Professional Triathlon Organisation announces Series C funding boost

Yahoo28-07-2025
The Professional Triathletes Organisation has announced a new injection of funding to help in their mission to redefine endurance sport.
The successful completion of a Series C funding round, led by SURJ Sports Investment and supported by Cordillera, Verance Capital and Sir Michael Moritz, will support the PTO's continued growth in international markets as well as building long-term athlete and fan engagement.
PTO CEO Sam Renouf welcomed the news, with the hopes that further funding can also help propel their T100 Triathlon World Tour to greater heights.
'We're delighted to welcome SURJ and Verance Capital to the PTO investor family," he said.
"This is a major milestone not only for us as an organisation, but for the broader vision of triathlon's future.
"Our goal has always been to reimagine the sport for modern audiences and open up participation to athletes of all levels.
"With new partners like SURJ and Verance, we're better equipped than ever to scale our ambitions globally.
"The momentum from our record-breaking T100 Singapore event is just the beginning of what we hope to achieve in 2025 and beyond.'
The Series C investment comes at a time of growth for the PTO. In 2024, the organisation launched the T100 Tour and the event has rapidly expanded in the past 18 months.
With the wellbeing of professional athletes at its heart and widespread fan participation events, the T100 has attracted thousands of eyes to the endurance sport in less than two years and a new round of funding will be viewed as a critical opportunity to only further enhance it's position amongst elite sport.

Restaurant Brands beats quarterly sales estimates on improving fast-food demand

(Reuters) -Restaurant Brands beat second-quarter revenue estimates on Thursday, as its marketing efforts drove demand at Burger King and other brands in the U.S. and international markets. The company ramped up its advertising and promotional efforts, leaning on movies such as 'How to train your Dragon' and partnerships with actor Ryan Reynolds, to attract customers in core regions such as the U.S. and Canada. Like most major fast-food chains, including Yum Brands and McDonald's, Burger King has also introduced value-meal deals starting at $5 to boost foot traffic as consumer spending in the U.S. sees a decline amid concerns over tariff-related impact. Restaurant Brands posted quarterly revenue of $2.41 billion, beating analysts' estimates of $2.32 billion, according to data compiled by LSEG. However, its adjusted profit of 94 cents per share missed analysts' estimates of 97 cents, owing to increased advertising expenses coupled with higher costs from supply chain and commodities such as beef and coffee. McDonald's beat quarterly global same-store sales estimates on the back of increased affordable meal bundles and promotions, while Taco Bell parent Yum Brands took a hit from muted spending. Quarterly same-store sales at Burger King outlets in the U.S., the company's biggest revenue-generating region, rose 1.5%, compared to a 0.1% increase a year ago. Increased marketing investments also helped Restaurant Brands in lifting sales at Tim Hortons in the quarter ended June 30, which had dipped in May due to slower demand. Comparable sales in the company's international segments, which include restaurant chains such as Burger King and Popeyes, rose 4.2%, compared with a 2.6% rise a year ago. The company's total operating costs and expenses in the second quarter rose about 36%, compared with a 16% increase a year ago. Sign in to access your portfolio

Singapore's Keppel raises $4.9 billion in private funds for education and data centre assets

(Reuters) -Singapore's Keppel has secured S$6.3 billion ($4.91 billion) in funds under management so far this year for its private fund strategies, including education assets and data centres, the global asset manager and operator said on Thursday. The company said the raising includes around S$907 million in capital commitments from global institutional investors for its Keppel Education Asset Fund II and Keppel Data Centre Fund III. The company aims to oversee $150 billion of funds by 2030. Christina Tan, CEO of fund management and also its chief investment officer said, "Keppel's private funds continue to attract robust investor interest, underscoring the strength of our platform and the appeal of strategies aligned with transformative megatrends". The Singapore-based asset manager last week reported net profit of S$431 million for the six months ended June, while also announcing a S$500 million buyback programme.
