Jamie Borthwick's EastEnders job ‘at risk' over disabled slur scandal
DISGRACED EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick's job on the soap could be at risk after his disabled slur scandal.
The actor - who has played Jay Brown for 19 years on the BBC soap - was suspended by bosses after he was filmed using a sickening slur while backstage at Strictly Come Dancing.

He issued a grovelling apology to The Sun on Sunday but now sources say it may not be enough to bring the matter to a close.
While Jamie's suspension isn't believed to have had a drastic effect on filming schedules or re-writes, it has put a question mark in the industry over his job at the soap.
A source said: 'Jamie is well thought of but Jay hasn't played a central role in the show for a while.
'The character hasn't had a major storyline recently - he's been very much a supporting character of late.
'Meanwhile Jamie has been kept busy outside of EastEnders by being given the Strictly Christmas special in 2023 and then the full series last year.
'But consquently on EastEnders he's barely been seen with about 30 appearances on screen since last summer.
'And with a new boss in Ben Wadey who only recently took the helm and with the scandal taking place so soon into his tenure feeling is that Jamie's place on the show could be at serious risk.'
Jamie sent shockwaves behind the scenes at the BBC soap's Elstree-based set last weekend when The Sun On Sunday revealed a video had emerged of him on the set of the dance show last year.
In it, he was seen using the term 'm********s' to describe the people of Blackpool, the seaside town where the show was being filmed for its annual special.
Jamie made the shameful remark while the Strictly cast were at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom last November.
Strictly's Jamie Borthwick cheated on me during the show and then used co-star to try and smooth it over, ex tells pals
The footage - which was sent to a pal - shows him backstage during rehearsals alongside co-star Wynne Evans, who was recently sacked by the BBC.
The pair were excited to learn they had been selected for the Strictly tour, which toured the country earlier this year.
Jamie is then seen laughing, before saying: 'Blackpool by the way. Absolute m********s.'
The BBC suspended him from the soap while they investigate the matter.
They said in a statement: 'This language is entirely unacceptable and in no way reflects the values or standards we hold and expect at the BBC. We have robust processes in place for this.'
Jamie apologised saying: 'I want to apologise sincerely and wholeheartedly for the words I used in the video showing my reaction to making it through Blackpool week on Strictly.
'I am deeply sorry for any offence and upset my words and actions have caused.
'It is no excuse, but I did not fully understand the derogatory term I used and its meaning. That is on me completely.
'Now I am aware, I am deeply embarrassed to have used the term and directed it in the way I did. It was wrong.
'When I made the video, I was excited and caught up in the moment. Again, that is no excuse. But my regrettable actions are not a true reflection of my views, or who I am.
'I enjoyed every minute of my time in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom and the town itself. The people of Blackpool have always been amazing with the Strictly crew, dancers and cast members.
Strictly Curse - The Lowdown
STRICTLY Come Dancing's latest series has already been hit by rumours of a BBC show 'curse' - yet what is it?
A host of Strictly Come Dancing stars have been struck by the Strictly Curse during the past two decades.
This is where celebrities who may or may not be attached in the outside world become more than friends with their professional partners.
A total of 20 relationships are said to have been impacted so far over the show's 20 years.
It has seen relationships crumble with dance floor romances and punishing rehearsal schedules to blame.
This includes the partnerships of Louise and Jamie Redknapp as well as Kevin Clifton and Karen Hauer.
Controversially, Judge Craig Revel Horwood once said of the curse: 'I think of it as a blessing, to be honest. One person is married, the other one had a girlfriend but my point in this entire thing is: if you come on Strictly, sometimes you are in a relationship that is not working anyway.
'There has to be something wrong in your relationship before it all goes awry.'
Series one winner Brendan Cole left his fiancé, fellow Strictly professional Camilla Dallerup, during filming for the very first series in spring 2004.
Brendan was said to have fallen for his celebrity partner and inaugural winner Natasha Kaplinsky, although the duo didn't confirm they were romantically involved.
'I know they will be again for this year's show and those in years to come. I am truly sorry.'

Jaw-dropping moment BBC radio host drops the F-bomb live on air as he is hit by cramp - then shamefacedly tells listeners: 'I went on a course yesterday to be better on the radio'
A BBC radio host was caught swearing live on air as he is hit by a cramp, just one day after going on a course to be a better host. Ian Skye, the mid-morning presenter of BBC Radio Derby, was left red faced after his screams were heard live on air when he thought his producers had cut away from him. In the background, the presenter screams: 'Ow, f***ing hell,' before the show cuts back to the presenters chatting after a song had played. As his co-host joked they had been on a training course the day before to improve their presenting skills, saying: 'I don't think they suggested suddenly getting unbearably agonising cramp and shouting really loud on the radio.' Ian stuttered in response, saying: 'No, that's probably not what I should have come in and done today.' He then added: 'Can I just say, if before that amazing song from Kate Bush, and I say if. You'd have had to be deaf if you didn't hear a rude word. 'I really profusely apologise. You know when something happens and it's just instinct. My very, very calm producer said 'you're still on the radio, Ian.' TV critic Scott Bryan tweeted about the incident with the words: 'We now cross over to BBC Radio Derby.' And people online have immediately had their say on the hilarious moment. One person said: 'Known Ian for 30 yeas. He is a good guy. This is a moment and it has passed. Why we still feel the need to pretend to be shocked in a 24/7 unedited world is beyond me. Plus, it is possibly one of the most entertaining things on BBC derby in years!' Another added: 'I honestly think this is my moment of the year.' A third agreed: 'I have laughed so hard at this so many times, thank you for posting it, thank you so much.' A fourth chimed: 'Perfectly managed. Swore, made a joke. Didn't make a big deal of it. Really well handled.' However some people were not as pleased by the blunder. One person said: 'Tens of people in the Derby and the Derby area will have heard a swearword, and you're laughing.' While another wrote: 'Did not apologise straight away, made a joke instead. Ofcom warning.' Ian has been a radio presenter for over 13 years, having worked at Radio Wyvern in Worcester as well as stations in Kent, Newcastle and Teesside. It was at Radio Wyvern that he actually chose his name Skye. His real name is Wickens but his bosses said Wickens wouldn't work in a sung jingle. He liked the Isle of Skye, so Ian Skye was born. The episode has echoes of Maryam Moshiri raising her middle finger at the camera during a BBC news broadcast in December 2023. The clip, which went viral, showed her raising her eyebrows and tilting her head as she raised her middle finger at the camera for a few seconds as she came on screen as the intro music comes to an end. She said about the incident: 'Hey everyone, yesterday just before the top of the hour I was joking around a bit with the team in the gallery. 'I was pretending to count down as the director was counting me down from 10-0.. including the fingers to show the number. So from 10 fingers held up to one. 'When we got to 1 I turned finger around as a joke and did not realise that this would be caught on camera. It was a private joke with the team and I'm so sorry it went out on air!'

EastEnders fans go wild as they 'work out' icon's soap return after 'huge clue'
Monday night is set to be a huge night in EastEnders for Ben Wadey's first episode in charge and fans have 'worked out' which huge character could be returning to the soap After Chris Clenshaw's final episode aired last night, EastEnders were left with some very exciting news. On Monday - to mark Ben Wadey's first episode, the soap will simulcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 7.30pm. The last time this happened was during the 40th anniversary live week in Feburary - so fans can expect something big. But that's not all, to go alongside the announcement, EastEnders released a promo video of a door opening on the Square with the caption: "Knock Knock. Who's there?" Fans now believe there's a huge return for one character, and they think they've 'worked out' who. Along with the announcement, new Executive Producer Ben Wadey teased: 'Next week marks the start of something big in Walford that we hope will get everyone talking, and it's only just the beginning. We've got twists, shocks, and plenty of drama lined up for a summer you don't want to miss.' In the promo video, the door that opens has number 14 on it. Could this be a huge clue? Many fans seem to think so. Taking to the Instagram post, one fan questioned: "What's the 14 significance?!" One penned: "Searched who left 14 years ago and it was Jim Branning, who unfortunately cannot return. Butttttttt Tanya Branning left 14 years ago too so I think it's the return of OSCAR BRANNING," as another wrote: "Max and Oscar." Recently, pictures were released of a grown boy filming with Lauren, with many believing it was Oscar. Jake Wood has also been rumoured to make a return as the iconic, troubled Max Branning – could it be as soon as Monday? Others were certain it was Max returning, as one penned: "Max did 14 years if you minus his gap year," with a third simply writing: "Max is back!" Spoilers for Monday reveal Alfie receives a phone call from Stacey Slater - although no context was given. No EastEnders fan could ever forget the infamous affair between Max and Stacey – so could it link to this? However, other fans believe it could be the return of Zoe Slater, following Kat and Alfie's big day. It was recently reported that Michelle Ryan would be reprising her role as Zoe, and fans think now is the perfect time. "I have a feeling that this will either be a Zoe Slater return or a Max Branning return. Either way it's going to be big," wrote one, as another said: "Zoe return? Would tie in with Kat and Alfie getting married the previous day. Not sure where she's supposed to be at the moment but maybe missed her flight or something and was planning a surprise wedding appearance." "The spoilers for the 16th, says that Alfie is hiding something, and Kat & Alfie have just got married. So I guess it's Zoe returning on Monday," penned another. Many theories have been floating around about Zoe's return with some believing she could be Joel Marshall's mum. Will Max or Zoe be making their return? Or will it be someone, or something, else? Fans will have to wait until 7:30pm on Monday to find out...
