Maroc05-05-2025
Thanks to the wisdom and foresight of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara is gaining growing international support, said the President of the Andean Parliament, Gustavo Pacheco Villar.
In an interview with MAP on the sidelines of the 3rd International Forum of Young Socialist and Social Democratic Parliamentarians, held in Marrakech on May 2-3, Pacheco Villar emphasized that the foresight of the Sovereign's Vision is reflected in the support of major world powers such as the United States of America, France and Spain for Morocco's sovereignty over its Sahara.
In this respect, he noted the growing support of Latin American countries for the Kingdom's position, while reiterating the Andean Parliament's support for Morocco's territorial integrity and sovereignty over its Southern Provinces.
He also highlighted the progress and impressive development momentum of these provinces.
'I visited the Kingdom's southern provinces and was impressed by the development projects carried out or launched in the various towns,' stated the President of the Andean Parliament, citing in particular the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Laayoune and the Dakhla Atlantic Port.
In the same vein, he highlighted the Royal Atlantic Initiative, which aims to open up new prospects for Sahelo-Saharan countries and boost a sustainable regional economic dynamic, as well as the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project, noting that these innovative initiatives make the Kingdom a major player in consolidating and promoting South-South cooperation.
Morocco's active presence in Africa and its various actions and initiatives in favor of the continent's countries also reflect the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to lasting cooperation, he affirmed.
Referring to the various reforms carried out in the Kingdom under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King, Pacheco Villar said that Morocco had taken major steps towards consolidating the rule of law, notably through the adoption of the 2011 Constitution and the empowerment of women.

Morocco Named Guest of Honor at 21st Panama International Book Fair

Morocco was named as the guest of honor at the 21st edition of the Panama International Book Fair, held on August 11-17 at the Atlapa Convention Center in Panama City. This Moroccan participation, the first of its kind in Latin America, is part of the significant momentum in the multidimensional bilateral relations between Morocco and Panama, following those established with several other Latin American countries, according to the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication. This evolution is the result of the Enlightened Vision and High Guidelines of His Majesty the King, aiming to reinforce and extend cultural exchange, in the context of common civilizational elements and a shared conviction that culture is a bridge of cooperation and brotherhood between states and people, the same source added. In this context, the department organizes intellectual, heritage and arts activities providing the fair's visitors with the opportunity to explore the main aspects of Moroccan culture and heritage. This program includes notably a documentary exposure gathering a selection of well elaborated published books from the department to highlight the heritage and contemporary components of Moroccan culture. This exhibition also presents reproductions of Moroccan manuscripts illustrating the refined art of illumination and ornament, as well as a printed documentary collection offering a vast overview of the intellectual and creative production of the Kingdom, particularly that written in Spanish. Similar to this documentary exhibition, the Moroccan pavilion highlights paintings illustrating some of the most important landmarks of Moroccan civilization and its emblematic figures, as well as a showcase dedicated to Moroccan craftsmanship furnished notably with traditional carpets that testify to the aesthetic richness and cultural diversity combined in a unified identity. Morocco also proposed a series of meetings and round tables on topics of mutual interest with Panama, such as Moroccan-Latin American relations, the richness and diversity of Moroccan culture, Moroccan literature and its openness to universality, and the Andalusian heritage shared by Morocco and Latin America. Poetry readings and book signings are also planned, the press release added. With regard to activities for children and young people as part of this event, Morocco's participation includes craft workshops aimed at introducing visitors to Moroccan crafts, particularly weaving, pottery, and zellige, as well as storytelling sessions highlighting the main Moroccan folk tales and the human values they convey. Moroccan music is also well represented through an artistic program highlighting performances of Andalusian and Gnaoua music. Launched under the theme 'Building bridges with words,' this week-long program promotes Morocco's cultural heritage through its intellectual output, poetic and artistic creativity and aesthetic richness, building a bridge between two countries separated by continental distance but united by civilizational and human values based on friendship and cooperation, the press release concluded. 2026 Finance Bill Sets out Main Priorities

The Finance Bill for the 2026 fiscal year sets out four main priorities, in application of High Royal Guidelines, outlining the framework of a new phase, according to the guidance note for the bill addressed by the Head of Government to ministerial departments. According to the note, the bill involves bolstering the Kingdom's development, achieving a balance between economic development and social and spatial justice, enshrining the bases of the social State and accelerating major structural reforms, as well as preserving the stability of public finances. These guidelines set the course for bolstering the Kingdom's emergence by leveraging growth, investment, and reform to strengthen economic resilience and enhance national competitiveness, the same source adds. They also highlight the priority given by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to spatial justice, through bridging social and spatial disparities, in line with a balanced and inclusive development approach at the national level. Morocco is therefore entering a new phase of transformation based on promoting employment, strengthening basic social services, preserving water resources, and integrated territorial development, the guidance note further emphasizes. The 2026 Finance Bill also aims to bolster economic growth, in line with the Royal Guidelines set out in His Majesty the King's speech on the 26th Throne Day, through sustained investment, strengthening Morocco's global industries, and industrial growth to permanently position the Kingdom among global value chains. This bill further places reducing social and spatial disparities at the heart of its action, covering in particular the promotion of employment, strengthening of basic social services, adopting a proactive and sustainable water resource management model, and launching integrated territorial upgrading projects. Strengthening of the State's social action towards a more targeting and efficient approach, through generalizing direct aid, expanding social coverage, access to housing and boosting households' purchasing power, remains one of the government's priorities. The 2026 PLF thus marks a clear shift towards a targeted and efficient impact in implementing public policies. (MAP: 11 August 2025)

Military intelligence : Morocco shares its expertise with Niger

Morocco is deepening its security cooperation with Niger, which in December 2023 joined the royal initiative to facilitate Sahel states' access to the Atlantic Ocean. This commitment was underscored during an August 6 meeting in Niamey between Colonel-Major Mahamadou Nouhou Bako, director of the National Center for Strategic and Security Studies (CNESS) in charge of military intelligence, and Colonel Adil Rajai, defense attaché at the Moroccan embassy in Niger, according to a CNESS statement relayed by local media. «The discussion mainly focused on the importance of cooperation in scientific research applied to strategic and security studies between our two countries, through the sharing of experiences, taking into account the complex and multifaceted challenges to peace and security», the communiqué said. Niger's Foreign Minister, Bakary Yaou Sangare, was among the delegation of foreign ministers from the Alliance of Sahel States received by King Mohammed VI on April 28. Earlier, in February 2024, Nigerien Prime Minister Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine delivered a message from Brigadier General Abdourrahman Tiani, president of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland and head of state, to King Mohammed VI, via Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch.
