Double victory for Redlynch & Hale
By Will Hewlett
The first team welcomed Whiteparish CC to Redlynch Playing Fields and asked them to bowl first on another scorching Saturday.
Openers, Ian Tanner and Dave Webber, started off strong with a half-century partnership, but Webber was dismissed for 25 before really capitalising on the good start.
It was a similar story for most of the Redlynch batters, with seven of them reaching double figures, but none scoring higher than 32 that was made by Jos Carreras coming in at number three.
The Whiteparish bowlers shared the wickets, but Ed Bayliss stood out at the later stage of the innings with 3-27, helping restrict Redlynch to what seemed an under-par 196/9.
The total soon seemed a lot bigger after the Whiteparish opening batters were quickly back in the hutch thanks to left-armer seamer Ben Brown.
Redlynch kept hunting early wickets, but Craig Vigar (50) scored a quick half-century to show some fight back, though once he fell it saw Whiteparish continue to struggle at 108-6 inside the 28th over with Andy Soutar (3-39) and George Hayes (2-44) ripping through the middle order.
Nathan Pollard wrapped up the tail (2-19) as Whiteparish were bowled out for 164.
The 32-run victory sees Redlynch jump above Whiteparish in the league, and they will face already relegated South Wilts this Saturday.
Redlynch's second team beat Hythe & Dibden third team by 55 runs after bowling them out for 170.
Skipper, Ewan Tanner, top scored with 81 at the top of the order, and 41 from Sid Coombs helped Redlynch set 225/7 from their 40 overs.
In defence, Tom Padwick starred with the ball, taking 5-32.
Despite a couple of scores from Callum Simmonds (61) and David Parry (41), the Hythe batters were outplayed by the Redlynch bowlers.
