Double victory for Redlynch & Hale
The first team welcomed Whiteparish CC to Redlynch Playing Fields and asked them to bowl first on another scorching Saturday.
Openers, Ian Tanner and Dave Webber, started off strong with a half-century partnership, but Webber was dismissed for 25 before really capitalising on the good start.
It was a similar story for most of the Redlynch batters, with seven of them reaching double figures, but none scoring higher than 32 that was made by Jos Carreras coming in at number three.
The Whiteparish bowlers shared the wickets, but Ed Bayliss stood out at the later stage of the innings with 3-27, helping restrict Redlynch to what seemed an under-par 196/9.
The total soon seemed a lot bigger after the Whiteparish opening batters were quickly back in the hutch thanks to left-armer seamer Ben Brown.
Redlynch kept hunting early wickets, but Craig Vigar (50) scored a quick half-century to show some fight back, though once he fell it saw Whiteparish continue to struggle at 108-6 inside the 28th over with Andy Soutar (3-39) and George Hayes (2-44) ripping through the middle order.
Nathan Pollard wrapped up the tail (2-19) as Whiteparish were bowled out for 164.
The 32-run victory sees Redlynch jump above Whiteparish in the league, and they will face already relegated South Wilts this Saturday.
Redlynch's second team beat Hythe & Dibden third team by 55 runs after bowling them out for 170.
Skipper, Ewan Tanner, top scored with 81 at the top of the order, and 41 from Sid Coombs helped Redlynch set 225/7 from their 40 overs.
In defence, Tom Padwick starred with the ball, taking 5-32.
Despite a couple of scores from Callum Simmonds (61) and David Parry (41), the Hythe batters were outplayed by the Redlynch bowlers.

Pep Guardiola: Manchester City squad still too big, situation is ‘not healthy'
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola reiterated after his side's win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday that he is still not happy with the size of his squad and that more departures are necessary. Goals from Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders and a double from Erling Haaland saw City beat Wolves 4-0 at Molineux in their opening match of the Premier League season. Cherki and Reijnders both arrived this summer and made their debuts in the game, alongside goalkeeper James Trafford and left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri. City have also signed back-up goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea as well as midfielder Sverre Nypan, who is set to move to Middlesbrough on loan. Advertisement Several players have already left the club this summer. Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker both left to join Napoli and Burnley respectively, with James McAtee signing for Nottingham Forest. Jack Grealish has joined Everton on loan, while Vitor Reis will spend the 2025-26 season with Girona. Despite the departures, Guardiola has insisted that the squad is still too big and needs to be reduced before the end of the transfer window on September 1. 'Too much. Too many people,' Guardiola said after the Wolves game when asked about the issue. 'On the bench we had Nathan (Ake) and Gundo (Ilkay Gundogan). 'I like a deep squad to compete in all competitions but I don't want to leave players at home. It's not healthy. You cannot create a good vibe or atmosphere to compete. The club has known it since last season but the situation is what it is. In the next two weeks, people will talk with players and agents to find a solution.' Phil Foden, Rodri, Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol, and Savinho all missed Saturday's match through injury. Some members of Guardiola's squad continue to be linked with moves away. Forest are working on a deal to sign full-back Rico Lewis while Tottenham Hotspur made an approach for Savinho. This is not the first time that Guardiola has lamented the size of his squad. 'We have a long squad, too many players,' he said on June 22. 'We cannot go with 26 or 27 players this season because there would be more not playing. 'Step by step, maybe a few players are going to move.' Goalkeeper Ederson also missed the Wolves match through illness amid uncertainty over his future at the club following Trafford's arrival. Yesterday I saw (Ederson's) illness, gastroenteritis and after I didn't speak to the club,' said Guardiola. 'If the player wants to leave he has to leave but on the conditions of the club. There's no sense if he's not happy here but the final decision and the way to make the deal belongs 100 per cent to the club so I don't know what will happen in the next two weeks.' City return to action next Saturday when they host Tottenham in their second Premier League game of the campaign. () Spot the pattern. Alabama football players swap cleats for bowling shoes, crown Zabien Brown best on the team
Alabama football players Qua Russaw and Zabien Brown picked up another sport over the summer. A select group of Crimson Tide defenders have spent the last few months slinging bowling balls, and Russaw told the Tuscaloosa News at media day that Brown is the "best bowler" on the team by far. Brown confirmed that report during team press conferences on Wednesday. "Before camp started like that, we was probably going every day," Brown said. QTNA: Has Alabama football decided on starting kicker? Special teams coordinator Jay Nunez says 'no' MORE FROM MEDIA DAY: Ryan Williams ditched nail polish this summer, but will it return for Alabama football season? The guys even bought their own balls. "Just a level of bonding that was real fun," Brown continued. "Those games, they get up there, though. 180, 200s. They get serious." What is Alabama football defensive back Zabien Brown's best score on the bowling alley? Brown believes his best score so far is a 194 and he hopes to splash 200 sooner than later, but acknowledged that football is the main focus right now. "When we get back to it...I'm probably a little rusty right now," Brown said. Russaw would tell you that Brown was being humble about his skill, though. "We just came to the bowling alley and he's just curving it, spinning it," Russaw explained to the Tuscaloosa News. Russaw learned how to curve the ball ahead of media day, but he noted Brown wasn't giving away any of his own tricks of the trade. In fact, Russaw and defensive lineman James Smith spent extra time at the bowling alley to "improve their game." Even without Brown in attendance. There's no official Alabama football bowling championship set at present. While the season is weeks away, it isn't out of the question. According to Brown, there's still time to catch the guys at the alley. Although the Crimson Tide kicks off the 2025 season at Florida State on Aug. 30, their bowling passes don't run out until September.
