Andy Serkis' ‘Animal Farm' Movie Adds Seth Rogen, Steve Buscemi, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin to Voice Cast
Andy Serkis has unveiled the voice cast for his animated adaptation of the classic George Orwell allegory 'Animal Farm.' It's a film that Serkis has wanted to direct for over a decade, and it's finally becoming a reality.
The cast of the film includes Seth Rogen ('The Studio'), Gaten Matarazzo ('Stranger Things'), Steve Buscemi ('Boardwalk Empire'), Glenn Close ('Fatal Attraction'), Laverne Cox ('Orange is the New Black'), Kieran Culkin ('Succession'), Woody Harrelson ('True Detective'), Jim Parsons ('The Big Bang Theory'), Andy Serkis ('The Lord of the Rings' trilogy, 'Planet of the Apes' trilogy), Kathleen Turner ('Peggy Sue Got Married'), and Iman Vellani ('Ms. Marvel').

A classic novella first published in 1945, 'Animal Farm' is a satirical political allegory about anthropomorphized animals who rebel against their human farmer owners in the hopes of creating a new society, but the story shows how new challenges can emerge and that revolution is just the beginning. Rogen leads the cast as the cunning pig named Napoleon.
Nick Stoller, known for 'The Muppets,' wrote the screenplay adaptation of the book.
'Animal Farm' is a production of Aniventure and Imaginarium, and the film is produced by Adam Nagle ('Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank'), David Rosenbaum ('Riverdance: The Animated Adventure'), Jonathan Cavendish ('Bridget Jones's Diary'), and Serkis. Harrelson also serves as executive producer alongside Matt Reeves ('The Batman,' 'Planet of the Apes'). Animation was provided by Cinesite and produced by Connie Nartonis Thompson ('Frankenweenie'). Casting is by Margery Simkin ('Avatar,' 'Erin Brokovich').
'Animal Farm' is expected to be released later this year, but no official release date was announced along with the voice cast. The story has twice been adapted, including in 1954 as an animated feature, and again as a live-action film in 1999. It seemed like Serkis at one point would've loved to adapt it as a motion-capture film in the vein of his work on 'Lord of the Rings' and 'Planet of the Apes.'

Emmy experts debate Comedy Series race: ‘Hacks' will compete against ‘a bunch of new kids on the block'
Last year's Best Comedy Series winner, Hacks, is back in the running for more Emmy gold, but several new contenders are hoping to stop it in its tracks, including The Studio, Nobody Wants This, and The Four Seasons. Four top Emmy experts — Variety's Clayton Davis, The Hollywood Reporter's Scott Feinberg, Indiewire's Marcus Jones, Deadline's Pete Hammond — debate the race with moderator and Gold Derby editor-in-chief Debra Birnbaum in our latest slugfest video (watch above). "We are almost certainly going to see the return of last year's somewhat surprise winner, Hacks, and then The Bear, which had been widely predicted to win," says Feinberg. "I think we'll see Only Murders in the Building and Abbott Elementary back, and Shrinking. There's a bunch of new kids on the block, most prominently The Studio, which I think is in, as is Nobody Wants This from Netflix. So, I think in a way, we're talking about those seventh and eighth slots that are still up for grabs. You could see returning contenders What We Do in the Shadows and Poker Face, or some new options including English Teacher and The Four Seasons." "Nobody Wants This is the most popular, and I do think that's probably going to be nominated. But there's such a crash between The Four Seasons, A Man on the Inside, and The Residence." He also brings up the "Étoile factor," claiming that Prime Video is "pushing that and trying to do a play of craft love" to help the show get in. "They were the first streamer to win this category, and so I wouldn't put it past them to take it to the finish line." (Note: This was recorded before news of Étoile's cancellation broke late Friday) Davis thinks there is a "clear top five" of shows that feel "locked": Hacks, The Bear, Only Murders, Abbott Elementary, and The Studio. However, "right now at the moment," he feels like The Studio is "the one to beat." He worries whether Shrinking will get in this year since it "really underperformed" the last time it was eligible. As for the Netflix shows, Davis believes Nobody Wants Us and The Four Seasons are going to be the streamer's "top performers." Apple TV+ In terms of out-of-the-box choices, Birnbaum wonders if "all of the press" for The Rehearsal's second season might work "for it or against it." Ultimately, for niche shows, it may come down to how many people have actually seen them. "When you go to events, [the voters] are overwhelmed by the amount of shows that they have to watch," she explains. "So, I think name recognition gets you half the battle." Hammond agrees this is a "tough category" and suggests that the 2023 champion, The Bear, will be nominated, but won't return to the winner's circle. "The Bear is over in terms of winning. I don't see it winning again. The reason Hacks won, in addition to being a great show, is a lot of people just don't feel The Bear belonged in that category." He adds, "It's a very good show. Roseanne Barr claims ‘God told me' to send 2018 racist tweet that derailed her career
Roseanne Barr is getting candid on the tweet that got her canceled from Hollywood. The actress, 72, starred in the hit sitcom 'Roseanne' for 10 seasons from 1988 to 1997 before the show was rebooted in 2018. The revival, however, was short-lived due to a racist tweet Barr sent out that year. ‘Stranger Things,' ‘The Goldbergs' actors spotted at Miss Vicky's in Liverpool
LIVERPOOL, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A post-Sunday night dinner sweet treat had a little celebrity flair for those at a Liverpool ice cream shop. Gaten Matarazzo, known for 'Stranger Things,' Sean Giambrone, known for 'The Goldbergs,' Peyton Elizabeth Lee, known for 'Andi Mack,' and a few others were seen enjoying some ice cream on the rainy night at Vicky's Tasty Treats. The picture of the stars was posted to Vicky's Facebook page, with the caption:'Thank you, Gaten Matarazzo ( Dustin from Stranger Things), Sean Giambrone from the Goldbergs, and Peyton Elizabeth from Andi Mack for stopping by for a Tasty Treat .' Of the photographed crew, Matarazzo and Giambrone are the only two confirmed as cast members in a new Hulu comedy, which is being filmed at American High, a Liverpool-based production company. The movie is currently called 'The Untitled BriTANicK Pizza Movie' on IMDb. It is said to be about two students who face 'an unexpectedly epic journey when they must navigate two flights of stairs to retrieve their pizza delivery, turning a simple task into a surreal adventure.' Nick Kocher and Brian Mcelhaney — the pair who make up BriTANicK — are writing and directing the movie. A few weeks prior, Matarazzo and Giambrone were spotted at Dinosaur BBQ in downtown Syracuse. 'This is your sign to bring your crew to Dinosaur BBQ, you never know who you'll run into!
