rights'.
On that occasion the multi-millionaire author hit out at stars accused of using their 'platforms to cheer on the transitioning of minors' after the release of the long-awaited Cass report into gender treatment in the UK.

Neighbours star shares update on seven month old son after brain tumour surgery

Australian model, Erin McNaught, has revealed her seven month old son has undergone surgery to remove a brain tumour after heartbreakingly noticing a 'rapid decline in his health and happiness' Former Neighbours star Erin McNaught has told fans her baby son, Obi, has undergone surgery to remove a tumour on his brain following "the hardest few days". The brave tot was diagnosed with cancer, aged just seven months, after Erin noticed a "rapid decline in his health and happiness". Thankfully, the mum-of-three, 43, said Obi's medical team were "very happy" with how the major operation went this week as she updated followers while thanking them for their support. Taking to Instagram, sharing a snap of herself kissing little Obi, whose head was wrapped up in bandages, in hospital following his operation, she said: "Today Obi had the surgery to remove the tumour. The amazing team here are very happy with the way it went." ‌ ‌ Earlier this week, the former Miss Universe Australia and her music producer partner Stace Cadet shared Obi's devastating diagnosis. The couple, who welcomed their first child together in October last year, issued a tearjerking joint statement on Thursday morning, as they opened up about their son's health concerns. "For the last few weeks we have noticed a rapid decline in Obi's behaviour and happiness," the statement began. It continued: "He was having problems eating, sleeping and most recently, keeping his head straight." The couple explained that after noticing Obi change so quickly, they booked him in for an MRI scan under the advice of their doctor. The scan, conducted earlier this week, tragically revealed that a large tumour was situated on the right side of his brain. "At about 6:00pm Tuesday night we met with a neurosurgeon who broke the heartbreaking news," Erin and Stace continued, adding: "We are absolutely shattered and the last few days have been our hardest days." Following Obi's operation, the proud parents praised the team at Queensland Children's Hospital, who are now working with Erin and Stace to devise a treatment plan. ‌ "Our team at the Queensland Children Hospital have been incredible and remain hopeful that we can remove the mass and get Obi healthy and happy pending the results," they concluded. The post was met with lots of well wishes from from family, friends and fans, including Erin's ex-husband, British musician, Example, who she shares two children with - sons Evander, seven, and Ennio, five. In November 2007, Erin was cast as Sienna Cammeniti in Neighbours. She said she was "nervous" about joining the show because it was "a big change" to the modelling work she was known for. However, after she began filming her first scenes on 17 December, by March 2008, she revealed her contract had been extended three months before leaving the iconic Aussie soap in July 2008.

Nan Shepherd: Naked and Unashamed cements her place in literary canon

The play tells the story of Shepherd as an author, teacher, hillwalker and lover, and explores the 30-years-delay in the publication of her masterpiece The Living Mountain. Now in its second run in Pitlochry, I did not want to miss. Before entering the studio space, we were told the show was 'very clever' by staff and it had sold out the remainder of the performances. The thirst for knowledge about Shepherd has not been quenched since her appearance on Scotland's five-pound note in 2016. She has taken her rightful place among the great Scottish writers of her time, of whom she was friends with, and with that, becoming a posthumous celebrity. Holding the titular role, Susan Coyle effortlessly shifted as a child playing in the woods with her father, to a young woman teasing a married man, a middle-aged teacher relishing in the outdoors, and an old woman reflecting on her life's work, then later in her final days. Around and around, we were carried, spinning through time and Shepherd's life. Along the way, Adam Buksh joined her, embodying several men who played key roles in her life. He transformed into her father, her lover John Macmurray, an American journalist who tracked her down in 1976, and her mentor Neil Gunn. The periods of her life that were played out each helped capture a full-bodied picture of Shepherd. We saw her as a child in the Quarry Wood by her house in 1901, aged eight – which later inspired her first novel, by the same name, published in 1928 – playing with her father and learning about communication between trees. We were then transported to 1981, to see Nan grown and old, in a care home in Aberdeen slightly lost and confused. These two scenes bookend the play, with us returning to them again for the final two scenes. The play makes clear that Nan was closely attached the granite city, with the audience asked to fill in the evident gap: 'I was born in Aberdeen, I went to school in Aberdeen, and so I teach in …' when we meet her in 1938 in a classroom. Again, none of the staging has been moved, and Coyle doesn't change outfits at any point during the 90-minute production. Yet, it is an entirely different time, place and person in front of us. While embodying Shepherd as a teacher, Coyle asks audience members to read passages written by several authors which relate to Scotland and its literary renaissance of the 20th century. We also hear from Charles Murray, Hugh MacDiarmid, Rupert Brooke, James Joyce, and Thomas Hardy, The delivery of these passages by both Coyle and Buksh ensnared the audience and we were hooked on every word. Later, while going through old clippings with Robertson, a review written by Lewis Grassic Gibbon of The Quarry Wood is found, in which he savagely tears apart her work and her use of Scots language. READ MORE: 20 years, 7000 fans, one folk family: Skerryvore's castle show was for them Gibbon would go on to publish Sunset Song four years later, and we are told by Shepherd that his autobiographer said he never read Shepherd's novel. Robertson is aghast that as a student in the US, he was taught Sunset Song and told it was one of the greatest Scottish novels there had ever been but had never heard of Shepherd or her work which embodies the same world as Gibbon's but came first. Shepherd in 1976 notes her novel was written in Scotland, while his was written in England. The audience is left to make their own conclusion, as historians have been also. Instead of holding the audience in a grudge, we explore the deeper impact of what Shepherd was attempting to do at a time when the world was not built for a 'female feminist Scottish writer,' unmarried and uncovering the secrets ready to be shared by the great outdoors in ways that would rival and overtake any male counterpart. So harsh was this backlash, from Gibbon and others, she locked The Living Mountain away. This is the catalyst of the show, with the direction, sound, and writing using this moment to give the narrative a sense of release once the drawer is open. READ MORE: 'Show some respect': Scots hit out at Danish influencer for 'damaging' protected land The relationship between Shepherd and Gunn is also explored but not with conclusion. The journalist pries into whether love letters were exchanged between the two, who had decades-long written correspondence, but Shepherd remains steadfast that he was her mentor. Again, it's not clear whether the pair were intimately involved but both the writing and direction of the show allows the narrative to be explored without making any conclusions about Shepherd's life. The audience is left to read between the lines of all we know about Shepherd. An Aberdonian woman who wrote before her time, saw beyond her reality, and truly understood what the beauty and intricacies of Scotland's landscape and culture could give to this world if seen in its entirety. Her final moments are played out, with a final scene between Shepherd and her father bringing tears to many in the audience who closed the show with a standing ovation.

What we know about the cost of Trump's DC military parade and festival

The parade, which will feature Army equipment, flyovers, musical performances and thousands of soldiers in uniforms from the past and the present, caps off a week of programming designed to showcase the country's military power. Trump posted a short video address about the parade to Truth Social earlier this month, inviting Americans to what he called an "unforgettable" celebration, "one like you've never seen before." Officials initially estimated the Army Birthday Festival and parade would range in cost from $25 million to $45 million, but the Army's latest estimate totaled $40 million, as USA TODAY's Tom Vanden Brook previously reported, citing a Defense official who was not authorized to speak publicly. The Army Corps of Engineers told USA TODAY it is "not expecting damage" to the roads of the nation's capital due to the parade, which will see dozens of huge military vehicles, including more than two dozen tanks, fighting vehicles and Strykers and two types of armored ground combat vehicles, roll through D.C. streets. Yet if damage is incurred, an army official managing the event said the Army will be responsible. The day kicks off at about 8:15 a.m. ET with a wreath-laying ceremony headed by Sec. of Defense Pete Hegseth at Arlington National Cemetery. It will be livestreamed here, and followed by a succession of all-day events including an evening parade and wrapping up with a fireworks display. The parade, along with several other events and concerts, will also be livestreamed. Organizers say the procession begins at 6:30 p.m. ET.
