He added: 'If you also have teams, if you just take Brentford, that have developed dramatically. Even Brighton, who were able to invest 300 million.
"They were also in the Championship five or six years ago. But making that leap will be the challenge for all newly promoted teams.
"I'm excited about Leeds, who, in my opinion, have been the best team this season. They have an incredible fan base.

World's most valuable players revealed as Jude Bellingham leapfrogs Erling Haaland… but lags behind Lamine Yamal
Two Englishman rank on the list while a Ballon d'Or candidate fails to make the cut TOP BILLING World's most valuable players revealed as Jude Bellingham leapfrogs Erling Haaland… but lags behind Lamine Yamal Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) FOOTBALL'S most valuable superstars have been revealed. This summer the Club World Cup has seen the creation of a unique transfer window format, with the shopping window open twice after a closure in the middle. 7 The 10 most expensive players in the world have been revealed Credit: Alamy 7 Jude Bellingham ranks joint second behind Lamine Yamal Credit: Getty 7 Erling Haaland is the Premier League's most expensive star Credit: Getty 7 Kylian Mbappe has seen his stock rise following his Real Madrid switch Credit: Getty 7 Bukayo Saka makes one of two English players on the list Credit: Getty June 10 represents the end of the first stage of the window, before it reopens on June 16 and runs through to September 1. And for any clubs looking to splash some serious cash on one of world football's best stars, figures from Transfermarkt have revealed the current top 10 most valuable players. Kicking the list off at number 10 is the oldest player on the list, Federico Valverde. The 26-year-old has been a top star for Real Madrid for a number of years and consequently he has a huge transfer value of £110million (€130m). READ MORE IN FOOTBALL MIC DROP Michael Carrick lands new job after Middlesbrough axe as John O'Shea joins him The midfielder is one of four Real Madrid Galacticos to be named on the list. Three stars have an identical value of £118m (€140m) from nine down to seven, and are all 22 years of age. Germany stars Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz both ply their trade in the Bundesliga for Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, respectively, while Spain star Pedri plays for Barcelona in La Liga. Pedri's value has increased from £101m in the last edition of the figures in March, no doubt due to Barcelona's league-winning campaign and semi-final Champions League run. BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK However, of the three, only Wirtz has been linked with a mega-money transfer away from his club, with Liverpool trying to find a middle ground with Bayer over a fee. The Reds' latest offer saw them submit an offer worth £113m, although that is still some way short of the £126m Erik ten Hag's new outfit want to sell. New footage sees raging Jude Bellingham KICK VAR monitor in frustration after Real Madrid's last-gasp defeat The sixth player on the list is valued at £126m (€150m) and is the first English star to be named, Arsenal's Bukayo Saka. The 23-year-old's ability speaks for itself, and England saw how much they missed his flair and creativity against Andorra at the weekend. Getting into the top five, Brazil superstar Vinicius Jr was previously the joint most expensive star on the list at £169m (€200m). However, a disappointing season that left Real Madrid without a trophy saw his value decrease to £143m (€170m), which now ranks the 24-year-old ranked fifth. Just above him is team-mate Kylian Mbappe, who despite having the same lack of silverware has actually seen his value increase to £152m (€180m). That figure is identical to former Borussia Dortmund duo Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham. 7 Manchester City ace Haaland, 24, was previously valued at £169m, but like Vinicius, suffered a slight reduction after seeing his club fail to win a major trophy. Bellingham, 21, managed to escape the same fate and has remained on the £152m valuation. However, those figures place the trio behind Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal. Yamal is one of the front-runners for the Ballon d'Or as a result of his stellar season for his club. He saw his value increase to now make the 17-year-old the single most expensive player in world football. Yamal only recently signed a new contract with Barcelona that will see him earn £33.5m per year. Cole Palmer narrowly missed out on the top 10 after seeing his value fall to £102m, putting him level with Declan Rice and Alexander Isak. Former Crystal Palace star Michael Olise is now in the top 20 after seeing his value rise to £85m. This matches Alexis Mac Allister and Phil Foden, the latter of whom has lost almost £25m in value. Champions League winners Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have gone up in value to now be worth £76m, with Ballon d'Or candidate Ousmane Dembele valued the same.

'A no-brainer' deal but do Whites need transfers now?
We asked for your views on whether Leeds United need to act urgently in the transfer market, as the first of the two transfer windows comes to a close on are some of your comments:Dave: It would be nice to get a couple of signings sealed in this first window, as the longer a player is with us before next season begins the better. That said, the squad won't be back in training for a good while yet, so there's no reason to panic. I think the players we'll be in for are likely to be those where a lot of wheeling and dealing needs to be done, as we can't throw £120m at specific targets. I expect many of our signings will come at the back end of the second window rather than late in this one. I have faith it will be worth the Surely the most straightforward work is getting Manor Solomon secured back at Elland Road. There are so many other links and possibilities out there, but this seems like a no-brainer. I'm not sure what the hold up I don't expect any signings until after 1 July, when the new financial year starts for We definitely want one addition, just to prove that we're not going to sit on our hands over the opportunity! It would give hope to the fans that, despite the setbacks, we are interested in becoming a Premier League team and not a yo-yo Leeds are so frustrating at transfer time. Things always seem to go to the wire. Nottingham Forest went mad a few season back signing players right through the windows - and ultimately it has paid off. It gives players time to settle in and gel, so pull your fingers out Leeds!

What Benjamin Sesko has said about transfer as Arsenal saga takes worrying turn
Benjamin Sesko is one of two potential striker signings for Arsenal this summer and the RB Leipzig striker has regularly clarified his future with the German side amid plenty of speculation Benjamin Sesko could finally get a Premier League move this summer. Arsenal are pushing hard for the RB Leipzig hitman as they aim to bolster their frontline ahead of next season. It would be quite the coup for the Gunners given the Slovenian striker has also been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea in the past. He is one of two forwards that Mikel Arteta has his eyes on, the other being Viktor Gyokeres. And while the North London side are firmly in the race, they could be met with one issue: competition from elsewhere. Saudi sides are also making their interest known having tabled a £30m-per-year deal to Gyokeres. Al-Hilal are ready to make a move after losing out on Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen which could leave Arsenal's plans in tatters. They want a deal struck TODAY, ahead of the first phase of the summer window closing. That would allow them to register the forward for the inaugural - and money spinning - Club World Cup. It means that June 10, could be the defining day in the Sesko to Arsenal transfer saga, with a resolution potentially just hours away. So, what exactly has Sesko said about his future and could he have dropped a clue about where his future lies? Mirror Football takes a look… Leipzig 'better' This summer's window is far from the first time that Sesko has been linked with a sensational Premier League switch. In 2023, Manchester United were very keen on him during a prolific spell at Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg. Unsurprisingly, Sesko eventually stayed within the Red Bull system as he moved to Leipzig for around £20m. And he explained exactly why he chose to snub a move to England. "The thing is, I wasn't really involved in these kinds of conversations, but I think it was better to come here,' he said. "It was very important for me to go to a place that plays a similar style of football. I already knew what I had to do and didn't have to go through a whole learning process again." 'Happy to stay' Following a debut season in which he scored 18 goals in all competitions, Sesko's stock was high once again, with Arsenal earmarking as their top summer target. But he surprisingly decided to sign a new deal in Germany until 2029. Explaining why he was happy to commit his future to Leipzig, Sesko said: "I had a good first year at RB Leipzig and am incredibly happy to be here. Team, club, city, fans - the overall package is simply outstanding for me. The early contract extension was therefore the logical next step for me. 'Even though I didn't play or score as much in the first half of the season, this phase was very important for me and my development. I feel a lot of trust and appreciation throughout the club and that is crucial for being able to perform to my full potential. In the second half of the season in particular, I was able to give something back with my goals. 'We have a team with great potential and a balanced mix of young and experienced players. I'm really looking forward to taking the next steps with this team. We've already achieved a lot in my first season and often shown the amount of quality and outstanding football we can bring to the pitch. But there's still a lot more to be done and that's now our common goal." 'Anything can happen' Sesko continued his development with Leipzig during his second campaign at the club and scored a further 21 goals. And even more transfer interest was anticipated heading into the summer. Sesko however was unfazed and was determined to just control his performances on the pitch. He said: "I'm now focusing on the final games until the end of the season, and then we'll see what happens. 'Anything can happen. But, for now, I'm 100 percent focused on Leipzig, especially on these last two games." 'A club that suits me' Intriguingly, Sesko then hinted at the type of club that he would want to sign for should he depart Leipzig in the near future. And in a positive update for those of an Arsenal persuasion, he suggested that money wouldn't be the driving factor behind his next move, but instead a club that would maximise his considerable ability. Sesko said: 'Leipzig has given me a lot and continues to give me a lot every day. It's a great club to develop at. In the future, I want to play for a club that suits me, that brings out the best in me. That's the most important thing for me.'
